It couldn’t happen again, two days in a row?

It can.
It did.

At the incorrectly-kicked check immediately after the beer stop the pack ran away, and “Glory Mole” and I got separated from everyone else. After looking for, but never finding, a mark as night fell we gave up. We ran back to the start and waited (with no way to contact the pack) for someone to return.

I have apparently lost my hashing skills.
At least I handled this mishap a lot better than Sunday’s.

  1. Fueling up at Waffle House before my dental appointment. Apparently I mis-ordered. I should have ordered an egg and cheese sandwich with hash browns, but instead I ordered something else and asked for no bacon, but that something else was essentially a hamburger. Whoops! So, today is now a meat day.

    • Barbara says:

You ordered a hamburger & meant to order egg & cheese? But they sound so much the same???

I kept pretty busy yesterday for my unplanned day, got a mammogram, had lunch with Allan at Hankook, then a road bike ride.
Today I will go get my car tags paid (just because I have time) & May go get a new iPhone. I think I’ve finally decided on the 8s. I just don’t want to spend the money. I know I could go to the Apple store & get a new battery, but I think it’s close enough to time for a new phone.

      • I think I wanted to order some sort of bacon melt, minus the bacon but may have asked for a patty melt? Or, the waitress heard “patty melt” and that what was made for me. Oh well, I have not had much meat lately so it was okay with me.

      • Stacy says:

Oh if he had wanted a hamburger, he BETTER have gone to ihob. 😉

        • Barbara says:

Ihob, what a crazy marketing campaign. But, everyone is talking about it.

          • Stacy says:

Right? So they’re playing it perfectly. And, not gonna lie… kinda wanna go just to go. There’s an ihop in the ‘hood that I consistently walk/drive right on by, never remembering it’s there. Plus I hear the burgers come with bottomless fries. Because lord knows THAT’s what I need. 😉

          • ITP Lurker says:

I trust you’ve seen how people are comparing the b in IHOb to the b in o.b. tampons? 🙂 No bottomless fries for me, thank you, I can barely stand more than a handful. Also I’ve seen people griping that you apparently cannot get a pancake hamburger (pancakes for buns).

Could have been a social anxiety moment. I used to sometimes be unable to pronounce my own damn name clearly in some social situations. It’s hard to fathom unless you’ve experienced it firsthand.

  2. Gettin numb.

Given how poorly I have hashed the past two days I feel as if I am already a numbskull. 😉

  3. Steve says:

I’m not sure how you can screw up. A WH order.

Welcome to day 2 of Cisco LIVE! A good day yesterday with a couple of interesting talks, one at the “network operations center” where the 2 leaders of the team that built the network for this event talked about how it was done. To me, very interesting. Imagine walking into a building, actually several, and building a network to support 20,000 geeks.

Walked to dinner last night and depending on how much walking I do today, may go for a run tonight. Or try, in between the bursty rain storms.

I hate checks that are too hard. One of the reasons I actually dislike live trails.
Bummer it happened to you again.
Neither of you had a phone with you?

    • It’s even worse when the check is kicked in the wrong direction.

Nope. It was a Monday night trail that was supposed to be short. I even knew the end (Brake Pad in East Point) but didn’t know how to get there from where we got dropped.

      • Barbara says:

I Guess I never hash without my phone anymore. Just in cases like this. I like to know here the end is, but I always “want” to do trail, even with that knowledge.
Hares trying to be too tricky just doesn’t always work when you don’t have a pack.

  5. Stacy says:

This is why I like to lay trail (or host a beer stop/ending) rather than do trail. Doing trail would probably be more fun in a lot of cases, plus the exercise gets a great thumbs up. But the getting lost/badly marked trails/trails that are just WAY TOO FRIGGIN LONG? Eh. Makes it all so much less fun.

    • ITP Lurker says:

Sounds more like a HARSH than a HASH to me. 😉

      • Stacy says:

Well, dang. That actually sounds like it could make for a good hash camp out name or something. I’m surprised no one’s come up with that before, especially with our harsh summers. Be great on a t-shirt too!

  6. Dental visit done. Fake tooth (temporary crown) in, mouth numb, HSA depleted of much money.

  7. Breakfast for lunch! Eating (sloppily) yogurt and cereal for lunch because my mouth is still not functioning at 100%.

  8. Barbara says:

    Bought a new iPhone 8plus. I’m poor.

    • My fellow shareholders and I thank you.

The numbing and swelling around my temporary crown have subsided, and I am in a bit of discomfort. I have just popped three Advil. If things don’t get better I will have to skip German because I can barely concentrate, never mind speak in a different language.

      • Barbara says:

At least you will think when you get the real crown…… that wasn’t bad!
I remember both of those days too well.
