Time To Refocus

With Christmas now in the rear-view mirror and the promise of accomplishing my 2007 goals fading it’s time to refocus.

Merry Porkin’ Christmas!
Yesterday I ate enough pork to insult two Jewish families. Oh dear God there was bacon, sausage in an egg/sausage casserole, ham, and I think that there may have been some pork in the beer I drank — okay, there wasn’t but you get the idea.

Speaking of beer, our friend Nancy introduced many of us to this infectious Lego Beer Song

I enjoy it immensely! What can I say, I am a simpleton.

Christmas at Betsy’s was another fantastic success. Betsy, you are to be congratulated for pulling off another incredible Christmas day and I thank you whole-heartily.

You would think that with twelve days of dragging out photos from earlier this year I’d have more than enough material to post something today. I do not. I haven’t been taking many photos, and today I brought my camera to work only to realize that I don’t have any way of getting the photos off of the compact flash card. I guess I’ll be making a trip to a store at lunch.

My Local Caribou Is Becoming Extinct
To wrap up my Christmas cheer (and because I correctly predicted that Caribou would be selling their Christmas-packaged coffee cheaply, half off) I made a stop on my way in to work this morning.

What I didn’t expect to see was a sign stating that my local Caribou would be closing permanently next week. The workers were given the option to transfer to another location, but it still makes me sad.

George’s? Perhaps.
I can neither confirm nor deny my plans to visit George’s tonight. To be honest, I had a lot to drink (and eat) yesterday so I should run, but I don’t know if I want the ready presence of alcohol afterwards.

And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…
Current Mood – sad
Current Music – Sirius Satellite Radio, Channel 26 playing The Coral — “Who’s Gonna Find Me” (my guess is no one, or at best not who I wish)
Website Of The Day – Get a new digital camera for Christmas and want to take food photos? Head to Digital Food Photography and check out their tips.
Exercise (b)Log – nothing
Monthly Foot Mileage – 20.1 miles
Monthly Wheel Mileage – 0 miles
Mode Of Transportation To Work – My car
Monthly Marta Rides – 11

December Goals
1) Run no fewer than 50 miles
2) Ride Marta no fewer than twenty times (ten round-trips)
3) Read at least one book

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

That video is still funny, even sober.

God no photos of yesterday! I don’t think I had any that came out well.

  2. Stacy says:

    Which ‘bou be this?

I am very sorry to hear of the loss of your ‘bou! 🙁

  3. @Martha: I agree that it is still funny. I still don’t know how my photos look.

@Stacy: The Caribou nearest my office, in the same shopping center as Taco Mac.

Do you think the ‘bou was killed off by the evil empire (Starsucks) or was it not enough business?

I’ll be doing my own running (and drinking) tonight from the farm, so I shan’t be at Georges tonight. I keep trying to talk the mizzus into driving up and joining us for a Wednesday evening, but so far I have been unpersuasive. I’ll continue to persuade… and she’ll continue to resist.

The woman behind the counter said that they were not doing enough in sales and that the landlords were going to raise the rent. This area is fairly devoid of Starbucks, there is one about a half-mile up the road and one across the street inside Barnes & Noble. I guess that there is one inside Target as well. However I never think of the “inside other store” Starbucks as being great competition.

I doubt that I will make it George’s myself, I got in late and just took a fairly long lunch.

    Re Pork:
We ate most of that 7 pound ham I brough over

The thought of being around beer is almost too much today, I will probably skip George’s as well. Though I need to meet Betsy and collect the rest of my belongings, including my wallet!

  7. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

Better watch out, that Betsy will probably go out and spend all of your money. She’ll never read this, so I have no fear of repercussion. 🙂

HA !!!! I read, because after eating all that effing food, I can do nothing today except sit in a chair. As I wrote last night, at some point between stuffing my piehole with everything, with the exception possibly being pie, God Bless Ye Merry Gentlebacon…

Off to the Macy’s sale. Say nothing to Martha.

Apparently the theme of Christmas this year was pork. I spent the day with an 8 pound Boston Butt in my Crock-Pot for the Christmas party. When I got up to make coffee this morning, i discovered that I had somehow splattered pork fat into my coffee grinder while taking the meat off the bone. Oops.

Sorry about your ‘Bou. I work in a neighborhood devoid of convenient coffee, so I feel your pain.
