Struggling today. Feeling like too many things are hitting me at once and hope to start turning it around soon.

An uneventful drive to St Pete yesterday. The hotel is quite lovely and right on the water (The Vinoy).

Alabama played like crap, so deserved to lose. I couldn’t watch much after the 3rd quarter. U. G. L. Y.

Think I’m going to the museum today, but not sure which.

Cheese Spread & Randy (Dicks Trickle) live right in downtown St Pete. (on Central Ave). did you talk to them at all at Cheddarhead?
There’s at least a couple nice breweries right there.

If you need a dive bar on Treasure Island – go to Ka’Tiki. I’ve drank there with my friend Mary more than a few times when we’ve been down that way.

    • If you are in St Pete and like Salvador Dali, that’s the one.

      • steve says:

In my wandering from the hotel, I’ve found a Western art museum and will wander through when they open. What little I know of Dali, I’m not a big fan.

Stopped for breakfast and chatted with a guy riding a carbon fiber recumbent. Pretty cool.

      • Had an inkling that you wouldn’t be a fan. 😉

If Haslam’s Used Books is still open that could be entertaining for you.

The James museum of Western and Wildlife Art is really neat. I love bronzes and they had a bunch. Not yet open for a year, really well done cillection.

Katrina’s grandparent’s house in Colorado springs had tons of western art, I can’t remember if it was Grandma or Grandpa who was the artist. I wonder what they did with all that (or actually, I bet it is still there)

Sorry you are struggling today :(. What are those words that some guy I know always tells me??? “You can do it!”

In other news, it is so nice to open the door to the “Harry Potter Closet” (i.e. the closet under the stairs) and not bump into a Christmas tree.

  3. Barb says:

did you see the new scooter laws that they mandated yesterday?
pretty interesting – I wonder how much money the scooter companies make and if they can afford all of this?

    • No, I will have to look for that today.

    • ITP Lurker says:

Scooters pay for themselves in 90 days. I’d say the companies can afford it. Plus the city wants the money, so I’m sure they did some math on what’s sustainable. Uber has pedal-assist bikes available now that I very much want to check out.

      • barb says:

e-bike!!!! Allan has picked out my next road bike – so I can keep up! But – it isn’t in the budget until all the house stuff gets done. I really just need to ride more, and get faster. But the e-bike would be so cool!

The year is off to such a sad start. Last week I found out my friend’s ex-husband shot his girlfriend and then himself in a murder-suicide in downtown Decatur. A couple days ago I found out another friend succumbed to her brain tumor. I didn’t know her very well, but met her when she came to my Royal Wedding brunch party last May and she was such a sweet person — not to mention brave, coming to the home of someone she didn’t even know! She was only diagnosed the month after.

I know everyone is fighting their own battles and dealing with their own losses and struggles right now and Lord knows each and every one of them are valid and real. But it does help me to keep in mind that my problems can always, always be worse and sometimes that’s all I need to help adjust my attitude any given day.

    • I had heard about the shooting last week from Betsy. Sad indeed.

(I hope) my problems are all rectifiable (is that a word?) with money, though who knows really… Will be adult I guess later by calling my dentist. Fun fact, the German word for the gums in one’s mouth is “Zahnfleisch” which literally translates to “tooth meat”. 😂

    • ITP Lurker says:

Bad things often run in clumps. Good things too. I’m optimistic about this year. One thing that is helping me stay centered is focussing on what I can control, and accepting (or ignoring when possible) what I can’t.

Your post definitely helped me feel grateful that things are under control for me at the moment. Here’s to positive attitude adjustments. 😊

I’ve noticed over the past few years, a lot of death happens right after Christmas.
I really think the pressure of the holidays is too much for many people.
Its been a weird beginning of the year.
I am very thankful for our good health, that is for sure.
All of our “issues” right now are just how much money do we have to spend problems – I need to start getting to Iowa a lot more often (so those plane tickets that are rarely a good deal), its looking like we need a roof sooner than later, and of course the big expense of remodeling the kitchen.

    • ITP Lurker says:

Money, money, money! I’m sick of feeling paralyzed and have started replacing aging appliances. Turns out there’s only two stoves on the market that work in my kitchen unless I rip everything out. That certainly eliminated analysis paralysis. Knobs on the top? Or on the front? I opted for the front.

      • barb says:

knobs on the front for the win!
only 2 choices, that may have made me happy…… I hate so many choices!!! But – we have decided – we just need to figure out the time frame so we can put it on the Amex – more Frequent flyer points for me!

Now THIS is a national crisis:

Let’s all do our part. 🧀🧀🧀😉

    • Barb says:

Stacy!!!!! We need to eat more cheese I guess!!!!
and – I didn’t realize until Cheddarhead if you stick the naked curds in the microwave for 5-10 seconds, they get REALLY SQUEAKY!!!
