Feeling overwhelmed, having many doubts.

Tuesday Tale of the Tape: 211.2 pounds (+0.8 from last week’s weigh-in); getting exercise, but obviously eating/drinking too much as well.

A quiet evening last night. Debbie had spent the day working from home and resting- that bronchitis is kicking her butt.

I made one of the Simply Fresh (?) meals. A ground turkey and pasta bowl. Not a lot of flavor but still good. And my slug streak continues. Today will also be no exercise as there’s a 20 year luncheon for a coworker then the Games meeting tonight. Maybe a walk this afternoon if the weather clears.

Trying to get motivated to get the camper packed up while Allan takes a nap. At least it stopped raining. Just wondering what I’m forgetting.

It’s about a 6 hour drive, longest road trip yet with the camper.

Personal trainer kicked my butt this morning, miserable in the moment but glorious afterwards. Today is also yoga day, so I’ll be doubling down on exercise.

We started watching True Detective on HBO. Late to the party in typical fashion. I like to let marquee shows age a few years before I deem them worthy of my time. 😉 This one definitely makes the cut.

I’d be interested to see what you think, Lurker. I really liked season 1 but just couldn’t seem to get into season 2. Maybe I need to go back and give it a chance again.

      • ITP Lurker says:

I’m only two episodes in, but I *really* like it. T-Bone Burnett did the music, and I generally like any show or movie that he’s planning the music for. I’ve heard lots about season 2, but I think it’d have to go really awry for me to not watch it.

The series reminds me of the Fargo TV series, where each season there’s a completely different cast and premise. I’ll report back as I get further into the series.

    • Barb says:

I have been thinking about watching True Detective – I’m also a person that doesn’t watch the ‘popular’ shows. Never watched Walking Dead or Breaking Bad, etc.

      • ITP Lurker says:

OMG. Breaking Bad is amazing. I’ve watched it twice all the way through, and getting close to embarking on a third run through.

        • ITP Lurker says:

Oh, I did watch the first season of Walking Dead, but completely lost interest once they moved out of Atlanta. My house came within a second of being on the show. There’s a panning shot in the first episode where it cuts just before my house comes into the picture.

I did get paid $250 by The Walking Dead not to mow my lawn for a few weeks.

          • Barb says:

Getting paid to not cut the grass…..I love it!

I just have a hard time committing to a TV show with lots of seasons, I’m bad enough about watching too much TV. I love shows with 1 season and the story is over (great example -Fargo)

      • Stacy Fox says:

I hung on to The Walking Dead until this year. I was still recording it every week when I realized, all the way into “season break”, that I hadn’t watched a darn one. (“DVR 70% full” message will make you check why!) So I deleted them all. That show was like a bad boyfriend: I had invested so much time in it that it was hard to let it go, but in all honesty the thrill had been gone for years, so after I did there were no regrets. 🙂

I have never seen Breaking Bad either!

  4. I’m worn out; in part because of last night’s hash, and in part due to my “failing health”. I’d love to go back to bed, pull the covers over my head, and skip the rest of my commitments for today.

  5. Barb says:

Almost time to hook up the truck to the camper….. wish us only a small argument about my directing skills!

      • Barb says:

Well damn, got it hooked up on the 1st backup! No argument at all!
And Bob, Allan said…. he will take it under advisement.
But actually, he’s pretty careful when towing.

    • bob says:

Barb, remind me to offer you the trailer backup helper I have. New truck has a camera so hooking up is so much easier!
Safe travels and I’ll see you on Friday.

      • Barb says:

Someday we will get a new truck, and it WILL have a camera!

        • Steve says:

M&D towed a 29′ Airstream which was normally stored in the back yard at the Ben Hilton. To get it into the back yard, you had to thread a needle through the carport with maybe 10″ to spare on each side. I came home from school one day and they had returned from a trip and they weren’t speaking and the trailer was as crooked on the driveway as it could be. I calmed dad down and got him backed in in about 5 minutes. I’m sure mom was frazzled from the drive into town.

  6. Bonnie says:

I’ve been sick, ugh. Supposed to be on “staycation”—guess it’s a good thing it’s not a real vacation. Hopefully I will feel well enough to do some fun things I have planned over the next several days. I loved S1 of True Detective and S2 was good but IMO not as good as S1. I heard S3 was coming out but I haven’t checked HBO in a while (I use my friend’s login). I love (loved?) the Fargo series too. Breaking Bad is one of my favorite series, if not my favorite. I binge watched the shit out of it when I lived in Memphis. Shameless is another favorite that comes to mind. Still hanging in there with The Walking Dead, but behind a season these days since we don’t have cable or DVR. Didn’t like last season as much. Been watching TV since I’ve been sick, almost done with Shetland.

    • ITP Lurker says:

      Hope you feel better soon!

I’m not surprised Season 2 of True Detective isn’t as good, it’s going to be tough to top Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey together in Season 1.

I just couldn’t watch Shameless past the first episode. Pushed *way* too many buttons for me. Breaking Bad, Fargo, and Sopranos, probably in that order, are my top 3 TV shows of all time. Back in the day I was arranging DVDs from England where they were released months ahead of the US so I could watch the Sopranos faster since I didn’t have cable then (or now).

      • Bonnie says:

I’ve never seen the Sopranos. I think I still may want to someday, but like Barb said, all those seasons…. whew that’s a lot to take.

    • It should come as no surprise that I have never seen “Walking Dead”, “The Sopranos”, “Game of Thrones”, “Breaking Bad”, nor any version of “CSI” or “Law & Order”; the list of popular shows that I have never seen is very long.

I have seen all of “Seinfeld”, “The Office” (both versions), “Parks and Recreation “, and “Mad Men”. Lesser known shows I have consumed recently are “Detectorists” and “Corner Gas”.

Contemplating rewatching “Mad Men” since it’s been a few years since I watched it.

      • bob says:

I’m with you on most of those, I started Walking Dead but just never got enough in to it to keep watching. Sopranos, GOT, CSI, Law & Order have never been viewed. Although Laura watches the CSI crap all the time so if I disappear some day then she did it, I think she is planning my demise and taking notes on how to get away with it 🙂 I have to disagree on Breaking Bad though, I was totally hooked on that and may have to watch again, I even started watching the spin off Better call Saul.

        • Barb says:

I watch CSI, NCIS, Criminal Minds, etc. I know what not to do…. but you all know it will justifiable homicide anyway.
I “want” to watch Breaking Bad,I just can’t start it.
Cordele for gas….. I get to pee!!!

        • Bonnie says:

          Love Better Call Saul too!

          • ITP Lurker says:

Yes, how could I have forgotten Better Call Saul??? I think I just lump it in with the whole Breaking Bad experience. I did like Game of Thrones. Not enough to rewatch it though.

I loved Detectorists. I hope they do more seasons eventually. Schitt’s Creek on Netflix is a different premise than Detectorists, but equally smart and quirky.

      • Bonnie says:

Mad Men is another one that everyone tells me to watch, but I can’t seem to pull the trigger. Probably would dredge up my PTSD from my marketing/advertising life LOL. Maybe I’ll watch a couple episodes with you Paulie… I mean, as long as there’s beer 😉.

  7. Trying to decide which I want/need more tonight, German practice in class or exercise.

    • Bonnie says:

Ummmm shouldn’t you go to class? I think you’ll regret it if you don’t. And you already skipped one recently that I can think of. (And you’ve paid $ for it…) But I get it, you can’t continue to attend German classes if you’re dead…

      • I have lust for neither at the moment, but I kinda feel that my health should always come first. That being said, I am tired and broken (and would love for my chest pain to finally go away), and feel a debt to my fellow classmates, so I will most likely go to German class.

  8. Barb says:

And- forgot to say we loved Corner Gas!

    Go to class! Walk there?

    • It’s literally across the street, one reason I want to remain employed at “XYZ Corp”; it’d take me longer to drive. Maybe I should see if my body can take me up eleven flights of steps without collapsing.

  9. For inquiring minds, even though I am ill-prepared for class, and am seriously concerned about my health, German class is going to win tonight.
