Monday again. I must say, it’s a lot easier to wake up on Monday knowing that I am not going to have to commute to work nor attend standup meetings. Now where am I going to get the money I need to survive…

Mine was a glorious weekend, different, yet the same.

I spent most of Friday choring in WLF. Slowly but surely I’ve cleared much of the felled pine tree and have taken out plants that are no longer productive crops. I still have much to do back there, but progress continues, more on this in a minute. I stayed at home on Friday night, and a glance at Instagram changed my plan for Saturday.

Naturally Saturday started with a walk up to the Village, picking up garbage along my route, to meet up with Betsy and Bella for our weekly walk. This week’s edition also saw us stop into a garage sale that happened at one house along our route. The three of us wound our way around our beaten path, and when I arrived home again I showered and plopped onto the couch to watch sports. However, I still had that nagging feeling from Friday, and then around noon decided to act upon it.

WHAT WAS IT ALREADY?!?!?
The plan was two-fold, which it had to be in order to justify driving to Marietta on a Saturday.

On Instagram I saw that Schoolhouse Brewing had just released a new beer called “Pitter Patter IPA”, thus combining two of my loves — IPAs and Letterkenny. I had to have some! Because Schoolhouse never brews a second batch of any beer, I convinced myself that going sooner rather than later was a good idea. Also, remember back to Thursday when I went to two Aldis to find a camping table; I figured that I could check the Aldi on Spring Road (twenty-plus years of going to that area for my dentist has its benefits). I scored on both accounts!

While sitting outside at Schoolhouse I was greeted by a dog, whose owner apologized. The dog was friendly, and as I discovered a mere, yet not small, 9-month old. The young lady (owner) and I started talking an I couldn’t figure out how she knew my hash name, nor from where she was getting her facts about me.

“We moved here from Illinois.” Um, no I didn’t.
“We moved to Sandy Springs.” No, when I moved to Atlanta I moved to Dunwoody.
“We want to buy a house in Roswell.” The man who identifies as ITP? NEVER!

And then I realize that she was talking about herself, the dog, and their man. 😂 And was sending me abundant signals telling me that she wasn’t interested. As if I didn’t know that. 😏

Yesterday found me back in Marietta for the Black Sheep Hash! 😮 Though there was much road for a Black Sheep, I understood that the hare was getting us to Breaststroke’s pool, so it had to be done. I was okay with it regardless, because truth be told, I wasn’t looking to run a brutal trail yesterday. After the hash I drove Glory Mole (aka ITP-Reader Bonnie) home and hung out for a little while. I hadn’t seen her cats in awhile so I didn’t want them to forget who their favorite person, well mom-resident favorite person at least, is. 😹

Today?
– Choring
– Coding
– Hashing (another Brownwood Park start? Huzzah!)

Hope that you had a fantastically fun and healthy weekend.

  1. Where are we eating lunch tomorrow? Free parking is a must.
What time works best for all? My schedule is wide open.

  2. Bonnie says:

Mark your calendars for Saturday night, let’s go to the velodrome! 6-10pm. Weather permitting I guess? https://spinthedistrict.com/about-east-point-velodrome-race/?

So, my thought was the Willies at the park. You could even ride your bikes to meet me! What a concept. I’m open to other suggestions…

I decided after the racing in Lagrange we should support the local restaurants. We hit an amazing Italian place Friday and had a wonderful meal. Debbie had a pasta dish with chicken and spicy sausage and I had a veal dish- the veal served over eggplant and spinach! Slap yo momma good.

Saturday had me choring- took the load of crap from the man cave to the dump, readied my chain saws for the trail day Sunday and picked up feed so Daisy could go to “camp” this morning. She is going back to the trainer for a few weeks to get in shape before being sold.

Sunday was a trail day. Took out 2 good sized trees across trails and cut back a lot of undergrowth. More work next Sunday.

  4. I bet you that the person who wrote the children’s book “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” was a vegetable gardener.

  5. Barb says:

Just tell me where & when tomorrow, Allan is at Hyox, so not sure if he can join.
Sal might be interested in joining us. She’s not working t9morrow.

We went to the AH4 hash Saturday, cold pool ending at Head Nurse’s sisters house in north Marietta. There were about 25-30 people, and of course knew everyone.

  6. Willie’s will be fine. What time? Bonnie, let’s discuss riding bikes there tomorrow.

    • ITP Lurker says:

FYI, the normal 10th Street bike lane is blocked off for Music Midtown prep but there’s a temporary bike lane you can ride up to Juniper on instead.

Since I’m here, I kayaked 6.5 miles on the Chattahoochee on Saturday. That was my second time ever on the Hooch, the first time was a quick kayaking experiment to feel it out a few weeks ago. Slowly knocking this goddamn lifelong water phobia to the ground.

I’m doing the Cartersville Century this weekend.

      • Good to know. Thanks!

Good luck with Cartersville. I did a metric century up there many years ago, and enjoyed the ride a lot.

        • ITP Lurker says:

That’s good to hear about Cartersville. You were smart to do the metric century, there’s an absolutely monster hill 70 miles in.

Comparatively, the Georgia 400 Century had about 5,000 feet of elevation, versus around 4,100 for this course, so it should work out.

      • Bonnie says:

        Way to go Lurker!

      • Barb says:

Hey Lurker, you getting Minty to ride Saturday?
I like those roads around Cartersville, should be a fun ride.

        • ITP Lurker says:

Yep, it’s Minty’s fault that I signed up for both the Georgia 400 Century earlier this year and now the Cartersville Century. I didn’t ride with Minty in June because it was my second century and I wanted to see what I could do with it. I’m planning to ride the whole ride with Minty this time, with luck it’ll be her first century. Maybe it starts and ends at the Budweiser plant because the only way to get people to drink that beer is to grind them down first? 😉

        • I couldn’t even drink it for free! 😂

  7. Steve says:

I think Noon would work for me. Beltline to Monroe to Park and once around to Willies. We hopefully be sitting outside, so no need for locks.
