Well, we had one good day at LEAF…

The rain started on Friday night, and stopped only periodically. This was the scene around 6:00pm on Saturday, with more rain in the future.
How Much Mud Could A Mudchuck Chuck?
This is usually grass.

When we realized LEAF was never going to be fun again this time, we high-tailed it to Black Mountain where we spent the night with Randy’s brother Steven and his sister-in-law Dawn.

Lunch in Asheville yesterday before making the trip back home to set up wet camping gear to start drying.

What a weekend! Loved the lecture I attended Friday night, Davey & Chew2’s reception was *off the charts* fun (saw sooooo many people I hadn’t seen in forevers!) and then the Atlanta United game yesterday (we won!). The soccer game was last minute: a friend surprised me with his ticket since he couldn’t use it. Since I had had zero other exercise I told myself I could only go if I walked there and back. Got completely drenched on the way home. *grin* But it was warm enough out and we had just won so that was all good. Now to just get through the week so I can have another awesome weekend (knock on wood)….headed to the gulf coast on Friday morning whoop whoop!

That mud does NOT look fun.

    • It was serious, Black Sheep, mud.

Funny I watched recording of two soccer games — Werder Bremen, Atlanta United — and in each the team for whom I was rooting won 1-0, and had a second goal nullified for some reason.

I don’t think I’d enjoy all that mud.
No fun getting everything cleaned up after.

Well, the good news is no one died. Collegiate Roads is in the books. Friday TT was uneventful, Saturday RR- a field of 60 women raced almost 60 miles to a field sprint. The 100+ men I followed had a crash 4 miles from the start that affected half the field and took 35 minutes to restart and pick up the carnage. Neutral support ran out of wheels and bikes. Finally got restarted and things were fairly calm. With 2 to go (5 lap race), the weather started to look ugly and Ft. Gordon weather said to expect hail and high winds in a half hour or so. 2 to go became 1 to go and it came down to a filed sprint.

Sunday’s crit had intermittent rain but some good racing. More crashes on the wet pavement or just being stupid. A crash right in front of the pit for no reason took 25 minutes to sort out. 2 ladies hard on the deck and the medical team treats it as a car crash- took their sweet time moving anyone. Not use to bike races where the biggest injury might be a broken bone, not severe trauma. Granted, the one woman said she landed straight on her head (thought her helmet didn’t appear damaged.)

Considering what was forecast, I think we dodged a bullet. Now back at work to rest.

  3. Wow, tonight’s hash starts at the Glenwood Kroger, for the fourth time in a month. Even I might be getting tired of hashing around East Atlanta.

I’m laying the Memorial Day Monday hash, I can guarantee it won’t be in the ‘hood this time.

    • Barb says:

Breaststroke & I were talking yesterday about how so many hashes are in East Atlanta.
We were thinking we might one day lay trail in Buckhead – the hash almost never goes there it seems.

      • Stacy Fox says:

        Well that’s because it’s Buckhead. 😉

I should really get on the ball and lay a hash again sometime soon too.

        • Barb says:

true – but at least it would be somewhere different.
We need to see if any of the old school bar/restaurants are still around. I remember doing a really fun pub crawl (I think it was red dress) in Buckhead way back in the day.

Weekend was a good one, except Allan worked all weekend, so I was solo.

As Stacy said – so many people at Tucker Brewing – so fun to see people I rarely see anymore. All that socializing is exhausting.

Sunday morning Sal came over & we got caught up on Survivor – season finale is this week. We totally don’t care who wins – but the show is still entertaining for us.
Watched some ATL UTD at Hoyle’s, they never have enough waitstaff.
Then went to Breaststroke’s for some dinner – venison wrapped in bacon, can’t go wrong with that!
