A weekend of running into people I know.

On Saturday while riding the Beltline with Bonnie we ran into Franklin (BRAG), and Frank (aka “Royal Fuck”).

Yesterday I ran into an old coworker while I was entering the airport, and later in the day I saw Greg from Trees Atlanta while he was out walking dogs.

I almost felt popular for having so many random encounters.

    So is Tamara still here?

A good weekend of work in Miami. Everything went well- the before and after pics (to a geek like me) are pretty cool.

My plan of booking a taxi to carry me to MIA at oh dark 30 was a bust. No sign at all and after 15 minutes I downloaded the Uber app to the new phone and signed in. 15 minutes later, Luis and I were on the way. I’ve never tried Lyft as I’ve always been pleased with Uber.

The mizzus and I celebrated 13 years of wedded bliss yesterday with a lovel brunch in Senoia and generally hanging out together. A lovely day!

    • Yeah, she leave town tomorrow.

Yesterday I took her from the airport to Monday Night Garage for a beer, we then went next door to a new Hop City / Boxcar collaboration for another beer and some food, from there we did a quick Target run, on to Euclid Avenue Yacht Club for a beer, met friends at Sweet Auburn BBQ in Poncey-Highland, and finally finished the day at Moe’s and Joe’s.

      Long day of fun.

Happy Belated Anniversary. Barb, I know you and Allan are this time of year too, so the same to you.

    weird weekend –
Pollen had me exhausted Saturday – I just couldn’t muster the energy to go to the Orange Dress hash – and I didn’t feel like drinking, and I know I could hash without drinking, but since I was so tired, I chose to just skip it.
Saturday was our 17th anniversary – Allan worked.

Sunday morning while Allan was sleeping I made myself go out for a walk – I needed a destination, so I went to the Suntrust to get cash – almost 5 miles round trip. Allergy drugs only work so well, but at least I got out.
Spent the afternoon starting the kitchen demo, which started with figuring out where to put some things in the garage, which meant we started cleaning out some of the bins – the rollerblades (& other things) are going to Goodwill.

Got the walls near the windows by the table torn out – windows come out today, and Allan will start rebuilding the walls.

Happy 13 to Steve & Debbie, and my Dad turned 89 yesterday as well.
I guess I better put April next year on the calendar for a plane ticket.

    • Steve says:

2 plane tickets. Allan needs to be there, too.

      • Barb says:

of course I’ll make Allan go to Iowa for this – maybe I’ll use my Delta companion ticket for this…..

The pollen has been abysmal this year. When I was younger my nose used to be like a broken water main for a month and a half, so I’m not really complaining. In recent years I’d have one or two bad pollen days per season. However, the damn pollen has definitely had me on the ropes this year. However, I got my car washed yesterday and it didn’t immediately turn yellow again, so I think the worst is beyond us.

Lurker, HWC and whoever else cares, as Paulie eluded to, we rode our mountain bikes on the Southside Trail Saturday from Glenwood Park to the Westside Trail. Had a beer at Lean Draft House before we headed back east. The terrain gave me a decent workout (exclusive of beer 🙂). Not sure how many miles we rode.

I also biked (on roads: Grant Park, Chosewood Park, East Atlanta, etc.) with another friend yesterday. Although it was a bit too leisurely for great exercise, we did get in more conversation than usual. Yay me! I lied on the Internets and said we did 20, but I probably did more like 15. Oops.

Folks on the East Atlanta Facebook page were intrigued by the Orange Dress crowd. There was lots of chatter trying to figure out “what they were.” (Aside: Paulie, Maureen wants to see you in a dress 🙂.)

    • ITP Lurker says:

I know it’s 4 miles from Boulevard to the concrete of the Westside trail. I’d guess a half-mile from Glenwood Park to Boulevard, and probably 2 miles from the dirt Beltline to Lean. You got a great ride in! I think it’s feasible for me to ride that on my non-mountain bike, I have decent size tires. I’ll figure it out soon.

I rode the Streets Alive course from south to north. It was insanely packed with pedestrians, so it didn’t make for great riding. I had a beer with my personal trainer on the course (that’s the way to do it) and came home on the Beltline which was decent. Streets Alive definitely siphoned enough people off of it.

    • Barb says:

Bonnie – didn’t you get your new bike last week? or did you have to order it?

I need to come into town & ride around with your guys.

      • Bonnie says:

Barb—I chose to order it because I didn’t want the floor model. I pick it up Thursday. I hope to take a nice ride on Saturday to start getting used to it before STU, perhaps the Silver Comet Trail? TBD.

I think Allan is off shift all weekend – but we will need to be working on the kitchen. BUT – I might convince him to do a ride – we NEED to. it may end up being up here in Cobb, but who knows. We can discuss on Friday.

Frame of reference for Paulie on brick ranches in East Atlanta:

    https://atlanta.curbed.com/2019/3/26/18282389/east-atlanta-house-home-for-sale-midcentury-renovation

Separately, the new Whole Foods on 14th opened last week.

    • Steve says:

It looks very nice, but I think they’re smoking crack. Interested to see what it actually sells for.

    • ITP Lurker says:

The main thing I see is the walk-away price for an as-is brick ranch in EAV appears to be $180,000. And if one wanted a part-time job to revamp said brick ranch, that value could potentially multiplied by 2.5. But yes, in-town real estate prices are nutty.
