I know that you are all tired of hearing me brag about my wonderful skills, perhaps skills more wonderful than have ever been seen before, but I must say that my cooking game has been on point this week. So far I’ve made a really tasty American Goulash dish, a batch of near-perfect hard-boiled eggs, and last night I made a vegetarian “chicken” bake that was superb. In fact, the only problem I have had with my cooking this week is that I have followed recipes that make too much food, which we all know is bad for my waistline. Oh well, I guess I will just have to deal with the consequences…

FWIW, I’d much rather hear you brag than whine. 🙂

Two links to share: This first one reminded me of the “Home Was Where the Hearth Is” photo series that I greatly enjoyed back in the day. In this case the house is still still attached to the hearth though:

Also, coming soon you’ll have the option to do an infrared sauna that offers “vitamin C rain showers” on your lunch hour. Who makes this stuff up?

    • Thanks and thanks. Sometimes I wish that I still dedicated the time of driving around the state going places, which is how that photo series began.

$350k for a modest house in Oakland City. Wait, what?!?!

      • ITP Lurker says:

        Beltline proximity.

      • Still not convinced that it’s a sane evaluation, even though it’s “near” (“a half-dozen blocks from”) the Beltline. To me proximity to the Beltline is much like waterfront proximity, you are either on it, or you are not. Technically my house is eight (long) blocks from the Southside Beltline but no one but a realtor would say that I am “near” it.

Hell, all real estate is insanely priced in my opinion, so I should not be surprised.

        • ITP Lurker says:

To be clear, I wasn’t trying to imply any sense of sanity. There’s lots of other houses on the west side asking in the 400s.

          • Barb says:

Allan still says Oakland City isn’t very gentrified yet – (do you see white people out running?) I know, bad joke, but its true.

            Still busy as hell here.

        • Understood. I really didn’t mean to imply you were. Like I said, I certainly don’t understand real estate pricing. Well, other than knowing that all the unsolicited “offers” I receive are lowballs. 😉

    • And someone needs to explain to me how that huge new candy store dessert restaurant “Sugar Factory” can afford to operate at the corner of Peachtree and 11th. It must be a front for some sort of money laundering operation being located so closely to The Fed.

I walked with the walkers at George’s last night—my first time I’ve done the George’s Wednesday thing. My friend that I went with can’t run which is why we joined the walkers. Afterward I was about to order a beer at George’s when my friend decided he wanted to hang out / eat elsewhere. So we abruptly left and ate at La Fonda. I am kicking myself because I purposely only ate half of my meal so I could cut stretch the budget by making a second meal of it today, but I left the leftovers on the table! (I can picture Paulie in my mind saying, “dangen!” 😁.) $5 down the drain. 😢

Today I’m helping out a friend who had a hip replacement earlier this week. He had the surgery Monday and went home that night!

  3. Oooh, I just remembered that I own a vacuum sealer! I wonder if I can seal and freeze some of the leftovers from last night? It may be worth a try.
