This One Goes To Eleven

Honesty time:
About a month ago I decided today’s title was going to be “This One Went To Eleven” and was going to end this blog today. This is also why yesterday’s title was “Penultimate”, just in case I went through with it.

My lackluster blogging for more than a year has weighed heavily on me. It’s not like this is my job, but I just haven’t been able to make the time to do this well. And so many blogs have expired, I figure that today might be the day to extinguish this one.

Why today?
Because today marks the eleventh anniversary of this blog’s first post (waaaaay back when Blogspot was a thing).

Eleven years, some of them good.

But I’ve come to realize that even if no one reads this space that I need it. Besides, what else am I going to do, rejoin Facebook? Fat fucking chance of that…

Last night’s 25-mile ride was wonderful. Of course I ran into my boss as I got back to my car, and I proceeded to go out and ruin it with a few beers and some pizza.

Trivia returns tonight? I hope so.

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

Trivia returns tonight! 🙂 There will be beer! And pizza! And laughter galore!

Paulie, without your blog, half of us have barely any means to communicate with you! I like your blog. It also lets us communicate with each other, and that’s pretty cool. (You’re providing a service, you see!) *grin*

  2. Thanks.

It is the only way I find out about what’s happening on the Facebooks. 🙂

Oh, and in case you all didn’t know: Today’s title is a reference to my second-favorite movie — This Is Spinal Tap — which celebrates its 31st anniversary this year.

  3. Steve says:

I know the reference- Spinal Tap is a great movie.

We’re all glad to have this- to keep tabs on you and with each other. This really is really a predecessor to FB, so you were clearly ahead of your time. (I know, a bit of a reach, but still…)

Last day in the orifice until 10/21. The forecast looks good for the next week or so, which will also give the field a chance to dry. The new location of the front gate is where the entire field drains, so this rain hasn’t been helping.

The barn has 90% of the roof on. The last piece needed to be re-notched where it meets the existing building, and I was quickly running out of daylight, so moved ahead with what simply needed to be screwed down- and still finished about a quarter past 8 (with a headlight). Debbie got the temporary light strung, so you can now see it from space (her criteria).

    Let’s go Cubbies!!

    Yaaaaay Cubbies! 🙂

(yep, just had to throw that in here)

  5. Steve says:

And a Cubbies/Mets playoff might be exciting. I think the Series is already won by most of America by having the Yankees lose in the wild card.

  6. Except for my brother, who is a life-long Yankees fan.

  7. HamWithCam says:

Face your fears Paulie. Join the FB borg. Assimilate.

Think of The FB as beer. It’s OK for you to only have 1 or 2.

    OK, bad analogy.

  8. Stacy says:

Facebook really isn’t all that evil. You don’t share shit, you don’t have any problems. 🙂 It IS a nice way of keeping track of events and stuff. Even if you lurk, you can still keep in the know with everyone else.

I would be kind of amused how many notifications or messages you’d have there if you ever decided to log back in. I know I myself sent you one today just for kicks.

  9. Barb says:

this blog is a great way to communicate with you Paulie – we are ok with your content.
I’m busy as shit at work these days………. retail crap all is getting shipped for the Christmas shoppers.

  10. Steve says:

And to actually keep up with you, we might have to see you in person! Or call you on the phone- SO twentieth century.

  11. Stacy says:

    Wait. Phones make calls?!

  12. bob says:

Your content is fine Paulie. This is a great way to keep up with you since I don’t get out as much as I used to. But it is your blog and your time so if you feel it has reached the end than so be it. I’ll have to find another blog to lurk on 🙂

I’ll keep clicking refresh tomorrow hoping it is not so.
