Yesterday I put a flannel sheet set back onto my bed because I am tired of being cold.

Okay, this is about yesterday’s post because I didn’t see it until today.
But what is making you angry about those businesses? I’m confused.

    • Wells Fargo is taking away the ATM I use most often, and Octane (Revelator) has reduced their hours so that I can no longer go there for a coffee (or beer) after work and before German class. Both companies are well within their right to do this, but it directly impacts me as their customer.

    good morning –
Well……… the new job is a done deal – gave my 2 weeks notice yesterday afternoon – I start at the new place Monday 3/26. Best part about my 2 weeks is that I will be on vacation for 3 of the days!!! I’m very nervous about this new job – I have been doing basically the same thing for almost 20 years. BUT – I need a new challenge.

    • Daaaaaaaamn, you are a woman of action!

Congrats, I hope this new job doesn’t keep you too busy to pop in and say hello on the blog occasionally.

      Good luck with the change.

    • Stacy says:

Oh my gosh Barb, congratulations! That’s wonderful! I’m so happy for you! 🙂

    • Steve says:

Woot woot!!! Go Barb! I’m sure it will be a big improvement.

      • Barb says:

I guess I’m good (or bad) at looking for a new job, it was really the 1st one I interviewed for. I was only thinking it wouldn’t be right, and would be good interviewing practice. But- I really liked the people, and they are willing to think I can learn what they do. And -its very different than what I’m doing now.

        • ITP Lurker says:

Congratulations, Barb! You’ll be even more marketable once you master the new gig. It’s good to have options.

        • Debbie Brady says:

That’s great news! I’m sure you’ll have the new stuff down quickly and how nice to get out of a toxic workplace.

I bet giving notice was a huge relief after all the crap you’ve dealt with.

          • Stacy says:

Oh my gosh – I didn’t even think about that. How did they react? Were they surprised? I bet that must’ve been an amazing feeling!

          • Barb says:

I had a nice chat with my managers boss. I told him honestly why I was quitting, but I was nicer about it than I wanted to be. He of course asked me to reconsider……….
HAHAHA. nothing will change, it hasn’t in the past 3 years, why would I believe them now.

          • Businesses should learn that once an employee resigns it’s too late to try and convince her/him that things will change for the better and that she/he should stay.

    • bob says:

Congrats on the new job Barb!

    • HamWithCam says:

      Congratulations!
      I’m excited for you!

It was chillier than I expected this morning, but it IS still March. Just be thankful we aren’t in the Mid-Atlantic area. That would suck.

My Eagle scout award looks good. I took a power planer and belt sander to it last night. There is still a slight bit of “wave” in it, but with a piece so large that was cut with a chain saw, it really isn’t too bad.

“Looking forward” to my trip to Emory tomorrow. There has to be a Spinal Tap joke in here somewhere… let’s turn it up to 11??

    -FP

    • I remember March snowstorms when I was wee lad in New York. Given the ITP Estate’s heat works much better than its AC I should be happy the cooler weather is sticking around for a little while longer.

Ew, not sure I want to know why you are going to Emory. Good luck with whatever the reason is.

      • Steve says:

They are doing research on Alzheimer’s and I’m in the study group. I had filled out a research study on “healthy aging” and “qualified” for the study on brain health. It’s a lot of basic measurement- height, weight, BP, blood draw, etc. Then cognition, gait analysis, retinal scan and spinal tap (!). The retinal scan is interesting, as they have a belief they can use it to catch Alzheimer’s early. Currently, there isn’t a true diagnostic for it except post-mortem.

And they want to do the testing every 2 years!! Oh boy.

        • Stacy says:

Oh wow! That sounds fascinating, Steve. I’m especially curious about the retinal scan and how they think that can give any indication of Alzheimer’s.

Heh, thanks for mentioning the spinal tap. Now I understand the previously mentioned “turn it up to 11” better. 😉

        • Barb says:

I’ve heard spinal taps can be painful – but good for you that you are doing this. Alzheimer’s is such a terrible disease – I’m starting to wonder about my mom – or is it just regular old age dementia.

          • Steve says:

My mom suffered from senior dementia. I’m not sure I could tell you the difference. Debbie and I started dating in 2003 (?) and got married in 2006. When mom died in 2008, Debbie admitted she didn’t think mom ever understood who she was. Very sad to watch. I hope I can help in some way by participating in this study.

        • You lost me at spinal tap – the medical procedure, not the movie.

        • HamWithCam says:

My Dad (74) and Mom (92) suffered from dementia. We think my father’s was Alzheimer’s but as Steve said there isn’t a true diagnostic for it except post-mortem.

After the often merciful end to the ordeal that can be dementia, many families opt out of any definitive post-mortem diagnosis.

I believe I saw the call for that same Emory study, but to be honest I was scared at even the thought of participating.

    • Barb says:

      what’s happening at Emory?

      • Debbie Brady says:

Dementia is the culprit in my family and for Steve’s mom. So far we’ve been very fortunate not to deal with Alzheimer’s.

I tell people I had the very best mother in law. She was always happy to meet me with nothing but nice things to say. She was a dear lady, wish I could have known her before the dementia took hold. I expect she was a card.

    • HamWithCam says:

Emory was reeling due to the recent Dekalb County water woes.
Best make sure you’re still good to go.

      • Steve says:

I thought about that- the location is over in Executive Park, but I suspect all the folks they had yesterday were screwed. So far I haven’t heard any report of a reschedule.

  4. Barb says:

Funny story – and if Claire is reading this – sorry -but its funny.
Allan got Claire & Darrell a roof rack thru the bike shop to save them money, and it needed the wind screen (or whatever it is called so it doesn’t make noise) after the fact. Claire mailed a check to Richard Allan Blaine. Guess what – I don’t’ think we can cash that……… FB names just don’t work at a bank.

  5. Steve says:

And TicketBastard just alerted me about Tony Bennett tickets.

  6. It may be time for me to start considering a job change as well because I am not convinced that “XYZ Corp’s” future vision includes my skill set.
