Last night’s weather made it an easy decision to not hash. I wouldn’t be surprised if people ran a trail because that’s the hashing mentality for you. Instead I popped onto my trainer for 45 minutes and got my exercise in that form.

Last night I attempted inventing the biscuit burger, okay, I know that I wouldn’t really be inventing this… The heavy rain also convinced me not to go to Kroger after work, so for the Beyond burger patty that I had identified as “dinner” I attempted to make a biscuit bun using Bisquick. Had I not been so foolish as to bak the biscuit dough on aluminum foil, to which it stuck mightily, this experiment would have been declared a success.

Have I mentioned how much of a rip off I believe Kroger gas is? Even with my $0.20/gallon discount I paid $2.56/gallon, which I believe is pricier than most gas stations’ normal prices. I know I am comparing apples to oranges here, but at a QT in South Carolina last week I paid only $1.99/gallon! Discuss. 😉

Yeah, I noticed that about Kroger. They used to undercut the market a little, apparently to lure people in, now the gloves are off. It looks like you signed up for their Fuel VIP program? I apparently don’t drive enough for the $40 up front to make sense. Especially now that they’re abandoning the concept of price competition.

    • I didn’t join the VIP. I had $0.20/gallon credit since I didn’t use my January points because I gassed up to and from Raleigh. Thankfully, while I still work in Midtown I don’t drive much.

20 cents off means you spent $200 at Kroger.
We have no Kroger gas station near us, so I go to Shell & get 10 cents off. It’s better than nothing.

    • Sadly it’s not hard to spend $200 on groceries now. I also think that Kroger doesn’t give fuel points for alcohol purchases.

I filled up Friday and got 50 cents off. I’m glad to get the discount but also I cringe at the amount spent at Kroger. However, I received 200 bonus gas points recently so that helped. I also usually fill out the surveys which earn you extra points as well.

Currently, gas is running about 2.18-2.25 around me. Remember, you are paying the “downtown” surcharge. That still seems a bit of a rip. As far as SC, you can thank the state of Georgia for finally raising the gas tax a few years ago.

    Greetings from Indialantic, FL.
    It’s blue sky & 73 degrees.
I’m sitting outside by the pool in short sleeves.
We are at Hoosier & Mullet’s place, and other hasher friends from Hedon days are joining us later today. Party Hats & Nabob are just up in Cocoa Beach. And Cheese Spread is road tripping from St Pete. It’s a dinner & a party on a Tuesday night. Not sure who else was invited.

Data point: $2.06/gal on 78, between Decatur and Athens.

Low(er) fuel prices are (supposedly) the result of decreased demand from “Asia”.
Pundits are predicting sub-$2.00 gas, near term.

See also pundits predicted Clinton to (overwhelmingly) win 2016 presidential election.

In other news, Atlanta Fire captain suspended for 48 hours, without pay, for “rushing into a burning building (without waiting for backup) to save an elderly woman (who later died)…”

I might have guessed a fire captain has sufficient experience to make that call, spur of the moment. I’m sure there’s more to the story…..

As yet another shooting at Lenox Square Mall. Food court rendezvous, transition to the parking lot, blah, blah, blah.

I wonder, at what point, overall mall revenue is impacted enough to justify paying an APD officer or two (or three) to permanently (and visibly) patrol the parking lot(s) adjacent to the mall food court?

If we had “more common-sense gun laws” then armed crime occurring (apparently) routinely at Lenox Square Mall could be stopped. Stopped, I tell ‘ya.

  5. Speaking of constantly feeling screwed… I received an email telling me about a concert I might want to attend in May at Drunken Unicorn. Tickets are $18 (fair), with a $5 fee (ridiculously high!). I used to think just Ticketmaster was evil, now I think that it’s all ticket brokers.
