Yesterday I apparently waited until the worst possible time of day to go out and run a couple of errands. The main reason for going out in a minor monsoon was to purchase a birthday card for my mother, whose birthday is next week. It’s not like I’d forgotten about buying her a card, she’d never hear of that, it’s that in January I didn’t see any cards I liked and you know, time passes… Given how long it took my brother’s Christmas card to be delivered I hope that I’ve not waited too long!

It seems as if the minor monsoon through which I waded was the head of a cold front, which has brought significantly colder weather to the Southeast. It will be colder today in Atlanta than it will be in my brother’s city of New York! If not for the fact that I need to romp up to the post office today to mail the card purchased yesterday, and now I recall using the last of my postage stamps around Christmas so I suppose I’ll be buying more of them as well, I’d not leave the comfort of home. Fortunately I possess proper clothing (I’ll recite what I believe to be a false German saying “Gibt es kein schlechtes Wetter, nur schlechte Kleidung.” — “There is no bad weather, only bad clothing” 😀) so I will bundle up this afternoon to make the journey. I will also attempt to fight the urge to pick up litter along the way. 😉

I keep looking at purchasing a new MacBook Air (I know I whine about spending money, but this really is a justifiable expense given my profession). I really wish that I was able to pick up a purchase at an Apple Store, like in the Before Times, rather than trust delivery of it to the ITP Estate.

Other than a trip to the post office, today will be spent working, and, if I can get my shit together, studying German tonight. I wanted to do some work in the basement tonight, but this work will create quite the literal dust up so I’d like to wait until I can turn off the central HVAC, open the back door, and suck out some of the dust I’ll be stirring up instead of distributing it around the house.

Hope you are remaining well, staying happy, and have the proper clothing for whatever occasion you find yourself in today. Barb, I guess that means a bathing suit for you and Allan today. 😂

Tuesday Tale of the Tape: 185.6 pounds (-1.0 from last week’s weigh-in); unexpected, especially since I’ve not properly exercised this past week for obvious reasons.

Apple is offering free 2 hour courier delivery. They were charging $5 for that service at Christmas. You’ll get an email with a tracking link when the courier is on the way to your house.

It really surprises me that Apple stores are still closed. I would offer you some stamps but since you are mailing your card from the post office anyway I suppose you can just purchase some there. 😁

Early on in our friendship Paulie you weighed 220 pounds. You really have done a great job!!! 🙌🏻🤘🏻🥳🍻👏🏻🤜🏻🤛🏻 I need to take some lessons from you! My extra 10 pounds of gained winter weight is still hanging around…

Last week, I received a security token via Fed Ex. I had to SIGN for it! Wonder why you couldn’t request that sort of shipping?

We have ice on the deck this morning. I know this as I helped Brownie out first thing this morning. He seems to be a tiny bit better. We managed to get some meds into him yesterday, but he still isn’t eating. His walk outside this morning was much closer to normal, but still a bit of a wobble. He might spend the night with Aunt Nicole so he can get some IV meds.

A pretty calm President’s Day yesterday. Dinner was carnitas tacos. On one of her Costco runs, Debbie found frozen carnitas. Really tasty. There was some light riding in the Zwift world. I realized what I have been doing wrong when I can’t find the road I’m looking for. A rookie mistake.

Rainy this morning, going to have breakfast & then head to Fort Myers.
    Probably no swimsuit wearing today.
And there is a Skyline chili restaurant over there somewhere, Allan is thinking we may have to stop in.

Last night went out to the beach, and at 10:59pm we saw a space launch. That was pretty cool, even being many miles away.

  6. Dishes washed. I’m now down one teacup that I dropped and broke its handle off. I had second thoughts about tossing into the garbage, but when I cut my knuckle retrieving it, decided it would remain in the garbage.

  7. Hmm, USPS says I’m getting something from an anesthesiologist today. Looks like someone is coming back for more money… 😡

  8. Barb says:

You know you are good friends when the friends you are visiting send this – “can you stop by Best Buy in Fort Myers & pick something up for me? I’ll send you the email with all the details.”

  9. Back from a cold walk to/from post office. Job done! It was a cold, cold walk; some would have called it “super cold”, but not me. Gloves were good, but not good enough; rest of attire worked as expected.

  10. And I tried a slow trot from the mailbox to the house. Assessment: not good.

I was really hoping for much more by this time. 😢

The vet came to see Ceili and since she needed to be jogged, I was the official jogger. It is cold out there. I see breaks in the clouds, but not near enough to thaw the hose!
