From “Pi Day” to the “Ides of March”…

Skipping out of work early today to join the Raleigh Royalty at a swim meet being held at Georgia Tech this weekend. Hoping the rain clears out so that I can get some exercise by walking to the arena, if not I may catch a Lyft ride since I’ve yet to commit to rising a scooter.

Hope you all have a grand St Patrick’s Day weekend.

The late work went well last night. We were all but done, when the national engineer on the call noticed a phone that didn’t come back online. 20 minutes later, we gave up, deciding we had discovered a stockpile of dead phones we were trying to bring back to life!

I think I will be lawn mower shopping tomorrow rather than walking in the SPD parade. There might be dress shopping for the event tomorrow night as Debbie says she has nothing to wear.

Perhaps some quality time spent on a bicycle this weekend. I hear the weather will be clear, but cooler.

    Swim fast, semi-nephews!

In Beltline news there are now steps going down to Hill Street from the Southside trail. There’s also a trail that’s been worn into the side of the hill down to the Beacon, but I was surprised to see formal steps. The city must be making good on making this a provisional hiking trail.

    • Stacy Fox says:

It’s my understanding that any permanent steps accessing the Beltline is responsibility of the business there (of course, they have to work with them and get their plans approved first). I rather like that, since it means the funds aren’t coming from the Beltline project or the city.

      • ITP Lurker says:

Interesting, particularly since these steps aren’t on the Beacon side of the trail, but maybe that was the path of least resistance.

I’m going to have to get over there and take a peak! (like I need an excuse to go to the brewery again…) 😉

          • ITP Lurker says:

There’s lots to do now in addition to the brewery, including a bodega-like store.

I’m curious to see if any other stairs have been added down the line. One of my companions very nearly took a tumble down the hill to Metropolitan Avenue on my first jaunt, but that’s because I didn’t realize he’d been nipping from a flask along the way.

Howdy folks and happy Friday! My Timehop gods reminded me this morning that it was last year on this date that Paulie, Steve and I met at The Nook for lunch (and I think Lurker *almost* joined us?) It’s so weird to think that was a year ago already! Let’s do again please. 🙂

    • Sounds good to me.

I went to Theatrical Outfit last night and was stunned to realize that it has been a year since I did the behind-the-scenes tour during Phoenix Flies last year.

Yes, I remember that day. A dentist appointment wrapped up at Colony Square just in time (fun fact, I’ve had the same dentist for 30 years. How’s that for a run with a medical professional?). I didn’t quite have my gumption up yet at that point. But I did make the OK Cafe lunch a couple of months later. I’m gonna have lunch at Rosa’s Pizza next month, hopefully some ITP readers can join. April 25 is the date I have my eye on, but I may be able to move it up earlier in the month.

1st things 1st – Stacy, I wanted the huge cheese knife, but it would never fit in any drawer! (see yesterday’s late afternoon comment if you don’t know what I’m talking about)

We went to a new to us, very small ramen & sushi place, in the shopping center across from Best Buy, just north of the Battery on Cobb Pkwy with Dean (aka Jack@ss) last night. Korean fried chicken was tasty, Ramen was too spicy for me (but not for Allan) and the sushi wasn’t cheap, but was really good. Yakitori Jinbei. I guess Guy Fieri did an episode of Diners, DriveIns & Dives there at some point too. (but it isn’t any of those 3, so that show confuses me)

  5. barb says:

how long are the Beebe’s in town?
    what times the meet?
    maybe dinner after?
(even though I finally looked at my Amex – we really shouldn’t eat out the rest of the month…….)

and Paulie – are you doing Green Dress &/or Black Sheep?

    • The meet is today, tomorrow, and perhaps Sunday. I will be there to see Nolan swim at 2:30 and don’t know what the plans are other than watching swimming.

      Definite no to Green Dress.
Black Sheep depends on if they are still in town on Sunday.
