Long Sleep, Short Blog

I just couldn’t get myself out of bed this morning. As a result, today’s blog will have to suffer. Yes, it can get worse. 😛

$25 Lost, $111 Found
In conjunction to my grousing yesterday about losing the $25 on the gift card I decided to do something that I should have done ages ago — check the balance remaining on a Sears gift card in my possession. Many, many years ago I bought two $500 Sears gift cards for a discount knowing that I’d be purchasing a new refrigerator. And I did. And it was good. For the life of me I could never remember the amount of cash remaining on the gift card that I had not used up.

Yesterday I saw that there was a number on the back of the card that I could call to find out the balance remaining on the card. That balance is $111. Now, what to buy with $111 a Sears? Wait, are there any Sears stores remaining in the Atlanta area?

I decided to get a little artistic using an iOS app called “Diptych” on my iPad.
Creative Destruction
Here are two shots that I took a week or so ago of the Red Rocket’s damage.

No Tac O’Mac For Me
In the off chance that I go anywhere tonight for a St Patrick’s Day beer I’ll be hitting up a Mexican establishment. You know, Mexican for St Patrick’s Day, Irish for Cinco de Mayo. Long gone are the days when I’d go and attempt to meet women in the crowded environs like Fado (RIP Buckhead) for St Patrick’s Day. That sort of maniacal environment is no longer in my comfort zone. Besides, with my jacked-up hip it’s not like I’ll be able to break out into some impromptu Riverdancing.

Of course I thought of heading to Taco Mac, it’s what I do, and I’m wearing my “official” Taco Mac St Patrick’s Day 2011 t-shirt today. However, today is also the first day of the NCAA Basketball Tournament (aka “March Madness”) so I’m certain that Taco Mac is going to be packed to the gills tonight.

The only reason we’ll be heading to an Irish pub tonight

is a friend’s band is playing. Otherwise, like you, I’m a big believer in eating Mexican tonight.

I can’t believe Barb didn’t comment before packing up to head to Raleigh 🙂

Paulie, should we try to send some Peacemaker back with them? Oh, and speaking of good beer, have you tried the New Belgium Mighty Arrow (pale ale) yet? It is their dedication to their Border Collie/Aussie Shepherd mix who “ran” the brewery for 12 years – obviously, we were looking forward to checking it out – and it did not disappoint.

  3. Ooooh, how did I forget to ask them to be NC beer mules? 🙂 If they are willing let Barb and Allan know that I am interested and good for the money.

I’ve been looking for the Might Arrow in our stores. Perhaps a trip to Total Wine is in order today.

Also, I forgot to mention how confused I was when my alarm clock went off on a Saturday morning — until I finally figured out that it was not Saturday morning. 🙁

There used to be a Sears at Northlake, if it’s still there.
Otherwise, there IS a free-standing one in Buford on Buford Hwy! I drive past it sometimes if I take that route. 🙂 I’d say come to that one and visit me for lunch….but something tells me you probably can use them on the website too, no?

  5. Steve says:

There is still a Sears at Northlake. At least there was the other week when I was up that way, but who knows?

  6. I think that you are correct and one still exists at Northlake. Perhaps I’ll stop by sometime soon and see if I can pick up some Tough Skins dungarees. 😉

  7. Michelle says:

There’s a great Sears up here at Cumberland Mall. Just bought me some vacuum cleaner bags there in fact!!

  8. Steve says:

They have Sears in Britain? Cool.

  9. Michelle says:

    Ha ha, Steve.
Yes, I am back in the ATL. : )
