I Have Nothing Today

Every once in a while I have to admit that my life borders on boring. Today is one of those days.

Other Night OTP
Last night I once again headed to Roswell for the semi-monthly meeting of the Roswell Photographic Society. As is customary for the third-Monday meeting last night was photo critique night. Last night’s theme was “Old Building Detail” and unfortunately I was once again too lazy to prepare a shot for critique.

Prior to the meeting a small group of us met at Chick-fil-A to eat dinner. I had a chilled “spicy” chicken wrap and continue to wonder why people like to eat at Chick-fil-A. Is it just a better place to get breakfast? I hear people rave about their biscuit sandwiches.

All You Need To Know
I was not ready for this shot, hence the reason the men’s heads are not pictured. However, I really like the shot because it conveys just about all the information you need to know about this play.

Concert? Yes. Camera? Probably Not
Tonight I’ll be at The EARL to see the Meat Puppets show. Depending on my feelings at the time (read “How much I feel like ‘working’ and fighting the crowd”) I will probably not be dragging my camera along tonight. Anyone else planning on attending?

And Many Mooooooore
Happy birthday to East Atlanta neighbor, friend, and ITP-Reader Jenka. If you’d like to read about the fun that she’s having on her very special day then surf on over to her blog at Total Eclipse of the Heart.

May you live long enough to once again witness the Boston Red Sox lose the World Series to the New York Mets. πŸ˜›

I’m back….. I posted late yesterday the story of my crash – if you want to go back a day to read it.

Paulie – did you have time to go see if that hearth on Hightower was still there, or look at that one on Azelea?
Last week on BRAG I saw ZERO free standing hearths – I was very shocked at that. It gave me somethign to look for as I rode all those miles.

For everyone that has a bike that needs to be fixed – it is Bike Maintenance night at Kat & Mango’s. Or, just come & socialize, that is what I do (even though my bike does need some help this time, but I don’t know if Allan has the new handlebar tape for it)

  2. I read the accounts of your crash. It sounded scary and I’m glad you weren’t seriously hurt.

I had no time to get up that way yet. On Saturday I went southwest of town and on Sunday I spent the whole day in Gwinnett. I’m surprised that you didn’t see any hearths. I still need to relocate the ones I saw during the Wilson 100 and Beautiful Backroads last year.

I may swing by to Kat & John’s tomorrow just to socialize. The only things my bike needs now is to kick off the layers of dust which have accumulated, and for me to get my fat ass on it to ride.

  3. bob says:

Hey Barb, do you think you will be recovered enough for a ride Saturday?

This would also be an invite to you Paulie, dust off your bike and come up to Roswell for a ride.

  4. Barb says:

I thought maybe you’d swing by on the way to the Roswell Photo group last night.
I’d hope your bike doesn’t need work, though the dust could have it all messed up πŸ˜‰ Come on by & socialize TONIGHT for a few minutes.

  5. What time Bob? This would be the third thing that someone has mentioned for me to do on Saturday.

    – shooting at some old car junkyard in White, GA
    – run Star Whore’s Pine Like hash
    – riding with you in Roswell

    So. Many. Options!

  6. bob says:

Since it’s going to be a million degrees in the afternoon I’m thinking about an early ride, how about 8?
Then after the ride TV Hair and CrackPusher are laying the fathers day Atlanta Hash trail up in Roswell too. You can do an entire day OTP! Can you do it? Or will you have perimeter withdrawl πŸ™‚

  7. No time to swing by before the Photo Group since we met for dinner beforehand.

Oh wait, Maintenance night is tonight? Jeez, there’s obviously dust in my head too! What time do things go down? I’ll be waiting around to lend someone one of my tools, perhaps I can go have a few beers before heading to The EARL.

  8. Barb says:

I think I could ride now actually…..unless my knee scabs up so much that it hurts to pedal. So I should be able to ride on Saturday morning. Not sure about Allan, he is in a class all week, and I don’t know if that gives him Saturday off or not.

  9. Okay, I’ll make no commitments for Saturday today. I will by Friday (hey, it’s blogging material!) once I see the weather and whether or not the photoshoot is “on.”

  10. Barb says:

Now I may have to hash in Roswell too on Saturday – or actually bimbo or short cut – I’m not taking my wounded leg into any swamps.

  11. Martha says:

Barb, that’s so funny! TV Hair & Swamp….I don’t normally associate those two things.

I’m going to swing by John and Kat’s tonight, that way my bike will be ready if/when I ever get back on it. I’m in my third week of boot camp, so after next Friday I may have more time.

I ran last night @ 6:30, I barely lasted 4, too freaken hot out there! The good news is I get to start training for Chicago next month, that’s going to be AWESOME!

  12. > The good news is I get to start training for Chicago next month, thatÒ€ℒs going to be AWESOME!

Um, somebody has gone off the deep end…

  13. bob says:

Yeah, training through the summer for a marathon and you call that good news? That is a little nutty.

Anybody else is welcome to join us on Saturday too, not sure how far we will go though. Somewhere between 25 and 40.

  14. Hey Bob, where do you all meet to start this ride?

  15. betsy says:

I sensed some sarcasm in martha’s AWESOME. Martha, please tell me I’m right.

Too hot to type, much less run, nowadays. Barb–glad you’re okay.

  16. You sure there’s sarcasm there Betsy? This is the new “boot-camp lovin’, marathon running, ain’t gonna get snared laying Black Sheep” Martha that posted that comment. From the number of running accomplishments I’ve heard about Martha within the past year I think she actually enjoys beating herself up through exercise. πŸ˜€

  17. Barb says:

Martha – I thought any trail in Roswell goes thru that swamp πŸ˜‰ I’m just giving myself an excuse to not do trail. And – I sense only a little sarcasm coming from Martha, she has become a nut for exercise. And, that boyfriend thinks he’s her coach, so……. maybe it was serious.

Paulie – we will most likely meet at Riverside Park to ride, that way Laura can leave Bob a note to pick up more veggies from the farmers market, and it will be closed when we get back there, and he will be too late to do it.

  18. bob says:

We meet at Riverside park, it’s on riverside drive just east of highway 9.

And Martha, I just looked at my earlier post and realized it didn’t sound too nice. I didn’t mean to be mean.

  19. Okay, start duly noted.

    Fear misinterpretation? Use emoticons!

    put a : next to a ) and get πŸ™‚
    put a : next to a P and get πŸ˜›
    put a : next to a D and get πŸ˜€
    put a ; next to a ) and get πŸ˜‰

  20. bob says:

Yeah, I forgot to put the emoticon there πŸ™‚

  21. And my site has become slow as fucking molasses! It took me nearly ten minutes to get to my admin site so that I could correct the errors I made in my last comment.

  22. Martha says:

Bob, nutty is one of the nicer things I’ve been called (and its true), no offence taken πŸ™‚

Beating myself up exercising is way better than the alternative (my sister sent this today…its from her reception 10 years ago) because lord knows I like to eat and drink too much. Coach Jerry is looking at 3:30 for Chicago, I’m not the only nutty one.

  23. Barb says:

Martha – if I didn’t know that picture was of you, I’d swear it wasn’t.

BTW – is Coach Jerry running with you for all this hot weather training?

  24. betsy says:

God bless you martha. That picture is from a lifetime ago. Alternative is much better, even if you train long distance when the air is as thick as a swamp. 3:30 should be no problem for you! And no sarcasm in that statement btw a)a:

  25. betsy says:

Ok. Clearly can’t make emoticons. I’ll do it the old fashioned way. πŸ™‚

  26. Martha says:

I can’t even believe that is me. I’ve yo-yo’d so much over the years, I forget when I was fat and when I wasn’t. My sister sent some real winners from the 80s, they are totally awesome (that is sarcasm)

No Coach Jerry isn’t going to do the long runs with me, he’ll come out for some trail runs and open water swims but not the rest, he’s done his time I guess. We are doing a half marathon together in September.

Betsy, it looks like Peachtree City is still open…I need to sign up soon.

  27. Whew, all that talk of exercise convinced me to go have a huge lunch. Rubenesque figures FTW!

  28. Barb says:

I just had a cajun turkey po-boy at AJs, and little New Orleans sandwich shop. I really wanted to have an Abita beer with it, but decided I better not. I’d never make it thru the afternoon…….

  29. Mmmm sounds good, Barb. I tried a new restaurant called La Casona which it just ITP on Buford Highway (very near 88 Tofu House for those “in the know”).

My plate consisted of steak, a small sausage, rice, beans, a chunk of avacado, some plantains, and a small cup of rice pudding. To balance this, I restricted my drink to water. πŸ˜‰

  30. Jenka says:

Thank you Paulie! I’m having a pretty good day so far, lots of well wishes and such! I will have to write it all up for my blog post, which I still haven’t written today. Oh, the pressure! Hee!

Oh, and since y’all are talking about it, I went to Taqueria del Sol for lunch and had the salsa trio for starter followed by a Memphis taco and a fried chicken taco. And a Diet Coke.
