Winner! Winner! I Ate Too Much Dinner!

Look who’s been able to get up early all week and get into work by 6:30am again! Now if I could only figure out how to convince myself to go to the gym and start working off this mound of fat that I have.

Because I was in early I left “early” yesterday, around 4:30pm. I fought my way through Atlanta’s shitty traffic all the way down to 17th Street, where I got off to go to IKEA. With only weekday crowds around me I sauntered through the store quickly, making my way to the lighting section. There I was searching for the FløgenhÅ«fen lamp. Actually, I made that name up. I had no idea of the name of the lamp I was seeking because I could neither find it using my iPhone nor the in-store catalog. However I knew the lamp I was seeking was uniquely shaped and that if I saw it I would recognize it immediately. And I did. I’d link you to the page for the lamp I bought here, but I still can’t find it on IKEA’s website.

What’s interesting about my purchase is that I don’t want the lamp at all, I’m interested in its base, which is a long, slender, arching black pole. Instead of the lamp I plan to hang my newly-purchased Ministry of Funny Walks mobile from it. In the worst case scenario if the mobile doesn’t look good I still have a new lamp.

No Creative Mornings For Me Today
Unlike the last Friday of the past two months I’m skipping Creative Mornings Atlanta today. Why? Because today’s topic is INK and is being presented by a local tattoo artist. I couldn’t think of a topic for which I have less interest, so I decided not to vie for a ticket this month.

Always. Read. The. News.
Or stay current with The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Had I done either of these I would have known that Kraft Foods is planning to merge with Heinz and we would have gotten full credit for that answer last night. I threw out Heinz as a guess, but had no comfort with it, so we went with Del Monte.

Turns out we didn’t need that answer as we squeaked out the win last night. I was not much help last night other than providing the answer “ESPN U” as one of the four English-speaking sister stations of ESPN.

As an added bonus last night I was gifted a six-pack of Orpheus Brewing beer by ITP-Reader Stacy. W00t!

Home Alone
After partaking in a short happy hour tonight I think I am going to head home and stay there all weekend alone. “How’s that different than 90% of your other weekends?” I can hear you mutter. Meh. Whatevs.

I have multiple reasons for declaring this a “Home Alone Weekend”. First, I feel as if I have been burning the candle from both ends this week and can use a little downtime. Second, we’re going to get smacked with one more cold front and I won’t want to be making my maiden cycling voyage during it. And finally I have a wrath of house projects that I want to tackle and if I can get half of them done I will be thrilled.

What’s on your agenda for this weekend?

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

The purchase of the cell repeater from Best Buy yesterday was perfectly simple. Why this wasn’t accomplished when we went to the store last weekend is unclear. The process of hanging the antenna however is a two person job and Debbie and I were otherwise occupied last night so we’ll try again today.

Other than a meeting on the Games field tomorrow before the wrap up, we fooled them again party, we have no other plans. Exercise is a must at some point.

We are having a hopefully fix a bike problem dinner tonight, Allan thinks its the lack of actual real mechanical knowledge by the owner, but he thinks the bike is toast. We will see………..

Saturday not sure yet- I’d like to go for a decent hike or bike ride. Allan is working, Felicia & I are meeting some friends for dinner & maybe pub crawling on the Marietta Square that evening.

Sunday is a bike riding day, since it may be cold, I’m thinking it will end up being a mtn biking day.

I knew about the Heinz/Kraft merger – I could have been helpful last night! Allan got the garden tilled, so I planted some colder weather veggies, snow peas, spinach, broccoli & lettuce.

Leaving at noon with a bunch of hooligans to invade Charlotte for the weekend. Faster Mustache is putting on a “stage race” all around downtown Charlotte. 30 miles of in town trails with racing stages thrown in. Should be a fun full day on the bike. Tonight is critical mass and we are all doing that as well.

We posted on the tour de charlotte facebook page looking for a place to stay and some dude who turned out to be a college buddy of one of the hooligans offered up his back yard for us to camp in. Thankfully I have lots of cold weather camping gear.

Not sure about the shower, we may be a stinky group come Sunday

There will be fence building at the new homestead this weekend! I expect it will be a much easier project than fence fixing, but we’ll see.

Debbie – we need more notice, though you know how much Allan loves his palm nailer.
