Remember, remember the Fifth of November; mostly because it’s the anniversary of Glory Mole’s first haring… 😂

Today I intended to compare and contrast the vegetarian Toad in the Hole that I made last night to the carnivorous one I made nearly thirteen years ago. However, given that I failed to use the same recipe, save the sausages of course, and, I was too embarrassed by the appearance of the one I created last night, no comparison will be made. Both versions have their merits, and I will continue to work on a vegetarian variety.

I have also started to investigate how to create my own vegetarian sausages. Though, I have to admit that some of the commercially-available sausages are pretty damn good.

And finally, I made a powerfully-flavorable red wine reduction sauce with mushrooms that would be suitable to cover any sort of steak or fake steak.

    Vegetarian sausage? Inconceivable.

I told Debbie last night I was going to die from gout. “Things to avoid- beer, vodka and grain whisky, red meat and pork, shrimp and shellfish”. So long, cruel world.

A half hour on the trainer spent watching Outlander. I’m working my way up to being able to stand riding for a full episode.

    • I hear you my friend, but keep fighting the good fight. I have to admit, watching (mostly) YouTube channels create vegetarian/vegan versions of the foods I have eaten my whole life has been interesting, and sparking my creativity.

I need to start exercising daily now that my ankle is a little closer to “right”.

I also can’t believe that we’ve been friends for 2 years, Paulie! We’ve crammed in a lot of fun during that time. 😁

How you remember what you cooked 13 years ago is amazing, I can’t remember what I had for dinner last night sometimes.

Steve – I am with you on the gout thing, the limits it puts on food (& drinks) is depressing. Is it for sure you have it?

    • I was taking Instagram-quality photos long before Instagram, and posting them to Flickr. 😂 I remembered making Toad in the Hole once in the last twenty years and found my photo which told me the day I made it. 🙄

The blood test for uric acid has a range from 3 something to 8.7- I’m at 8.1!! The podiatrist hasn’t responded yet, but I think it’s a given. The night before the test, we had sushi, so maybe I was a little higher than normal, but still.

Thanks for asking Paulie that question, Barb. I know his brain works in mysterious ways, but still… 😂😂😂😉😉😉

      • I don’t like to brag but some people have called me half of an idiot savant… 😉

I don’t know if the site is slow for everyone else, but if so, I’m sorry since there is nothing I can do about it at this time.

More than just your site has been behaving odd today, my conspiracy theory is the Russians are using up our bandwidth trying to affect today’s elections.
