Wait, it wasn’t my 50th birthday yesterday so why am I so hungover? Fun night celebrating Betsy’s big day…

Tuesday Tale of the Tape: 207.4 pounds (-1.0 from last week’s weigh-in); makes no sense, must be turning muscle into fat.

A very happy birthday to (NITPR) Betsy! I’m sure she is ready to start a new year.

I’m using a free 30 day trial of Amazon Prime and it is a dangerous thing. So easy to find things and order with a push of a button!!

Rode at lunch yesterday. I need to get back in that habit, as my legs still feel it this morning. I love streaming a workout from Global Cycling Network.

    • There are some good things to watch via Amazon too. Stream as much video that is only available via Amazon as you can.

Speaking of Amazon, I am delaying my morning commute so that I can stop by the Amazon store on 5th to pick up my orders before work.

I stopped watching GCN earlier this year. I need to get healthy again so I can justify watching “The Great British Bake Off” as I pedal.

Yes, Amazon prime is dangerous! Whatever you do, do not download the phone app! Makes it WAY too easy to order stuff 🙂

I am a GMBN addict, watch way too many of their videos. I did learn how to wheelie watching them though 🙂

      • Steve says:

I haven’t seen the road version of the wheelie clinic… yet.

Oh, and Bob, speaking of getting lost down the YouTube rabbit hole, search “Twist of the Wrist”. Watch it, then watch it again.. really good info.

    • Barb says:

Steve -watch Bosch while you have Prime – that show is a good cop show.

I am the opposite of most of America – I am just not addicted to Amazon.
I hate shopping, so I just don’t look things up all day to buy.

      • bob says:

Twist of the wrist looks really good, some great information in there. Riding dirt bikes first I think really helped me be confident on the road. Still scary sometimes but fun all the time.

I really like the 2019 Outback – all the bells & whistles are so nice to have.
I see us buying a new car next spring, once the kitchen is done.
We MUST get the kitchen done 1st.

House is as ready for the parents as it is going to be – let’s hope they get thru the tiny Cedar Rapids airport and on the plane ok today.
I’m sure I’m more worried than I need to be, but they have gotten so old & confused over the last year.

    • Steve says:

I wonder if you could alert the airline to “keep an eye on them”?

And on a completely unrelated item, did you hear about the study of square wombat poop and how they make it? A research study from Georgia Tech!! I’m so proud.

    • Curious how many bells and whistles have been added since you bought the Crosstrek.

      • Steve says:

My problem with the Subaru’s is my current problem with Mazda’s… there isn’t a dealer on my end of the world. A consideration when buying new- though I don’t really have an interest in new new.

      • Barb says:

OMG – its crazy, but I didn’t buy the highest end model either.

the new HUGE display – apple play or whatever they call it – I just plug my phone into the USB port – and its like my phone is on the display. Then – the safety stuff, the drift into another lane, it beeps, too close to another car, it beeps, the car in front of you moves forward, it beeps. It even tells me the speed limit of the road I’m on.

Subarus are my dream car. I used to love the Outback but I think the current models are too “nice”. And too big… I can barely drive my Accord LOL; the Cavalier is a bit easier 😁.

  3. Crap, stocks tumbling again including >9% for my Target stock. Wish I had sold that a few weeks back…

  4. Just got an email from someone to whom I donate a few bucks a month because I like his podcast and YouTube channel. In the email he told us that the money went to help pour a new cement floor for his garage. I’m not sure that I am happy to have helped finance this project, I assumed the money would go towards podcasting or YouTube things.

  5. Bonnie says:

Good for you 🙌🏻. I’m still 136.5 (same as last week; goal 125). Again, no surprise… I’m glad I didn’t gain any. Last night I planned to limit myself to 2 drinks, but I had 3. I need to get serious or this is never going to work… 🙄

    • ITP Lurker says:

Bonnie, what helps me when I want to cut back on drinks is to limit myself to just one. That way I know it’s my one beer for the night, and I make sure to mindfully enjoy it. I’m also not depriving myself. I then make myself a big glass of water to drink after that. I did limit myself to 2 last night, considered a third, but once I started drinking water I forgot about the third drink I didn’t have. For me it seems to be a momentum thing, in that if one drink leads to two, it’s incrementally easier for two to become three, and so on. When I slow my roll, I have better success.

      • Bonnie says:

Social situations are hard for me. I tried to sip slowly too, but apparently not slow enough. I don’t really like drinking water, I really have to force myself. I don’t plan to drink calories again until Thanksgiving dinner. I probably just need to stay home a bit more instead of going out, for caloric and financial reasons…

        • ITP Lurker says:

What’s helped me is finding some water glasses that I like the feel of in my hand. That, and not really having anything else to drink in the house. If you’re drinking tap water, that could be a big part of why you don’t like it. My refrigerator has a filter that makes the water taste so much better. Or you can get a Britta pitcher or the like. Some people swear by LaCroix but I like still water much better.

          • Bonnie says:

I have a Brita pitcher and a filter in my refrigerator. Memphis water tasted a lot better than Atlanta water but it was still hard for me even then. I dislike cold water and prefer tepid water, which is sometimes hard to come by in restaurants and bars (without being too annoying). I guess I could go fill up my glass in the bathroom sink LOL. I sneak-eat granola bars in the bathroom sometimes so why not water too 😁.

  6. Barb says:

their checked bag is on the plane……… I love the Delta App sometimes

  7. Barb says:

Brilliant idea if I do say so myself, went to the Internationsl terminal to get my gate pass. So much calmer over there. Line to get thru security still stunk, but I know it was faster.
I’m fun traffic heading back to Marietta now.

  8. Tried to do the right thing and report a map change to Google due to construction removing a stairwell and thus making a suggested route impossible. However, I couldn’t find a way to do this via the iOS Google Maps app, so I gave up.

  9. Dangen! I was hoping to end my short workweek on a high note but my release build failed. Guess I’m working at home after my one post-German-class beer tonight.
