Twelve Days: Day Five

For the next twelve days I will give you the item for that day from the song “The Twelve Days of Christmas” along with the gift I would like to receive. You will see quickly that mine may not always be material, but are just as strange…

Song: Five Golden Rings
Paulie: Five more days of paid vacation

And for you today I bring Five Top 5 lists for 2006 even though I know that there are a little more than two weeks remaining in the year.

Top Moments (for me)
1) Chicago, Chicago (even with the brutal heat this was a great trip for me)
2) Getting to kiss someone I’ve waited years to kiss (don’t ask)
3) Buying a DSLR camera / meeting Flickrites / going out to take pictures
4) Volunteering for Thomas Creek at the East Atlanta Notoberfest (it was fun to pour beer all day for a great group of people and get drunk in the process)
5) Sports
– Gators win Men’s NCAA basketball title
– NY Mets win NL East, almost make it to World Series
– Gators win SEC championship, make it to BCS championship game
– East Atlanta Deadbeat Dads make the playoffs

Worst Moments (for me)
1) Not only did I not lost weight, I gained some
2) Having the person in the above list tell me two days later that kissing me was a mistake and she wanted to be friends
3) Not running or biking enough / failing to finish the ALS 50 mile ride
4) Food poisoning or whatever hell knocked me for a loop back in June
5) Missing concerts that I had no reason to miss other than being lazy

Top Live Shows (that I saw)
1) The Flaming Lips @ Tabernacle (would have been more fun on the floor)
2) Bob Mould @ Eddie’s Attic (first night)
3) The Hold Steady @ The EARL (twice)
4) Silversun Pickups @ Drunken Unicorn
5) She Wants Revenge @ The EARL (that was this year? it seems so long ago)

Worst Live Shows (that I saw)
1) Margot And The Nuclear So And So’s (because they canceled twice)
2) Piebald @ Masquerade (only because I showed up too late and missed them)
3) Sufjan Stevens @ The Fox (pretty music which bored me live)
4) Built To Spill @ Variety Playhouse (because I was expecting an earlier show and was so tired by the time they took the stage I couldn’t stay for their entire set)
5) Bob Mould @ Eddie’s Attic (second night, he wasn’t feeling as well as he did the night before)

Top CDs (that I bought)
keep that in mind because there were some better releases than these that haven’t found their way into my collection yet
1) My Chemical Romance “The Black Parade”
2) Manchester Orchestra “I’m Like A Virgin Losing A Child”
3) She Wants Revenge “She Wants Revenge”
4) Silversun Pickups “Carnavas”
5) Gomez “How We Operate”

And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…
Current Mood – okay, although I had planned on going out and shooting at sunrise and I’ve already missed that
Current Music – listening to Muse’s “Black Holes and Revelations”
Website Of The Day – What else but Top 5 Breakups.
Exercise (b)Log – none

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

Flaming Lips- Yes…it was much more fun on the floor :)! You coulda joined us, you know!

Bob Mould- hey, don’t think you can say that the second night was one of the WORST shows you have seen. I mean, it’s Bob Mould- even on his worst days, he still kicks ass.

Built to Spill- um, yeah. That show blew…not so much because of the late start time, but because the crowd was one of the WORST crowds I have ever experienced. I haven’t gotten into a fight in years…and if I hadn’t left and gone to EAYC, I might have kicked some poseur-hipster-f*ckwit’s ass. Sorry. Still upset about that show…

And Tenement Halls on NYE- damnit! I always miss their shows…however, I will be in Germany, so I shouldn’t bitch.

It was Thomas Creek and you forgot to mention Katie…

I should have joined you all on the floor. That’s what I get for going to the show with people who have seen them multiple times. 🙂

The Bob Mould show was good but compared to the first night and the other shows that I saw this year it had to be there.

I agree with the additional annoyances at the Built To Spill show. Why people in this town can’t keep their pieholes shut during concerts baffles me.

If you’ll be in Germany you definitely have no room to gripe young lady. 🙂

Dammit! I hate when I incorrectly identify things that have happened in my life! Thanks Smoove.
