A Thursday Quickie

I’m scheduled for an all-day meeting so I don’t have much time to type… Here’s a pretty picture to satiate you

Time For A Change

btw - my photography continues to frustrate me. I think that I need to pay more attention to my settings to find out what my lenses can and cannot do. Pictures which look nice in the tiny lcd screen look horrible on my computer.

Tough Night At The Arena, Even When The Ticket Is Free
I was rewarded a free ticket to last night Thrashers game for holding a table down at CNN Center for my friends. Well, that’s not really how it happened but it sounds good. Actually a friend of a friend was able to convert an unused ticket from a previous game into a freebie for me. I returned the favor by buying him a frosty Moloson Canadian.

It looked like the Thrashers had a few Molsons in them as they lost 5-2 even though they out shot Carolina by a nearly four-to-one margin.

TV Worth Falling Asleep To
A few nights of poor sleep, a comfortable couch, and a warm blanket caused me to miss the last half of Top Chef last night. Luckily I’ve got it DVR’d so I can go back and watch the rest of the show tonight. My falling asleep should not be taken as commentary about the show however. For some reason I really like to format of this show, perhaps because it’s more humane than Hell’s Kitchen.

Speaking of Hell’s Kitchen…. If you fancy yourself as a hot-shot chef you can go to an audition for Hell’s Kitchen 3 being held at the Candler Park Flying Biscuit. Even if I didn’t have a full schedule planned for today I doubt that I would go and subject myself to this. I think I am a good cook, however I don’t think that I that good of a cook.

I’ve got to run to prepare for my meeting. See you all tomorrow!

Exit Rocktober, Enter Rollvember

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is over and I never managed to get a good photo of the Concourse Buildings while the Queen was red. Damn.

How I Spent The Holiday
Oh, last night’s choices were abundant! I wound up doing none of them.

I passed on the Secret Machines at Center Stage show because I found out two important tidbits of information
- the show was reserved seating and I was waiting until the night of the show to buy a ticket
- That mofo Beck was playing a “secret show” at Vinyl and I knew that would fuck up everything around Center Stage.

Believe it or not, I am not a big enough fan to have gone to see Beck. I am sure the show was fantastic (Fat Asian Baby, what says you?)

Another option was to do a solo photo stroll throughout midtown. I just wasn’t “feeling it” and I knew that my tripod was at home so I nixed that idea.

I wound up at Gravity Pub. I get a little sentimental about Gravity because it one of the few places still standing in this town with which I have history. Gravity is a dive, however a familiar dive for me. I walked in to find Ashley working the bar and sat down for a couple (okay, three) Lone Stars [why I slum-drink in my neighborhood confuses me] and a basket of wings. Being only around 7pm the bar was fairly empty, so we all sat and drank as we watched the end of some bizarre movie on the tv. I left smelling like an ashtray, another constant of my favorite East Atlanta haunt.

Technically this photo is bad, I just happen to like the effect the netting makes….

Nothing But Net

I’ll Be As Cold As Ice
It’s another 2-for-1 ticket night for the Atlanta Thrashers so there is a good possibility that is where I will find my entertainment tonight. The only thing that will keep me from going is some work that I have to have prepared for a day-long training session I will undergo tomorrow.

And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…
Current Mood - okay
Current Music - Sirius Satellite Radio, Channel 26 playing The New Pornographers — “Sing Me Spanish Techno”
Website Of The Day - Wonder why the Germans are not considered to be funny? Find out for yourself at The German Joke of the Day.
Exercise (b)Log - none

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]
