Lights, Camera, Plants

On my walk last night I noticed some guys feverishly unloading a truck of plants at the corner of McClendon and Oakdale. At first I thought, “Hey, I wonder if they are making a tv show here.” Then I thought, “Geez, I watch way too much tv.” Alas, my first thought was right! As I passed the truck I peered across the street to see lighting set up in the back yard and two rent-a-cops standing near the house. I then saw a Winnebago up the street with a rack of new clothing positioned near it. Anyone know what they are filming?

All Up In My Grill
I’ve already accomplished something this year that I didn’t last year. I used my bbq. Oh I had all intentions of being GrillMaster Paulie last year, but one thing led to another and before I knew it the year ended.

Last night I cooked up a small t-bone steak for last night’s dinner and a package of sausages for later consumption (read “today’s lunch, tomorrow’s dinner”)

(hmmm, maybe I should have taken some pictures)

ITP Flickr Pic
Flickr is a funny place. I will never understand what drives people to look at photos.

This picture of my shoe taken with my cameraphone on a whim yesterday while I was waiting for a meeting to start has already gotten twenty-nine views.

My Right Foot

While yesterday’s macro photo of a delicate, cracked egg shell from a robin which I placed on a contrasting background, carefully arranged to get its most interesting angle, and then shot using my DSLR has only gotten twenty-five views.

All I am waiting for now is to be asked to submit today’s photo into some niche group called “Shoe Photos Taken With Cameraphones” or some such nonsense.

I’m confused.

( ( 48 * 3.14 ) / 8 ) * 2 ) * 1.49 = 56.1432
This is currently a semi-important formula in my life. It roughly calculates the cost (w/o sales tax) of the fire pit / bbq pit that I am considering putting in my back yard. Of course there are a few other associated costs that will accompany this one, but I think that I can get the project done the way I want for fewer than one hundred dollars.

If the weather doesn’t permit travel to Montgomery this weekend, then come rain or shine I might undertake this effort. The wheels are turning, and only eight years after I bought the house…

This Geek Goes To Eleven
You might need a beanie with a propeller to get this next bit.

Last night I was able to boot my old HP laptop using the latest version of Ubuntu Linux. I’m as happy as a pig near a pile of shit. I still don’t know if my all of laptop’s hardware is functional under Linux, but at least it boots.

And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…
Current Mood – sniffly with itchy eyes — loving the weather, hating the pollen
Current Music – Sirius Satellite Radio, Channel 26 playing Explostions In The Sky — “Welcome, Ghosts” (I haven’t heard of them either)
Website Of The Day – Funny is big on the net right now. You’d think with all of my Turner connections I would have heard of their new comedy media portal called SuperDeluxe before yesterday.
Exercise (b)Log – walking, 4 miles
Mode Of Transportation To Work – My car

May Goals
1) Lose two pounds. (starting weight 200 lbs)
2) Exercise at least five days per week.
3) Read two books, specifically
3a) “722 Miles: The Building of the Subways and How They Transformed New York”
3b) “The Evolution Of Useful Things…”

Cheers,

I’m not sure pigs like shit. They’re actually pretty clean animals, y’know. Pretty clean tasty animals, in fact.

And, yeah, I tuned out somewhere around that math equation. Otherwise my head would have exploded.

Your photo views? That’s easy: foot fetishes! 🙂

  2. Amity says:

Obviously yesterday wasn’t a “wear nicer clothes to work” day. 🙂

  3. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

    @Stacy: Or a shoe fetish?

    @Amity: Nor is today. 🙂

  4. Stacy says:

Mmmmm… now you’ve made up for that math crap I had to see. Shooooooees…..yay. Now I’m in a happy place again. 🙂

  5. Steve says:

The clothes may not have been nice, but the shoes were fancy enough. And you didn’t grill out last year?
    Cook meat fire good!! Ugh.

  6. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

Yeah, I never grilled out last year. Even stranger, I cleaned the grill thoroughly planning to grill, but never did.

btw- steak was delicious, I am getting geeked for a sausage sandwich at lunch.

wow… Explosions in the Sky are probably one of the best bands around right now. They are completely instrumental and absolutely amazing. They just played a show at Lenny’s (if you feel so inclined you can read my review here).
However, what really thrust them into the public eye is that they provided 90% of the soundtrack for the movie “Friday Night Lights” and the resulting TV show on NBC. I would suggest starting with the soundtrack for that movie and moving on from there.
Btw, congrats on the Ubuntu front, I’m thinking about playing with it some myself, especially since Dell thinks it is worth pre-installing on their machines.

Photos tagged with “feet” on flickr get more views than ANYTHING else.

I think I will start tagging all my photos with “feet”…

  9. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

wow, perhaps Flickr’s name should be changed to “Fetsh” 🙂

  10. Damn, you whine a lot. None of my photos ever cracked double digit views on Flickr.

  11. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

    Damn, you whine a lot.

    Because I do it well.

  12. Dan says:

Do you know that photos could be more clear or sharp after optimization? Maybe this web site ( http://www.picopti.com ) could help you out.

  13. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

That’s excellent Dan. Thanks. I had not heard of http://www.picopti.com before.

  14. Elizabeth says:

Yeah, disturbingly, the post-surgery picture of my foot with the giant purple bandage on my toe has almost 100 views. *shudders*

  15. Mollie says:

Hahahahaha, I should tag this photo with “feet”. Then they’ll get quite a surprise. 😀
