Meh. I have twice deleted posts.

One thing I will say is that this new WordPress editor is a nightmare on a small screen.

  1. I guess my health is on a continual decline as I am still bothered by a tooth on the other side of my mouth. ☹️

On a positive note I am very glad to have discovered vegetarian chorizo “sausage” by Morningstar Farms as it flavors my breakfast tater tot bake out enormously.

Things are only as bleak as you want them to be.

    • I’m afraid that I can’t agree with you on that point. Granted, I have more leeway than many, but I still disagree. As always, YMMV…

      • ITP Lurker says:

Reality is reality, whether we agree with it or not. I’m just sharing some hard-fought knowledge here. I spent way too many decades on the wrong side of this particular equation. Been there, done that.

And I’m not saying there’s a magic wand that makes the bad shit go away. Rather our mental outlook can shift so that the bad things don’t suck all of the air out of the room. In which case things are what they are. You’ll still have health issues, etc. because we all get dealt what we get dealt, but again things aren’t so bleak. Life truly is pick your own adventure, you’re in charge of the narrative.

my tooth is feeling better – but still not right – so I think I may get the root canal after our trip to Florida this week.
Went mtn biking Saturday, we haven’t done that is forever.

Trying to get everything ready, Allan worked yesterday as a swap so he can not have to use a vacation day, and now again today (regular shirt day). It probably is easier with just me planning the food, then we won’t think the other did something)

Thanks to Stacy, I watched a very interesting (though deeper that I needed) movie yesterday – Life Itself. Good movie, makes you think, and now the Bob Dylan song from the movie is stuck in my head forever.

    • Have a great vacation.

I wonder how many people wandered around in red dresses on Saturday…

Speaking of Saturday, while my evening turned out to be a bust but it did end on a bizarre note when I found out my Lyft driver Nancy used to be a manager at Heaping Bowl and Brew / Blue Frog Cantina / Elder Tree.

      • barb says:

looked like a decent Red Dress crowd from the pictures I saw on FB – they ended at Tucker Brewing I think.

    • Stacy Fox says:

Oh Barb, no kidding! “From the producers of This Is Us” should have clued me in some, but I most definitely didn’t expect All The That out of that movie. I won’t say anymore for risk of spoiling for anyone else, but it was definitely a good one that I’d recommend. Life Itself – on Amazon Prime.

Weekend was fun! Got to meet up with my zoner friends for lunch and then went to an 80s-themed prom for a friend’s 50th. Reminds me that my 50th is not too far away (knock wood, God willing). Wonder what I should plan for it? Did any of you do anything super special for yours? (if you’re there already, that is)

I was born in Chicago, so I’ve always had an affinity for that city. I’ve only been back a couple of times over the course of my life, but we spent a weekend there, stayed at the Four Seasons, and had the most expensive dinner I’ve ever eaten at Alinea (https://www.alinearestaurant.com/). We had to buy tickets in advance for dinner. It was worth every penny. A different night we had cocktails at the related restaurant The Aviary (https://www.theaviary.com/). That was worth every penny too, especially the drink that came in a treasure chest filled with smoke.

Personally I felt pretty anxious the few months leading up to turning 50, but after that my 50’s have been some of the best years of my life. We’re only as old as we want to be, for the most part.

      • Well, I was supposed to riding RAGBRAI with Barb and Allan, where the theme on my 50th birthday was “It’s all down hill from here”, but a mysterious illness kept me from going. I celebrated my 50th with an impromptu gathering at Der Biergarten instead.

        • barb says:

I was at RAGBRAI for my 50th – spending my birthday with the parents was different – hadn’t done that in FOREVER.

      • Steve says:

For my 50th, the mizzus held a party at JEFDSDR in my honor that was attended by a few readers of this blog, as well as many friends from various parts of my life and it was a great time.

My 60th was spent at a meeting in Colo Springs. Blech.

You all make me feel so young! 😉

  4. Need to knuckle down and do some work since I need to deliver a release this week and I’ll lose time with my dentist trip today. Cheers all.

  5. Steve says:

I was pretty much a blob all weekend. Could have been that Debbie was under the weather, which she was all last week while I was gone. We finally decided to visit the “doc in a box” yesterday for the diagnosis of bronchitis. Now we have some drugs.

Saturday, dropped the scooter off in McDonough for service. Might be a challenge to get it home with Debbie gone a hunting this weekend. The Xpress bus goes really close, and I might do that. Easier to retrieve a car from Newnan.

Will try and schedule the follow up MRI this week. Except for a bit of dizzy, it was pretty boring.

  6. Oh yeah, saw that Mushroom passed away at the end of January. Nice guy, I liked him.

  7. ITP Lurker says:

I don’t usually buy into fads, but I have been Marie Kondo-ing the tar out of my house. It’s remarkable when you make a big pile of stuff how much goes away. I’m pretty consistently donating 1/3, throwing away 1/3, and keeping 1/3 for each area that I get into. Her approach really works. I still have a lot to do, but even if I stopped now my house feels so much lighter. Now I’m to the point where I can leave no stone unturned.

    • barb says:

I know the name & she has something to do with decluttering -but I have no idea besides that what she is all about.

      • ITP Lurker says:

She has a show on Netflix that can get you up to speed. I’ve struggled for years to lighten the load on possessions, and this approach has helped me crack the code.

    • Funny today’s post nearly had a Kondo reference since I was trying to decide if the oldest piece of stereo equipment, the first receiver I ever purchased in the early 1980s, still sparks joy.

Meeting about to end, back to work…

      • ITP Lurker says:

The whole “sparks joy” concept feels hokey at first, but man, as stuff starts leaving the house it becomes readily apparent whether something is truly worth having around or not. This I know: open shelves in closets that were previously packed to the gills very much sparks joy for me.

  8. There is a very real possibility that I will now need a root canal on another tooth — and flush away $2000 more on dental care this year.

And of course the M6’s goddamn TPMS alarm fired again as I drove down I-75.

I am not having a very good day.
