I’d Like To Live In Poverty

Ooops, that should have read “I’d Like To Live With Parvati.” What can you expect on Friday the 13th?

My friends and I have once again started wagering on who will get booted from Survivor. Last night I had it pegged, until I started doubting my decision and crafted an entire new plot into the show. Needless to say I picked the wrong person, but thankfully so did Stacy and Phil so it was a draw.

I’m Not So Sure About The New Yahoo Mail
Yahoo! has gone and updated its Yahoo! Mail webpage. The new look confuses me, most likely because I’ve been using the other for the past two or so years. Also, things seem to be smaller, more stuff is crammed onto the page, and if my initial feeling is correct it’s far more sluggish than before.

Is it just me? Has anyone else’s Yahoo! mail account been converted over? What says you?

[update @ 9:30am: The new Yahoo! mail has frustrated me so much that I have employeed their “switch back” option.]

Picturing A Dilemma
Because I am a masochist I am considering leaping into the 2000’s and getting a Blackberry. Oh sure, I know the evils that Crackberries create and I’m ready to assume them.

My dilemma is this. Until yesterday I was fairly certain that I was going to move from Sprint to Cingular and purchase a Blackberry 8700c. I knew that in doing this I’d be giving up the ability to take photos with my phone because there is no camera on the 8700c, and I was sort of okay with that. Then a coworker went and got a Blackberry Pearl. The Pearl has a much nicer form-factor (due to its modified keyboard) and has a 1.3 megapixel camera. Unfortunately the Blackberry Pearl is only offered by T-Mobile.

Dammit I hate it when this happens!

This was to be one of the masterpieces I took while in Philips Arena last night. However getting home from trivia at 10:30pm followed by watching the end of the Mets game and then Survivor I never uploaded anything.

I call this my “Parvati Face”

Smile!

Want To Find Me This Weekend?
You’ll probably have to go see some live music. A quick glance at my calendar shows two definite concerts (Built to Spill tonight at Variety Playhouse and Ben Kweller Sunday night at The EARL) and one tentative concert (Manchester Orchestra at Club 585) on the agenda. If I understand things correctly the Manchester Orchestra show is also a CD release party. If so that will increase the likelihood of my appearance.

There will also be a photostroll in Oakhurst tomorrow morning at the Oakhurst Arts and Music Festival.

And on Sunday, Sunday, SUNDAY!!! I will be attending the Wheelhopper hash #250. That’s right Black Sheepers, I’m jumping camps for a weekend because I want to ride my bike, and oh, the start is a mile from East Atlanta.

And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…
Current Mood – fair
Current Music – Sirius Satellite Radio, Channel 26 playing My Morning Jacket– “Dancefloors”

i’m also in the market for a blackberry and, if it makes you feel any better, i read a review of the pearl that did not have nice things to say about the 1.3mp camera….especially if you are a photographer who wants good quality. so, if you can do without the camera altogether, then the 7130c is shaped and looks just like the pearl with a lot of the same features.
oh, and i have switched to the new Y! mail and I like it alright, it takes some getting used to but it functions like outlook, the e-mail program with which i am the most familiar…give it a shot.

Thanks beans. I’ll read that review later today.

I’ll switch back to the new Yahoo when I have more patience. Right now it’s just too sluggish for me.

Parvati’s a skanky hussy. She’s all about using her “womanly powers” (flirtation) to get what she wants. I hate the girls that get on the show and have nothing to offer than that. Apparently, it appeals to SOME, though…

  4. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

LOL!!! Thanks Amity, you’ve made my day. 🙂

  5. Barb says:

Every Survivor they have at least a couple girls that try the flirting game. Remember the chicks that had the all girl bathing parties, and even got naked at a challenge for some food? That was one funny series, but I think one of htem ended up winning hte whole thing….. so you never know.

I have the Blackberry 8100c with Cingular and just to muddy the water a little further, I’m lusting after a Palm Treo. The Blackberry Browser stinks and the phone isn’t any great shakes either… I’ve never been a camera phone fan, so it hasn’t been on my radar when looking at the Treo. I do love, love, love getting my email on the go without schlepping a laptop.

Oh great. Now I don’t know *what* to do.

  8. Smoove D says:

T-Mobile is the great Satan. Their coverage is absolutely terrible. I never got more than 1 bar, and usually 0 bars in the EAV. Cingular doesn’t have 4 bars everywhere, but over the last two months, I’ve found it to be a huge improvement over T-Mobile. It’s really kind of nice to be able to make a call when you want to.

  9. Amity says:

Heh. Her last name is Shallow. How very fitting.
