Somedays Blogging Is Like Crockpot Cooking

This blog entry was prepared on Sunday evening.

Welcome to non-interactive Monday. Today I will be out and about all day riding with an installer, so I will very limited phone access and virtually no internet access. While I don’t like having to do this I realize it’s an important ingredient in the recipe I call “Paying the Bills.”

My Kingdom For An Uncluttered Kingdom
Oh wait, that won’t work.

One of my unwritten goals, and it’s been one for far too long, is to completely unclutter my house. I’ve been fairly good at not being a pack-rat, and not to buy to too many things which are unnecessary. However, after eight years of not moving (toss in a short stint of having someone else living here and not taking all of her stuff when she departed) I have amassed too much crap.

I am always amazed when I go to other people’s houses and theirs looks like a nice, tidy, house. I’m not looking to redecorate mind you (those of you who are laughing may stop now) even though the house is currently decorated in “post college male” fashion. I just want the house to stop looking like it is a constant work in progress.

I seriously think that I’d be one step closer to nirvana if I could arrive home each day and not get distressed by the state of my house.

“Nice Rack”, “Pimp My Rack”, or “Another Accident Waiting To Happen”
The Jackmobile has once again been fitted with a roof rack. I finally mustered up the patience necessary to complete the task on Saturday morning. While I am glad that the roof rack is back in place (and I’m sure you are as well Barb — I’ll get my bike out of your house this week), I will be sorry to see my gas mileage dip a bit again and it will take a little while, or a few bike transports, to regain the confidence in my installation that I had pre-stupid bike maneuver.

Note To Self: Before Going To REI Check To See If Something Is Going On There
For the second time in as many months I made the mistake of going to REI on the wrong day. The last time it was in the middle of one of their “big sales.” This time the place was overflowing with people there to pick up their race packets for the Muddy Buddy (a race I said that I would look into doing and then completely forgot).

When something is going on at the REI near Clairmont not only parking is affected (if you can find an open space), but people are crossing the road as if they owned it and thus making traffic more congested.

What a royal pain in the ass. And then I decided not to buy the extra tray for my bike rack.

Zocalo — Good For What Ales You
Two weeks in a row I’ve wound up a long day of drinking (which is why I used “ale” and not “ail” above) at Zocalo (be forewarned that their site is one of those annoying flash-based websites replete with music) in Grant Park. This week a small group of us who were having too much fun after doing the Black Sheep hash headed up for a final beverage and some food.

I must say that I am rather enjoying their offerings. Last night I had three tacos — “al pastor”, puerco pibil, mole verde — if my memory serves me correctly, all washed down with an cold Negra Modelo. The only complaint that I can offer up is that the salsa they serve with their chips is incredibly sub-standard.

And One More Thing
Hell’s Kitchen is on tonight.

And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…
Current Mood – congested followed by nose running (might have something to do with eight hours of exposure to grass and dust), tired (might have something to do with eight hours of hashing and drinking)
Current Music – nothing
Website Of The DayToodledo is another of the Web 2.0 “to do list” managers. One of these days I might actually subscribe to one of these in order to get organized.
Exercise (b)Log – Black Sheep hashing yesterday
Mode Of Transportation To Work – My car

June Goals
1) Lose five pounds. (starting weight 200+ lbs)

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

Man, I hear you about the clutter! If you find any good tips, I’m all ears!

And good luck on your ride-alongs today. 🙂 Hey, who knows? May even provide some good fodder for tomorrow’s entry.

  2. Barb says:

I’m debating on going to dinner with some people in Cabbagetown tonight, though I really need to stay home & relax & do laundry. (Jackoff’s Farm was a good time, but I’m not as good at drinking all day as I used to be!)
Other than that, I think I’m home in Marietta all week.
Let me know when you want to ge tthe bike.

  3. How was the Rosebuds show? I want to know if missed anything – I stayed home and drank alone, because I got too drunk skipping the opening bands that suck™ to drive over to the Earl.

I was too lazy to leave the house. Actually, I spent most of the evening playing with the Pixelpost install I put upon my new GoDaddy hosting account. It’s not ready yet (need to learn about the templates) but things will be up and running soon.

  5. Sweet, looking forward to it. Email me with the URL when it’s ready.
