I Need A Reboot

So much weird and stupid shit in my life. On top of that I keep thinking that today is Friday. Ugh.

Threepeat! (Sort Of)
Only a loser would go to the same Taco Mac three days in a row. So I went to a different Taco Mac last night. Last night I went to the Prado (better beer selection than Perimeter, far worse waitress collection). I sat there drinking my beer, eating my meatless taco salad, and playing with my iPad, when I heard Queen’s “We Will Rock You” play from the speakers.

“Oh shit, I need to make a call!” I thought.

Here’s the tie-in. I had promised ITP-Readers Lisa and Randy that I’d call them in order to finalize some travel plans for later in the year. When I was in Raleigh a few weeks ago their two-year old, who had learned the chorus to “We Will Rock You” and the bass/drum part after the chorus, would break out into song at random times. So when I heard “We Will Rock You” I thought of him, which reminded me that I need to call them.

When my mind works it works in mysterious ways.

Now That’s Fucked Up!
There have been many reasons that I’ve missed concerts. I was somewhat psyched to be seeing Canada’s Fucked Up for the third time. However, I had to make a pitstop at home before heading to The EARL, and had I only whipped around to get the good street parking space I passed. Once at home I started to get comfortable and contemplated not going to the show.

“No! Get the hell out of the house!” I thought.

I set the house alarm, opened the door, and then saw a small animal dart through my carport. Immediately the animal returned; it was a small, adorable, precocious cat, complete with DeKalb Animal Control collar. As I tried to read the tags on the collar the cat swatted at bugs and never stayed still. It ran around my legs, jumped up onto the carport wall, meowing the whole time. I tried to leave it behind in order to get into my car, but it ran in front of me and started rolling around on the ground.

Harumph! Cute, but harumph!

Fearing that this cat was too young to realize the damage that a car would do to it (not that I could live with myself had I injured it) I decided to take the “I’ll go back into the house and hope it gets bored and goes away.” tact. When I opened the door twenty minutes later not only was the little guy (or gal) still at my door, it now made a mad dash to enter the house. After the fourth extraction of cat from house I was able to close the door with the cat outside (each time I put the cat down it managed beat me back in to the house).

And that’s why I was deprived of seeing Fucked Up last night. Seriously, I can’t make this shit up.

I like the graphic look of this shot though I wish that the bee were doing something interesting.
Eleven O'Clock
I did a little post-processing on this, but not a whole lot. I thought about trying to “heal” the imperfect petals, but in the end decided to leave them as is.

What Am I Going To Do, I’m Not Going To Taco Mac Tonight!
I’m doing something better…

Originally I had planned to introduce my buddy Jason to Barb and Allan because he needed work done on his bicycle. Tonight was picked, and of course Jason is now unable to go. I’m still going however and will be bringing a bottle of red wine with me.

[Barb, I rushed out of the house and I forgot to pack work clothes so I don’t know how much cement work I can help with tonight. I also forgot to pack wine, so I’ll be getting some on my way.]

I’m looking forward to the evening and discussing bike purchasing plans, seeing the progress with the GarageMahal, and eating steak made in their Black Ninja.

The kitty seemed hungry, but I don’t think you got the memo. It was a day for lost pets yesterday. As I walked/drug myself in from my run last night, a guy with a whippet mix on a leash asked me if I was from the neighborhood and did I recognize the dog. He said he was looking for the owner, but I couldn’t be much help.

Tonight there shall be no exercise, but hopefully some repairs to the pool mechanicals. If I don’t make the repairs, SoCo will be able to hash through the pool and feel right at home, as it is already a lovely shade of GREEN!

  2. As cute as the cat was I knew that feeding it would mean that I’d be seeing a lot more of it. Believe it or not I still miss JFK (too long of a story for those who’ve not been in the ITP-Universe for a long time) so the thought of “owning” another pet has never been acceptable for me. There was also another cat which hung around the neighborhood for a while that I no longer see. Besides, last night’s feline was somebody else’s since it had a collar.

Wait, Canada Day is in your neck of the woods? When I talked to One Ball he said it was going to be way north (and a Canadian should know his North from his South).

Good luck with the pool. When you get around to scheduling a Day Spa drinking/domino weekend let me know. 🙂

  3. Steve says:

There does need to be a spa day soon, but the pool must be tamed first.

  4. Martha says:

Lucky you, we’ve had Bode for a year and a half, since he was a tiny baby and the only time he wants anything to do with me is if I’m going to the bathroom or trying to sleep.

I blew off Crossfit this morning, I mean I showed up at the gym, did my warm up and realized my head was not in the game. Doing handstand push-ups and swing around 35 lbs of metal deserves your undivided attention. So I just told my coach I was going for a run…it felt pretty good. No tight calves, no foot pain…it must be the shoes 😉

The reason my mind was somewhere else…a needed to make a decision about the job today. I accepted job offer 2 (project lead) and had to rescind my acceptance of job offer 1 (that was really hard and made me feel like a flake)…but after talking with my old boss and Jerry, it is an opportunity that wont come around often and could be the next step to management (if I chose that route). I’ll be starting very soon, not tomorrow but most likely next week.

I’ve said it before, but I think a pet would be good for you and a cat is (relatively) low maintenance. I know it is hard to lose them but there is always room in the heart for another.

Count me in for drinking and dominoes, with the new job, I wont have any time off for awhile.

Once again you pic (very nice btw) is making me wish I had planted sunflowers this year.

  5. Barb says:

Martha – I wouldn’t feel bad if I was you, take the job you think you will like the most, because that is the most important – you don’t want to hate going to work everyday.

Paulie – I really find it funny you are blaming a stray cat on not going to the concert…….. I’ll pick on you more about that tonight I’m sure 😉

and Steve – I’m not scared of a green pool……. but I have no idea when we’d have some free time for a spa day, but I really could use a spa day……..

I have 2 packages of sunflower seeds I never planted on my kitchen table, I wish I had gotten around to that.

BTW – red tomatoes are starting to multiply – Allan is so happy. And – I had forgotten I planted a yellow tomato plant, can’t wait to taste that one, I wonder what it will taste like!

  6. Barb says:

damn craziness in the transportation world for end of the month…… I’m looking forward to that steak dinner & a glass (or two) of wine………

  7. Mee too. I’m hoping they’ll help my stupid stuffy nose with sneezing go away as well. I have a meeting until 5pm and plan to be on my way to your place soon thereafter.

  8. Barb says:

oh yeah – and Allan has already told me that the cement mixer was well worth the money………. hopefullyhe & his dad will be all done before I get home.

  9. Stacy Fox says:

Okay: first, yesterday we don’t get a picture of your Crayola Fish. And now we don’t get one of the Cutest Kitten Ever? I’m not dissin’ on the flowers, mind you (they’re gorgeous!)….but come ON! 🙂

  10. Even if I had a camera at my disposal last night it was dimly lit and that cat wouldn’t stay still for two seconds.

  11. Randy says:

Glad Freddie and the boys were there to remind you last night – we also picked up our Lake Eden Arts Festival (LEAF) tix last night. For any other ITP readers who might be considering a trip to the best music/crafts festival this side of the Pecos, we are car camping in the Mountain Top campground for the October LEAF. Thanks again for calling us – quick note: we listened to We Will Rock You about 50 times today during our 8 hour trip from Raleigh to Columbus, OH. Luckily, we were also able to listen to Fat Bottom Girls a couple of times as well… 🙂
