Is The World Coming To An End?

What’s this wet stuff falling from the sky this morning?

Off to PT again this morning. I’ve already filled my belly with a two-egg sandwich with cheese (homemade; in hindsight I probably should have used the “fresher” eggs I have in my refrigerator and I should have weighed myself prior to shoving food in my face).

I Have A Bad Syncing Feeling
No, not because of my eggs — though Captain Worrywart wouldn’t be surprised if something bad happened to him due to his reckless food eating abandon, though I did cook the eggs thoroughly and ate the sandwich while it was piping hot.

Instead I’m talking about data syncing.

For the past few months iTunes has been syncing haphazardly. Often times when I go to listen to a podcast on my iPod Touch it starts playing from some random point within the podcast. For some reason I thought that this was caused by the order in which I synced my devices with iTunes but alas I cannot detect a pattern which causes this anomaly.

For the past few days my Google Calendar data syncing, which I do currently with an application called Spanning Sync, has been failing with a rather unsatisfying error “Google Returned An Unknown Error.” Really. That’s less than helpful.

A Reason To Ride Marta (Once?)
The other day I was scrubbing through my RSS reader and stumbled across an article title called Light Up Atlanta. If you click through to look at the article you’ll see photos of statues which are currently installed inside MARTA stations. I’d bring my camera with me and take the train around town — if only MARTA wasn’t such a pain in the ass organization which forbids photography within its stations without nonsensical permits.

Here’s A Concert I Won’t Forget
A few weeks ago I was offered the opportunity to go to Eddie’s Attic to hear Ben Sollee perform. Of course I jumped on the opportunity to get free entry, and tonight is the night of the concert. Cool. I’ll be certain to give you a recap tomorrow — or come out to Eddie’s Attic tonight and see (hear) for yourself!

Here’s A Concert I’m Considering Not Forgetting
Yesterday I received and email from the band Gomez alerting me that they are coming back to the United States this Summer. Gomez will make their Atlanta stop on Friday, July 22nd, hey, that’s my birthday!

I’ve seen the band perform twice before in Atlanta — once at Variety Playhouse, once at Center Stage (which now explains why my friend Kim was in one of my dreams last night).Unfortunately (for me) they’ll be playing The Tabernacle this time around and because of this I’m keeping this show as “tentative.” I’m not sure that I want to spend #46 at The Tabernacle.

I didn’t know you couldn’t take pictures inside a MARTA station.

And – because I know you wanted to know this – we are the proud new owners of a cement mixer. (Allan did seem to get a decent price). Now to just get started on digging & pouring the footings for this deck.
We also got a new big fan for the garage, so it will be much more confortable sitting around out there.

You may not like the number you saw today but now that you have a starting point, you can do something about it. I would worry too much about the ‘weight’ of your breakfast, in the grand scheme it is insignificant. And ‘fresher’ eggs…well the salmonella is either there or it isn’t, all eggs (with the exception of pasteurized) should be cooked thoroughly.

iTunes…ugh…every now and then I just ‘lose’ a song. As far as I can tell it hasn’t happened in awhile but still irritating.

Well I was told Monday, the contract was awarded. I was suppose to hear yesterday, the details, start day, location, etc…nothing yet. I don’t want to celebrate too soon, but I did buy a nifty new pair of Brooks Launch yesterday and wore them to the track last night.

I also found out yesterday that even thought I don’t subscribe to BBC America through Comcast, I can watch new Dr. Who (and other shows) through the on-line site…so excited!!!

  3. Great workout with the PT today. I’m sure I’ll be sore tomorrow or Friday. Hurray!

Yep, for some reason (probably attributed to “terrorism”) you are not allowed to take photos inside of MARTA stations. I found out a few years ago when I was told so by a MARTA employee and verified his information on their website.

Congrats on the cement mixer. 😉

All true, Martha. The eating before weighing only really bothers me because I’d like to take my weigh-ins under as identical of conditions as possible.

Congrats on your job offer! I meant to mention that to you yesterday but got distracted. As much of a nerd as I am I’ve never gotten into Dr Who. I’m told the current incarnation is an attractive man which further distances any interest I might have in the show.

  4. Martha says:

if your sore, you’re doing it right (hurt/pain is another thing)…

Thanks, the info is slowly trickling in…I will start on July 1st. A little strange to start on a Friday but at least I get my 3 day weekend. I’m still waiting to hear exactly where I’ll be working and what I’ll be doing…

I know certain folks just LOVE Matt Smith, he doesn’t do much for me…personally I liked the Ninth Doctor (Christopher Eccleston), not a popular choice. That’s just me…

  5. Barb says:

Allan’s a big Dr. Who fan….. I don’t know which one he likes the best though.

Martha – that is awesome to start on a friday, go in, maybe fill out some ppwk, find a desk, get your computer to work & then go home!

  6. Sarah says:

If y’all are scared of undercooked eggs, then you’d better stay away from my egg nog 🙂

  7. Martha says:

As a public health professional I feel obligated to state the party line, now what I do…that is a different story. I love me some runny eggs :))

Barb, that is just what I was thinking.

  8. Barb says:

I aint scared of runny eggs either……..

I wonder if I can talk the family into doing bacon & eggs & those sort breakfast things while I’m in Iowa – it has been a while since I’ve had a big breakfast.

  9. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

Actually, I rarely cook my eggs thoroughly. My scramble is soft, and fries always has a runny yolk.

  10. Martha says:

all this talk of eggs, I just had breakfast for lunch. A fried egg, with a runny yoke and an english muffin, yummy. Now I want to go to sleep.

  11. Sarah says:

Martha, next time have two eggs and you’ll get enough protein to counteract the sleepy carbs 🙂 I’m an egg professional!

  12. Martha says:

I had one egg, one turkey sausage and half a muffin…I’m full, don’t think I could ever eat two eggs at one time. It’s good to know there is an egg professional in my network.

  13. Barb says:

when Allan is making omelets, he’d rather do 3 eggs instead of 2. 3 egg omelet is a whole lot of omelet, so I’ve convinced him to try the 2 egg ones more often (at least for me).

  14. Stacy Fox says:

Hey Martha! Did you learn that from ME? YAY if so! 🙂

  15. Stacy Fox says:

I actually don’t mind Doctor #9… I think the problem most people didn’t take to him is that he really wasn’t around long enough. What? One and a half seasons, maybe two? Who doesn’t love the “Are You My Mommy?” episode? Freaky!

I’m a David Tennant girl myself, so give me Doc #10 please!

Paulie, I think you might like the show. It can get pretty campy, but it is so smart too. I’d start you out with “Blink” (which really is just a story on its own). Gotta love a weeping angel!
