#8. You don’t preach (in my humble opinion anyway)
#6. I don’t necessarily agree with. I think it’s very OK to whine now and again as long as it’s not the only thing you do. And it’s not the only thing you do.

#8: Thank you, Stacy, your feedback means a lot to me. Because I’ve weaseled my way into this community, I still feel like an interloper. I do try to be mindful about what I write, and regardless, my intentions are good. Paulie can have a completely different life if he chooses. I know all too well what’s in his head, and I’ve said before I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

I’m slowly remaking my own life, and this space gives me a chance to process some of what’s in my head. If *I* can remake *my* life, Paulie can too. I’m trying to hare the trail for him, we’ll see if he follows the flour or not. I’ve never hashed, but I did host a hash at my house once, and a few years back I spent a lot of time with hashers.

I’m still very much in what I call the “feral cat” stage, where I want to be around people, not not too close. Hashing events have way too many people in one space, and my body can’t take the drinking. I get punished by my body if I cross a certain line with alcohol.

#6: True, when done in moderation. πŸ™‚

And there is much shiggy on the path to recovery. Can’t avoid it, gotta just dive right in. Paradoxically, standing on the sidelines is not the path of least resistance. Plunging in through the brier patches, poison ivy, kudzu, etc. is the easiest way out.

The hard way is sometimes the shortest way, but also carries the most effort/risk/obstacles. There is no easy way out- the work has to be done.

I’m glad we can be a part of that path for you.

          • ITP Lurker says:

Very true. That fucking fear keeps us from heading down the path to redemption. I will say again that doing the work sucks, but it truly sucks WAY less than not doing the work. We give our fear a blank check on our life if we don’t stare it down head on.

In any case, thank you, Steve. Your thought means a lot to me.

        I’m glad you’re here Lurker. πŸ™‚

Oh and speaking of hash hosting (er, cause we were?), I’m hosting this weekend’s. Yaaaaaaaaaasss I’m giving away the ending for any hasher who reads ITP blog! Though it shouldn’t be much a surprise, as I always host the pride weekend hash.

Thank you, Stacy. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ It’s always brightens the blog when you choose to chime in on things.

Good luck hosting the hash! It sounds like you do know full well what you’re in for. πŸ™‚

    Some good stuff right there.

A very short Games meeting last night. If it hasn’t already been taken care of, it’s likely not happening at this point.

The Green Eggs have already landed, as their event is Saturday. Barb, you’ll be able to see our trailers parked in front of the police station. I should be around them, or ask anyone “over the fence” with a radio to call me.
