I’m Too Early

Currently sitting in the M6, awaiting this morning’s Creative Mornings Atlanta, about thirty minutes before I should be here. The reason I am so early is two-fold. The last time the event was held here I left because so didn’t find parking; turns out there are two parking lots but no one ever notified me of this. The other part of the reason is that I cut my morning workout down to thirty minutes on the elliptical because I just wasn’t “feeling it” today; something is better than nothing, right?

Good Times At Happy Hour
ITP-Reader Steve and I had a decent time at RiRa last night. We each had a couple of beers and shared an order of “lamb poutine”.

After happy hour I would my way toward East Atlanta and decided along the way that I needed more food. My food of choice was a slice of sicilian pizza at Fellini’s Pizza.

Another Step Complete
After returning home I returned to getting my new Mac Mini up to speed. I’m still not to the point to where I can automatically kick off app builds of my theoretical app, but I am getting there.

Have a great weekend.

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

  1. No links today, blog was written using my iPhone.

Skipped the “Y” this morning to instead vacuum the “water” (and other yuck) out of HVAC #4 overflow pan. Nasty.

I measured 78F in the conditioned part of the attic (finished space, top floor) and 72F where the HVAC mechanicals are located. Global, errr…Climate Change. I figured taking advantage of the early morning cool was prudent.

Me HVAC man has some work at Emory, but should be able to make it here around “lunch time”.

Meanwhile, I count the following in for Tuesday 11:29am at OK Cafe (all are welcomed):
    – Barb
    – Allan
    – Steve
    – Paulie
    – HamWithCam

For all those exiting through the “gift shop”, I’ll be providing free Tootsie Rolls…

  3. I am such a loner that even at events designed to help you meet people I can’t do it. I am more comfortable watching from the grandstands.

Wished I had worked out harder this morning. I have eaten three mini donuts and want more but can’t allow myself to have any.

    • ITP Lurker says:

Yeah, I know that loner feeling well. The beginnging of the way out for me has been to take tiny risks, realizing the world doesn’t actually end when I do. Example: a stranger smiled at me this week. I looked away, as I always have. Caught myself, returned the smile and got a second smile in return. Next time around I’ll be a little bit more empowered. Fucking fear sucks, you have to lean into it to steal its power.

You’re in good company, no matter how alone you feel.

      • HamWithCam says:

Fear of people crowds, interaction, etc. is a big deal. Whenever I’ve had to speak before large (or even small) groups, I take a deep breath and just do it. I figure if Bill G. can do it, so can I. 🙂

In related news, I was at the Lenox food court one time. As we ate I watched as an employee, a woman, went about her job of cleaning up tables, etc.

She never spoke, few spoke to her. Her face never changed, it was if she was anonymous, invisible as she moved among those eating lunch, chatting. When she came around where we were sitting, I made a point of making eye contact and smiled, as I gathered up my trash, etc. She smiled back.

I’ve seen her numerous times since. Same stoic countenance as she goes about her job. I always make eye contact and smile and she always smiles back. It cost me nothing.

ITP Lurker, join us at OK Cafe Tuesday if you can.
The food is good and you can’t beat free Tootsie Rolls.

        Tuesday, 11:29am.
        But smile, so we’ll know it’s you….

        • Barb says:

to the being invisible part – there was a TV show this past year (I think it got cancelled) called Timeless. They time traveled back to different points in history, and the 1 black guy Rufus (I love that name BTW) would say watch – I’m totally invisible so I can do______ and no one will notice! (because he was black). I had never thought about it, but there are people that you just don’t notice.

          • Stacy says:

It got canceled and then got revived, Barb! 🙂 I heard it’s coming back and I’m happy. I really liked that show.

Thanks for the invite, John. I’m not there yet on IRL. But someday. It’s been a minute since I’ve had a tootsie roll but I do appreciate OK Cafe.

  4. Steve says:

I’ll be off to pick up my car shortly and will update after that.

Allan got rained on pretty good one the moto on the way home last night. If he had any other clothes with him, he’d have stopped at RiRa. (can’t drink in uniform)

I stopped at Publix for a pizza crust – got rained on doing that – and we made a pizza with leftover chicken & other toppings in the fridge.
Watched a movie – Dr. Strange – didn’t do much for me, but he could be interesting in the next Thor film.

TONIGHT – LEARN TO CURL!!!! should be interesting – doesn’t start until 9pm.
Debating on eating at home before, or going somewhere around the Prado. Any suggestions? Taco Mac (no), Five Seasons (maybe) Genki (maybe) are the only places I know off the top of my head.

  6. Steve says:

Drum roll please… $230!! Included an oil change and swapping a spark plug to clear a misfire code. My regular mechanic supposedly did a tune up that should have fixed it, but I think they gave it the sunshine treatment. If this sticks, I may have a new mechanic.

Nice having a beer (or 2) with Paulie last night. I’m sure that bar could get noisy, but it wasn’t too crowded so I could hear.

Going to check the radar and head out for a ride.

Happy Friday and have a great weekend.

  7. Lunchtime bonus today: walked over to Colony Square to get meatball sandwich and garlic knots from food truck, and saw ITP-Reader Laura, the better half of ITP-Reader Bob, there.

Meatball sandwich and garlic knots were fattening, but so delicious.

  8. Steve says:

Wait, what?? What was she doing there?

  9. HamWithCam says:

    “It’s back…”
HVAC #4 back online and operational.
(Clogged condensate line. Condensate backed up, spilled over into catch pan, “high water” switch cut everything off. I still don’t understand how water got to the ceiling below? Leaky corner seams in catch pan? Dunno.)

I look (and smell) like a day laborer. Time for a shower…
