Dealing with my bizarre health issues today, at least I’m hoping it’s just my recurring health issues and not something new.

At some time this week I will have to deal with the State; they still can’t come to grips that I dissolved Sharpened Stone years ago and keep nagging me to file tax paperwork.

212.4 seems to be a magic number…

Tuesday Tale of the Tape: 212.4 pounds (0.0 from last week’s weigh-in, +0.6 from last year’s weigh-in)

I learned last week that I’ve been spelling the Beltline incorrectly all along. Apparently it’s BeltLine, which means I’m going to continue misspelling it intentionally. In other potential Beltline news, CSX is apparently shutting down the Hulsey Yard on Dekalb Avenue, which could free up 70 acres of land, and maybe restore some elements of the street grid. Most likely it means that now there’s plenty of room for an ITP Wal-Mart.

    • Wow, I wonder what shutting that yard down will mean for all of the non-MARTA tracks that run along Dekalb/Decatur, or will the trains no longer stop.

      • Steve says:

That’s still the only eastbound line out of town- past Emory towards Athens or past Stone Mountain towards Conyers. I thought I remembered they were planning that- the land has gotten too valuable?

      • ITP Lurker says:

There’s two sets of live track adjacent to Dekalb Avenue that will remain active. Word is CSX may sell it to a short line railroad, so those tracks will remain regardless. But the yard itself does appear to have gotten too valuable. Much like the Georgia Power yard adjacent to Old 4th Ward Park that they’ve just evacuated.

I also recently learned that there used to be a second tunnel under the yard, at Powell Street. It got filled in sometime between the 1930s and 1950s. It would be amazing to have *any* additional access apart from Krog and Boulevard to get from one side to the other.

A short line… or MARTA? Access to Emory is something they have always wanted and that one line goes right by. Brain train to Athens!!

          • ITP Lurker says:

Freight still needs to go as the crow flies through Atlanta, it just won’t stop at Hulsey Yard any more, it’ll go onto Fairburn instead.

      • Barb says:

CSX has stopped all intermodal shipments into Hulsey as of 5/1 – I think the location of the yard is very difficult for the trucks. (large trucks getting in & out of there isn’t fun for anyone)

Did you know 53′ trucks aren’t supposed to be inside the perimeter unless they have to be?

AND – the CSX Fairburn yard is much larger and they have installed all the new technology. I haven’t heard the yard was completely closing down yet – but I don’t read all the updates they send out.

Ugh, health issues! I’m a fairly healthy person (knock on wood) but omg yesterday I wanted to die. I called out from work because I was just exhausted from coughing the night before… thought I’d get rest, but it only got worse. Like, I legit don’t remember the last time I felt that poorly. You know you’re really bad when even your pets notice it and try to be comforting. Still hacking up the grossest of gross things but at least I can breathe again. 🙂

AH4 2000th: I’m glad that I went, but I was definitely one of the first out too. When I saw it was 7pm already, I was like: okay — to go container for food; call the Lyft. Shared it with Mini-Brew who needed to be home before 8pm. That’s a looooong day. I think it might have been better if we could have eaten when we got in instead of waiting for circle to be over. People were just way too tired and hungry by then. And by people, I mean me. I got home about 8:15 and was fast asleep before 10pm.

Ugh, the crud is the worst. Hope you clear it soon.

      • Stacy Fox says:

Thanks Lurker! Me too. 🙂 Have a wedding this weekend and a vacation next weekend so I really don’t want to be sick! (not that we ever want to be sick)

      • Barb says:

        feel better Stacy!
Yes – food was way way too delayed on Saturday – I think we got home about 8:30. I was in line at the right time, so I got all of the choices, but the poor place really couldn’t keep up. I wonder if they had some employees call out?
Day 4 of pork butt for dinner was last night – and I think we maybe are grilling some thick cut pork chops for dinner tonight – so that will be day 5 (I may delay that until tomorrow, and find something else for tonight). I wasn’t really trying to be on a pork diet this past week.

        • I asked the young woman working the buffet about vegetarian options and she gave me a 🤷‍♀️ (shrug), so I ate mac and cheese, potato salad, coleslaw, and white bread for dinner; they were out of beans and most vegetables when I was in line.

  3. If this current ailment lasts until next week I am going to have to return to a doctor for an exam. ☹️ I want to believe I am being overly-concerned, but the discomfort keeps coming back.

  4. Steve says:

Stacy, did something start blooming that got to you? Too much exercise?

We would have been in for the night, but Debbie managed to get CVS to refill her migraine med and we ran a couple errands to pick that up. Our Tractor Supply has rearranged the furniture and it’s hard to find things. I know you city types don’t understand Tractor Supply 😉

Trying to keep a big conference running smoothly today. Let’s hope.

some weed trees in my neighbors yard is blooming, we all decided it was Chinese privet on Sunday – damn it has a strong fragrance. Its not bad, just over powering 9and makes me sneeze occasionally)

    • Stacy Fox says:

I don’t think so, Steve – just a normal cold. Definitely cannot blame it on too much exercise!

  5. Bonnie says:

I was down to 130 lbs. on Sunday morning – yay me! But then Cinco de Mayo… Today 133.5 lbs. And I was sent home with Cinco de Mayo leftovers… And not much time, if any, for exercise this week… 😕

another big tree bites the dust in my front yard.
Glad we are made of money these days.
Tree guys doing a great job – no crushed hostas or other landscaping,
And – we will have more mulch to spread – oh yippie! (I really need the sarcasm font)

    • Steve says:

I coulda dropped that tree for a six pack! Don’t know where it mighta landed, but I coulda.

      • Barb says:

of course Allan could have done that too…….. but I do not have time for an insurance claim.
