Look Steve, The Time Is Right!

I remembered to change the blog’s time to Standard Time, and even better, I learned that I can configure the blog so that the time shift occurs automatically in the future. Apparently somebody at Apple has similar problems with time as the Clock application on the iPhone is currently sounding alarms one hour too late.

Plans: They’re Meant To Be Altered
Life is odd. Yesterday I started listening to a Corb Lund concert podcast issued by CBC Radio 3. You might remember Corb Lund’s name from this blog because recently each time he plays in Atlanta I have had plans to attend a different concert on that same night. While listening to the Canadian Country singer I decided to see if Lund had posted any tour information for 2011 in hopes that I could finally catch his show, hopefully somewhere in his home country. To my surprise I found out that Lund and his band are opening for a show at Peachtree Tavern this coming Friday!

One problem, I’m going camping this weekend. Well, now it looks as if I’ll be leaving for Pine Mountain on early Saturday morning instead of Friday night as originally planned. Normally I wouldn’t change my plans in order to see an opening band, but I’ve missed Lund each time he’s come to Atlanta (well, since I first was introduced to his music) and really don’t want to miss another opportunity.

Early morning Majestic Diner breakfast before the return to Standard Time presented an opportunity to do a little long-shutter photography.
Majestic Diner With Taillights
The rest of the day included a trip to the Wing’s camera sale (I bought nothing), a drive around Butthead failing to find parking to get into the North Face store, having lunch at OK Cafe — whose food I sad to report is just OK these days, and believe it or not, going home and doing yard work.

East Atlanta Deadbeat Dads: Once A Juggernaut, Now Just Naughts
Oh boy, the once might East Atlanta Deadbeat Dads have returned to Earth with a mighty thud. Things were getting bad enough with two of my star players getting injured — one of which getting reinjured by leaving yesterday’s game with a concussion — and one now playing for a team which had a bye week. Then, my opponent out-and-out whipped my ass thanks to some stellar performances including 28 points from the Green Bay Packers defense (have I mentioned that I’m starting to dislike the Packers?).

The Double D’s are now (unofficially) 6-2 and tied for first place in my league, but fading fast.

What day were you in Buckhead? Where is the North Face store? Allan was there on Saturday, you could have stopped & said hi & parked there.

We went to the Falcons game sunday, excellent game, they seemed like they were trying to lose towards the end, but they pulled off the win. And – with the Browns beating the Patriots (who’d have ever thought that would happen?), Allan was a very happy football fan.

I did watch Amazing Race, so when you are done watching…….

  2. Lisa says:

Don’t diss my Packers…. I need something to be going right these days!!

  3. Barb, the North Face store is on West Paces Ferry (behind Pearson’s Package Store, next to Van Micheal and Whole Foods). Almost the entirety of their parking lot is “Reserved for Whole Foods” the other portion was valet. There were three cars otherwise I would have stopped in to say hello to Allan.

Barb, my recording cut off with two teams remaining. I went to CBS’ website to read the recap, so fire away. 😉

Oh Lisa, you have two wonderful loving children — you have it all. I seemed to have passed my September bad luck on to you guys (probably at LEAF), hope things turn around soon (read “pass it on to someone else other than me”).

  4. Vic says:

I love Monoprice.com. Friends don’t let friends buy overpriced Monster Cables!

  5. Barb says:

People that don’t read the clues……… is all I have to say. I can’t believe the blond hyper chick actually re-read the clue & went back & re-did that part of the race – I’m liking them more & more. But – what happened to the speed bump for the tattoo’d team? Weren’t they supposed to do one?

Lisa – don’t know what’s been going wrong, but I hope things get better.
Are you guys going coming down here for Thanksgiving & go to the Packers/Falcons game?

  6. Steve says:

The AROC’s amongst us appreciate your effort!!

We spend Saturday trying to stimulate the economy with a trip to equestrian nirvana- also called Dover Saddlery- if you can imagine a space half again as big as Performance, filled with tack and clothing, you have the idea. I thought to myself “this place has almost as much stuff as Debbie” but I was exaggerating just a bit.

After a lovely lunch at PF Chang’s (including fried green beans) we found our way over the N.E. Expressway and the hot tub dealer!! While we haven’t pulled the trigger yet, we are aimed and on target.

Sunday was spent with the in-laws and more tub shopping- note to self- don’t start with the Caddilac of hot tubs- everthing else looks inferior!!

  7. Stacy Fox says:

I’m going to choose to ignore that Packers comment. 😉

  8. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

I’m once again in an interview, so I can respond in full later.

However, re: Packers, I still owe you ladies a beer and I’m now at beer #120 at Taco Mac, perhaps I can combine celebrations. 😉

  9. Stacy Fox says:

Wait! You owe ME a beer? Really? Well, let’s go! Just say when. Even though I live in Guam, I at least work close to civilization these days. I can easily meet you at the Mac after work sometime.

  10. Lisa says:

Barb, we will indeed be in ATL for Thanksgiving. Should arrive sometime Tuesday afternoon/evening. Will you all be around? Looking forward to getting together if you are! No football game this time… Too expensive with the kids!

Paulie, you bet I will take you up on that beer you owe us. No PBR or Miller Light… It’s going to be one extra fancy beer!

  11. Barb says:

Lisa, silly girl – leave the kiddos with grandma…….. 😉

Yep – we will be definity around, Allan has Thursday & Friday off work for a nice change. And – if you need more kid pics with the fire engine & truck, Buckhead is a much nicer (& cleaner) station compared to the last one you visited.

  12. Lisa says:

The problem is Grandma is going to the game! Can’t wait to see you!

  13. Stacy, I owe you (and Lisa) a beer for the whooping the Packers put on my Jets. If I can last until Thanksgiving weekend in order to drink #125 then I’ll make an effort to get the Packer fans together at a Taco Mac and buy fancy-pants beers for everyone.

Barb, I completely forgot about the Speed Bump, certainly they performed it, perhaps it was too boring to show (read “he never called her a ‘moron’ while performing the Speed Bump”).

  14. Stacy Fox says:

Awww! That would be so awesome. I’ll actually be out in Colorado though so no fancy-pants beers for me. 🙁 I’ll do a raincheck though!

  15. Colorado, dang I forgot about that. I’d so love to have you present at the consumption of #125 given that you and I joined together.

  16. Terri(SW) says:

re: About the Amazing Race “speed-bump that wasn’t”-

In last week’s episode, Nick and Vicki completed the piano task much earlier, but there was a judging error. In fact…that last leg wasn’t meant to be a non-elimination leg, but became one because of their mess up. As a result, Nick and Vicki didn’t have to complete the speed bump.

  17. Barb says:

damn Terri- you pay such more attention than I do I guess – thanks for the update!

  18. Stacy Fox says:

I would love that too, Paulie! But I can always be there for #127! Errr…wait. That should be the same night. #150? 🙂

And watch the mailbox because you’ll probably be getting a postcard. It can’t nearly be as cool as a corn castle, but I’m going to try my best.
