I like the first full length disc by The Gaslight Anthem. Sink or Swim. The new disc (The ’59 Sound) is more rock, while Sink or Swim is more punk. Honestly, both discs are more rock than anything else. It’s worth checking out and all of their stuff is on emusic.

I didn’t want to sound like an advertisement, it’s just that it’s “new music tuesday” so I thought I’d throw that out there.

Have never heard of The Gaslight Anthem. I will look into them tonight however. I did purchase the Butterfly Assassins CD “Sylvia” digitally last week; they are a Queen meets Billy Joel (or perhaps Cold War Kids) mix. I’m digging it a lot.

Which The Gaslight Anthem disc do you recommend?

And speaking of The Hold Steady. I am bummed that I will not get to go to the Drive By Truckers / Hold Steady show at the Tabernacle on November 1st. Rats!

I don’t want it after an fairly poor showing in Beijing. The only medal is Tyler’s’ bronze. But they can waste some money trying to “buy” some speed with better technology, instead of focusing on the engine.

Paulie runs away with the Geek Circus… strikes a vision doesn’t it? I see monkeys and laptops…

I hear gunfire all the time.. of course, what my neighbors shoot at doesn’t shoot back (generally).

And look at the bright side, it didn’t take you 3 hours to get to work today (I hope).

I did hear about it on Brooklyn Vegan. I feel bad for him. I spoke to him a few weeks ago and we were talking about the new album… told him how much I loved Microcastles and he was so happy to have this secret album that he was recording and he wasn’t going to tell anyone but his friends…no sticker, no blogs, everyone would find out about it on the same day, and he kept it for a while…guess its ruined now.
