I Didn’t Go To Taco Mac

I went to its sister bar “The Fred” instead. πŸ˜‰

Hey Man, Watch This
So I finally got the battery in my watch replaced. When I left work “early” yesterday I decided to head to Perimeter Mall to get the darn deed done. I rebuffed at the $17 estimate I got from the It’s About Time store, and relented to the $15 estimate that I got from the little jeweler near the food court. Fifteen dollars still seems like a lot of money to replace a battery in a watch for which I paid no more than $90, but at least the time is correct when I look at the watch now.

Yesterday also reminded me that I am not a “mall” person. I don’t care how many attractive young ladies saunter through mall, the twenty minute wait for my watch repair was excruciating. Not even a trip into a jam-packed Apple store could sooth my nerves. Have I ever mentioned that I don’t feel like I don’t fit in with the American Society?

An Extra Mile Because Of Theresa
Theresa was my sweet waitress last night at The Fred. She served me up two wonderful beers and an awesome “BLT” (brisket, lettuce, and tomato) sandwich before flashing me a cute smile while convincing me to get dessert. Oh, I guess I should mention that dessert was a wonderful glass of soft-serve ice cream made with Guinness Stout. Because I have no ability to refuse food and drink when served by such an adorable waitress I forced myself to put in an extra mile on this morning’s run/walk.

Now if we could only do something about this heat and humidity. 80ºF at 5:30am? Seriously?

I thought we were all going to party like it was 1999 last night as I heard that one of the patrons at the bar had 1999 beers to his credit and that he was going to wait to get credit for 2000 when the bar was going to have a party for him and another man who has surpassed 2000 beers (kinda puts my 280 to shame). But then the night took a somber turn when another man at the bar confessed that he was there because it was his “Wake Day.” Apparently his son was killed in a car accident last week and they laid him to rest yesterday. Very sad.

ITP Flickr Pic
While doing laundry the other night I decided to play with my iPhone’s camera and an app called “Fat Booth.” I wanted to see how Fat Booth would handle this pattern on the countertop.
Melting
Art? No.
Interesting? Perhaps.
Space-filling? Definitely.

It’s Lion Day. Really, No Lying
As an Apple Fanboy and Shareholder I am obligated to remind you that Apple is releasing their new operating system today. Hearing that Apple’s stock (AAPL) eclipsed $400/share last night makes me feel a little foolish have sold most of mine already for much less. Don’t shed a tear for me though, while it’s not like I’ve gotten wealthy from my initial investment I’ve done pretty okay for myself.

Ooooh, also released today were new Mac Minis and MacBook Airs. Anyone still needing to decide what to buy me for my birthday? πŸ˜€

Is Today New Bike Day Too?
Because I had to leave the house early in order to get in a run/walk this morning I wasn’t able to get my turkey breast into the crockpot. However I did remember to pack my cycling shoes this morning so I may head to Roswell after work to see about getting a new bicycle. (Now if only my hip would return to pre-wreck condition.)

Hell, I might as well try and make this a vegetarian day too. ITP-Readers Barb or Bob, do they have vegetarian options in Roswell? πŸ™‚

Related: The stereo receiver I lamented about yesterday is already back in stock at Amazon, but I think I am going to wait to see how much money I spend on my new ride before spending that money.

you are too funny – like I would know of a vegetarian restaurant in Roswell?
I’m thinking if I was you, I’d call/text/email Laura………. but I’m sure there is something in the downtown Roswell/Canton St. area.
Olive Garden for salad & breadsticks? πŸ˜‰

2000 beers at the same bar, you figure at $4-$5 a beer (plus food at least some of the time) – DAMN, that dude has spent way too much time & money at that place. They should throw him a party.

  2. I’m sure Jackass has had 2000 PBRs at The Highlander. πŸ™‚

My stance on the Brewniversity is the same as with a mortgage — don’t look at the money you are spending, just spend it. Who knows, in this housing market I may get a better return from the beer drinking.

  3. Martha says:

    I see 2000 beers and start counting calories/pounds…figuring 150 calories a beer, that’s 85 pounds!!

I usually like your photos but this one just makes me anxious…the colors, the swirl, not sure what it is…sorry.

I was thinking about you and your camera today, I have a really cool dragon fly, that hangs out by the pond, bright green and electric blue…I’d love to get a shot of him but my camera just isn’t up to the job.

I’ve had to start eating on my own again this week, sort of a pain, both Jerry and I making dinner but I just can’t eat when and what he does and keep my weight under control Being back to work is helping but I had to take that extra step. I hit the gym last night at 5:30, then was back at 5:30 this morning. I’m whooped today.

  4. Hahaha, it’s funny how we all see that number differently.

Don’t be sorry about not liking the photo. One of the goals of “art” (not that I consider my work art) is to affect its viewers.

Sounds like a neat dragonfly. I’m sure I could get a good shot given enough time and patience.

  5. Barb says:

where is that crazy countertop? I don’tknow about that design……. at the laundry?

  6. It’s at the laundromat near Las Tortas Locas.

  7. I do not like Alberto Contador, and I’m liking Samuel Sanchez less each time he helps him.

  8. Barb says:

    damn Spainards…….

  9. Steve says:

Just read the play by play… “Voekler in the car park!” Might have to watch that finish.. sounds like it’s all coming down to Saturday’s TT.

  10. Barb says:

I just hope we can watch it tonight before 11pm, I was half asleep watching last night.

  11. Eric Nuesslein says:

Apple Retail Stores as a whole are insanely popular nowadays. I can remember a time when going into them meant that you could get some assistance, check things out, fiddle with them and the like. Nowadays, the ones I go to (there are a few different ones in the city and on long island) are rarely “unbusy”

In a related note….I feel I am in dire need of an iPhone upgrade. My 3G(no S) is still chugging alone fairly nicely for a three year old phone, but with the rumors of possibly the iPhone 4S possibly being released at the end of next month, I’m probably better off waiting. You know all too well how hard it is for our family to wait and make the sensible decision! lol

  12. It is difficult to wait. I commend you on sticking with the 3G. I had to bail on mine when the 4 was announced last year.

  13. Hmmm, this weather may convince me to wait until tomorrow for bike purchasing.

  14. Barb says:

hey “human excuse generator” – really? I’m sure the weather will be gone in a minute – it blew thru Marietta in about 15 minutes………

  15. We’ll see. The rain may pass but it’s impact on traffic may linger. I can always go tomorrow at lunch, or even after work. I’m not feeling like stressing about things today.

  16. Besides, I may have a better offer involving going to a place which rhymes with Maco Tac.

  17. Martha says:

Well there is pretty much the same chance of rain for tomorrow, so you might as well, bite the bullet and go or you might miss your chance.

  18. Barb says:

but – since you’ve never been to Maco Tac, its a tough, tough decision…….
