Anticipation

Still waiting…

I’m back from Raleigh, finally rested, but don’t have much to say.

Do You Hulu?
I’m contemplating signing up for Hulu. Do you use Hulu? Do you pay for the commercial-free option?

Back To My Routine
Today I will be headed to LA Fitness (it’s February!) to either ride a stationary bike, or look to see what sort of elliptical machines they have to offer. While in Raleigh I joined Lisa on trips to the YMCA where we used theirs, and I liked it quite a bit. We also did a Bosu Ball aerobics class, I won’t be looking for that offering any time soon.

From LA Fitness I may head to Chamblee to do laundry, or to the library in Chamblee in order to do some coding. I need to keep improving my skills, because I shouldn’t count my chickens before they hatch.

Oh Wait!
I have committed to two events with the Urban Explorers of Atlanta. Next week I will be going to a “Mystery Dinner” to be held in Oakhurst. On April 9th I will be doing a bike tour that visits historic Battle of Atlanta sites; the tour leaves from Oakland Cemetery, actually cycles past the ITP Estate (!), and winds up near the Carter Center; here’s a map of the ride:

Have a great hump day!

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

    busy at work –
I don’t see a route on that map.
Debbie came & spent the night so she could get some better sleep that staying at the hospital.
I need to go to the Y tonight.

Just finished installing a new Cisco video conference unit for our not quite as talented video staff. 2 giant 70″ screens. Oh. What. Fun.

As Barb said, Debbie was nearer the hospital last night, so I was on horse duty last night and this morning. The equines almost cooperated. Mac was left to his own while I walked Phinney and Gus. Only problem was Mac decided he liked Phinney’s stall better. We can have that, as Gus will melt down if he’s not next to Phinney. There were some strong words exchanged to convince Mac he was in the wrong spot, but he was so scared he could barely move. I finally had to tie Phinney up and lead Mac to his stall. Everyone was happy at that point. Oh, did I mention it was POURING!

This morning, except for Zelda holding up progress while she went walkabout, it was an easy feed and release.

    There will be suffering tonight.

I didn’t get a job offer. I am so confused and depressed by this.

  4. Steve says:

Did they explain their reasoning or just said they made another selection?

  5. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

My life has been completely thrown into question now.

  6. Steve says:

Just keep at it- something will hit.

    • Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

I no longer share your confidence. I have failed too often at the one thing at which I thought I was a success.

      • Barb says:

Have you actually applied for very many jobs?

        • Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

Enough. My failure to receive job offers from any of my last four interviews with companies basedk in Atlanta has me questioning myself.

I have long-since accepted my station as an unwanted boyfriend/husband/partner because I had my career on which I could hang my hat. That is obviously no longer the case.

          • Barb says:

I know it sucks, and you really wanted this particular job, for many reasons. Something will come along, just keep working your network.

          • This meant everything to me and I failed.

          • Steve says:

Go back and read what HwC wrote a few weeks ago about applying… and network, network, network!! Like Bob said, you have a large network of friends who will listen to you, drink with you and encourage you. We are here for you.

  7. bob says:

That sucks dude, hate to hear it. You are good at what you do and your dedication to work will get the attention of the right employer.

You have had one hell of a sabbatical so reflect on the good times right now. Give it a few days then dust yourself off and get back to it.

Also remember that you have PLENTY of friends out here if you want to talk, vent, get drunk, whatever. We are here for you so reach out if you need to.
