Work Gets In My Eyes

Work blocking blogging again…

Today’s Daily Challenge
Think about the last time you felt upset, and try to recall if you were hungry, tired, or both.

Although we human beings have achieved some great things, there’s no getting around the fact that we’re still animals – and all animals have a need for adequate rest and nourishment! By thinking about how your mood might have been affected by lack of food or sleep, it may help you respond differently to a future situation. For example, you might remind yourself that a problem may not loom as large after a good night’s sleep, or that a conversation may go better after you’ve had something to eat.

Nope, just thinking about the state of my life.

Mondane Monday On Tuesday
Because I didn’t get laundry done on Monday night it was last night’s highest priority task. I left work around 5:15pm only to get lodged into Atlanta’s pathetic traffic for another night. By the time I arrived at QT in Chamblee the Jackmobile wasn’t quite running on fumes but was getting dangerously close.

On benefit of joining the Tuesday Night Laundry Club was that the place was virtually empty and I was able to get my loads done promptly.

Last night was not my night for a bike ride. Someone on a ride recently commented they thought my rear tire was showing carcass. I had an old tire and put it on and rode for a while without problems. There is a “dirt” road I have ridden on before and I went on it last night and about halfway through, I took a direct hit on a rock with the rear tire. Just by the sound alone, I knew it wan’t going to be good and sure enough, flat tire. OK, not problem- I remembered to put my kit back on the bike after I changed out the tire. Pull the tire, pull the blown tube, put on the new tube and screw the cartridge into the inflator- hmmm… I wonder how this thing.. PPPSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSTTTTT, (a quick facefull of CO2!!!) I couldn’t unscrew it fast enough to stop it- I think the ice finally stopped it actually. OK, one more cartridge and then it’s the cell phone! I managed to get enough air in the tire to get back home, but it wasn’t seated properly, so I went whump whump whump down the road, just waiting for the tube to work it’s way out. Ugh. 10 whole miles.

Dinner tonight at Georges, then we pick up rescue boxer Maggie for the holiday.

Barb, any news on my bike? I’ll be “in town” Saturday and could swing by.

Paulie – Robin is coming from your part of the world too, she said she doesn’t think she can get here until 7-7:30. So, don’t kill yourself to get here. Anytime after 5:00 is fine…..

Steve – no, the parts aren’t in yet. I’ll have Allan call Cycleworks. But – we will not be home Saturday, we will be at Lake Keowee in SC. Not that you couldn’t stop by if it is done, we trust you enough to give you the super secret code to the garage. Allan works Sunday & we will be around Monday.

And speaking of maintenance- I think it might have been highlights from the Vuelta stage the other day, I can’t remember who it was (someone you’d recognize) he’s reaches around and grabs the saddle and hurls it into the woods, leaving only the rails. Guess he’ll be “out of the saddle” for a while. They weren’t far from the finish.

    Monday might work…

  4. Barb says:

I was going to guess Kevin, but I’m guessing you are speaking of a rider. He’s working the Vuelta.

I’m really not in the mood to work today, everything I have to do today is just being difficult. If only I could go to lunch & not come back……..

  5. Steve says:

Yes, a rider. It was pretty funny. He didn’t appear mad, he just had the expression of “well, what are you going to do?”.

  6. I’ve been so busy that I’ve not had time to follow the Vuelta. Criminal!

I’ll be there sometime after 6:30pm. After work I’ll stop by somewhere to pick up bread and wine (any recommendations?).

  7. Barb says:

Well – if we sit outside (if its not too hot), white wine (like a sauvignon blanc or viognier) is always good. If you are in the mood for red, pinot noir is always a good choice. And – if you know anything about rose’ wines, a dry rose’ would be good.
