Up early but not in the office . Instead I’m off to a 9:00am doctor appointment to give blood for blood tests. Fun!

Been fasting since 5:30pm yesterday and I am already sooooo hungry. 😐

I managed to get my tags from the Kroger kiosk but next year I’ll just get them by mail. When I scanned the bar code on the form the screen said “Account not found” and booted me out. I was able to use the driver’s license option. Then the machine refused to read one of my credit cards. I finally prevailed. $4 of extra fees incurred per tag as well.

The state clearly needs a better app developer for that damned kiosk.

    • I think that I will be renewing online today.

    • Bonnie says:

The two times I’ve used it it’s worked fine. I did scan my DL both times and never tried to scan the document. I do dislike extra fees, but sometimes I give in.

Lurker, have you been to the new Publix yet? I went for an inaugural stroll yesterday. There may be a few special items I occasionally may spring for, but the prices are generally a bit high for me for everyday staples. The wine I looked at was much higher than Kroger. I have plenty of gripes with our Kroger, but I’m too thrifty when it comes down to it, and Publix is a longer walk. 😁

      • Barb says:

$4 in extra fees for the Kiosk???
I was annoyed with $2 doing it online. (when you only pay $20 – the fees are noticeable)

        • ITP Lurker says:

$3 of it is a “convenience” fee. Given how shitty the kiosk is, they misspelled the word and left the “in” off the front of the fee name. What also chaps me is there’s no state employee in that machine. We’re still paying those salaries, and then paying extra to use a machine? Total money grab.

      • It’s like buying from Ticketmaster. 😏

      • ITP Lurker says:

Bonnie, yes, I’ve been to the new Publix a few times. It was a nice walk down the new Beltline to get deli sandwiches for a pool party at a friend’s condy on July 4. I love that the parking lot is so tiny. Surprising for a complex built by that developer. I can’t stand Kroger explicitly tracking my purchases or charging me a “tax” if I don’t agree to be tracked. Publix has BOGO offers that always knock some money off the total, so it evens out to me. If I lived across the street from that Kroger, it might lure me in on convenience, but in my view Kroger trades on being just shitty enough that you’ll grit your teeth and bear it. Shopping at Kroger is truly is a soul-sucking experience for me, so my cross to bear is paying more for my groceries. I’m OK with it, I’d rather keep my soul intact. 😉

You realize they don’t really need accurate information when you get a Kroger card? Make stuff up and they can reap that data…

          • ITP Lurker says:

I still have to type in a phone number to avoid the tax, which isn’t required at Publix, so…

To each their own, I’m glad to finally have a choice and not have to drive to Midtown to grocery shop. THAT is how much I cannot abide Kroger.

        • I gave Kroger accurate info when I signed up years ago, before I ever thought about privacy. Oh well…

I didn’t realize you had to fast that long!

    • I didn’t, but because of German class and the appointment time (btw, I’m already done and am eating at Waffle House), I couldn’t risk messing it up.

For tomorrow’s appointment I need to fast for four hours and have no caffeine whatsoever for twelve hours before.

  3. Steve says:

Have fun with your test. Hope they find out what’s wrong with you… I mean besides all the obvious things! 🙂

The Tour starts getting lumpy today and more lumps tomorrow. A picture of my friend Adrienne is circulating on FB of him measuring sock height at the time trial. Yes, the UCI has some odd rules, and this is one of them. (aerodynamics)

Reminds me of the joke about the guy with a shovel following the elephants at the circus. His friend asks why he doesn’t get a good job, and he responds “What? Give up show business?”

  4. Just saw that my normal post-German class watering hole, RiRa, is dressed up like a coffee shop for whatever is filming there today.

Unrelated: I saw that Clint Eastwood and Jon Hamm ate at Homegrown yesterday.

    • Barb says:

it would be better if you said you saw Clint Eastwood & john Hamm EATING at Homegrown yesterday!!
Clint Eastwood amazes me – as old as he is and as busy as he is!

      • Bonnie says:

Ah! When I went by Homegrown yesterday it was covered up with movie gear and I wondered what was filming. I almost commented to you Paulie that it was a good thing you didn’t choose to eat breakfast there that day!

    • ITP Lurker says:

I wonder if the waiter asked him, “Well, punk, do you feel hungry? Do ya?” 😉

  5. Barb says:

I’m not sure what all is happening, but the cabinet guy is coming over today.
We have to get the lower cabinets DONE, as the countertops get installed on Friday morning. Hopefully he is bringing most of the doors & drawer fronts – I got all the handles in yesterday.
We are getting CLOSER to a working kitchen! I can’t wait to get the sink up & running again.

  6. ITP Lurker says:

Oh, and this dispatch from the “I never thought I’d see this in my lifetime…” department, a new beer garden on Boulevard south of the railroad tracks, just a couple of blocks from the prison. Summerhill’s halo is clearly spreading..

I spy, with my little eye, a new end point for a hash… 😉

I drove by the armored car last night and just thought it was broke down. I didn’t realize they were giving cash out the side door:
