Hmmm, someone didn’t finish Black Sheep yesterday thanks to a seemingly impossible to solve check, which had even been kicked by the fast hashers. After perhaps an hour of searching for the next mark, with rain occurring during that time, someone and his three companions had to call to find the end. These four people then walked at least a half-mile to get there. At circle most of the people said how great trail was, how they loved the swamp and railroad tracks, and avoided the tunnel under I-675 – none of which was seen by this someone. And with no beers to blame someone may have lashed out at the two hares while they sat on the ice. You pays your money, you takes your chances…

  1. Someone = me
    But you knew that.

It was not my finest moment.
But I’m sure that you knew that too.

Sal just said you guys couldn’t solve the check, and you were pissed. She said she was in the right place at the right time so she found her way.
I think I’m glad we skipped the hash, as I’m sure I would have been with you.
Who all was lost with you?

      • It was me, “Glory Mole”, “Just Joe” (who has run three BS hashes and has yet to finish any completely), and an out-of-towner named “T*ts on Demand”.

I honestly don’t know why I got so angry, but I was livid. Maybe I felt that as the senior hasher of the group that I let my companions down.

Maybe you need to go back to bitching here in the blog again. We’re used to it, and I’ll quit lambasting you. As you experienced, that anger has to get channeled somewhere, otherwise it leaks out uncontrollably. Been there, done that, *way* too many times in my life.

  2. On a brighter note: On Saturday I did a little in town leisure cycling, which went up to Piedmont Park (had I navigated better it would have gone past Stacy’s place) around and then down through Candler Park. On a whim a stop at the Lake Claire Land Trust happened, a place I haven’t been in way too long; man is it peaceful and enjoyable there. Lou the emu says g’day to everyone reading this space.

We dropped Murphy off at Bear Creek Saturday morning before Debbie left for Wisconsin. I was heading to a Preakness party there, then got a text from Doug and Nicole. They were at Bones for dinner before going to Chastain, only the tickets were at home! Doug offered me $100 for my trouble, so that was easy money. I did manage to ride 30 Saturday, and got caught in 2 rainstorms, or maybe it was the same storm twice.

Sitting at the gate waiting to depart for Orlando. Geeks-R-Us, Cisco Live!

It was a decent enough weekend in my world, but I think I’m just ready to get the heck out of dodge for a while. I need a reset button that comes only from a nice long road trip alone.

Atlanta Moon Ride was a blast Friday night. The streeets were totally shut down, a la the Peachtree Road Race (which I ran 22 times before getting enough.). The Moon Ride was a cool way to experience Va-Hi, L5P, and Midtown. I’ll definitely ride it again.

I went to the pre-party for a little bit; a friend had had an extra VIP ticket so we got the food and the swag but didn’t actually bike it. A friend of mine said she tried to ride but it was just too many people. At one point she was sort of jostled off her bike and said it was hard to get back on it with so many folks that just kept coming up behind. That was disappointing to hear (didn’t they stagger the start?)… so it’s nice to hear a positive experience.

      • Barbara says:

Wow, I heard it was too many people, plenty of them drunk, so it was kind of a shit show. Glad to hear it wasn’t that way for everyone, it’s a great charity event.

      • ITP Lurker says:

I started near the front, and they did stagger it slightly. It’s probably like the Peachtree, you can have a vastly different experience if you’re in the back of the pack. There were points where things slowed down to a crawl on a couple of narrow neighborhood streets in Va-Hi, but for the most part there was plenty of space, and from what I saw, only a few folks acting particularly idiotic. I learned from the Peachtree that there’s definitely an art to having fun in big groups like that.

Back from BRAG, fantastic but much too quick of a week. 400 miles and 30,000 feet of climbing, I may feel this in my legs for a few more days.
Great times though, got to hang with people I do not see often enough, scenery was beautiful through the mountains and the weather was perfect. It only rained one afternoon for about 30 minutes.

    • Barbara says:

Such an awesome week for BRAG, we really wished we could have ridden.
But, I would have died, due to the lack of training.

  7. Barbara says:

I just woke up, I’m unemployed for 2 weeks!
I’ve got today thru Wed. open for lunch in town, if anyone is free.
We are heading out on a little road trip Thursday-Tuesday, do some mtn. biking, visit some friends, just relax a little. (I need to get on cementing our visits with those friends).

  8. Coworker called me “Jeff” again today. May have waited too long to correct home. Maybe Jeff should ask why he hasn’t been getting paid lately. 😉

    • ITP Lurker says:

It’d be much better to go over to him today and ruefully laugh about it, and manage the situation now. Otherwise it’s going to resolve down the road in some some uncontrollable manner that you will probably regret more. Be kind to future Paulie, he’ll appreciate it.

  9. Barbara says:

Hey Jeff! I keep forgetting to call you that.
Went to Hankook today, since Allan was sort of in the neighborhood.
Where to go tomorrow? Feel free to give me suggestions, just need to be in the ATL city limits.

      • Interesting because I drive by this daily and have yet to stop in.

I suggest Delia’s Chicken Sausage Stand on the west side even though I prefer the original on Moreland.

        • ITP Lurker says:

Given your past dining choices, I think you’ll really like Petit Chou. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve been there since it opened, and I’ve been very pleased with every thing that’s been served to me. I’ve taken several different folks there, and they’ve all been pleased as well.
