What do you get when you cross a turkey with an eagle? Unfortunately you get the runners doing the shorter trail, and the walkers doing the longer one. Such was the case last night when the hare accidentally transposed her T and E. The eagle trail takers were at the beer stop in less than a mile, and then we waited for the walkers to arrive. As if we didn’t get a short enough trail, from the beer stop everyone went straight to the bar. Oh well, at least we were able to get a table, eat, and drink at Midway Pub on the first Monday of Monday Night Football, and on the night they apparently have a bocce league playing. Trail did run us past SoBa, a popular Monday night ending pre-pandemic, who is now (finally) serving food on the deck they constructed last year.

Prior to the hash I spent the day puttering around WLF. I’m still in “slow tear down mode” fighting the desire to return order (tidiness) to the farm, but also hoping those last tomatoes will ripen on the vine before they too get eaten by goddamn caterpillars. I was hoping by September the cabbage white butterfly, responsible for laying its eggs (which become caterpillars) on greens, would have gone for the season, but no, they are still fluttering about, landing on all of the seedlings I have put out.

One thing I didn’t do well yesterday was get back into the software development world.

I did manage to finish the book I have been reading, “The Good Lord Bird”, a day before my library loan expired. My desire to turn hiatus into retirement was strengthened last night when I talked to Aw Burned Out; he is retiring at the end of October. I’m not 100% sure, but I’d guess he’s roughly the same age as I am? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Win at is up for today? Well, I need to knock the cobwebs off my bike and ensure it has air in its tires before riding to Willy’s for lunch. In the name of exercise, fun, and no commitments Bonnie and I will probably pedal around a bit after lunch, taking in some of the local scenery (and working off some of the calories).

If I were still employed lunch would be had at my desk so that I could be glued to the monitor watching today’s Apple iPhone event. Instead I will watch the presentation tonight to find out what is coming down the Apple pike. Also tonight I expect to watch the latest episode of “Only Murders in the Building”.

Hope your week has started happily and healthfully.

Tuesday Tale of the Tape: 186.0 pounds (+0.8 from my last weigh-in two weeks ago); rats, I was hoping to turn this around. I am starting to wonder if my weight loss was tied to a medication I was taking?

Poor Debbie, she was really upset about her trail mistake. We all tried to convince her it wasn’t really a big deal the best we could. Now had it been a Black Sheep in the middle of nowhere, well that would have been a different story…

Ewe Do Her messaged me last night saying that the chefs at SoBa did a special pop up of some sort last night, I’m not sure it was even a regular menu. ?

Yesterday was almost all chores, including high-level cleaning and re-organization of the garage. There is still work to do. This morning will also be all choring all the time so I can play the rest of the day. 🙂

I’ve been awake since around 2:00am. Today should be interesting… Ugh.

    • As you know I too tried to help her understand that it was a simple, harmless mistake. Monday night is such an easygoing hash, as long as people make it to the end all is usually forgiven. And she had wine for Sani at the beer stop, so even she was appeased! 😁

I’ve only been up since 4:30am, so you have me beat. We’ll play it by ear and don’t have to go crazy after lunch. 😁 Google says 25 minute bike ride from your house. Expect me at your house around 11:15am.

Any suggestions on where to park near the Park?
I may have extra guests, Sal for sure, & maybe my friend Mark. (We are hiking at Gold Branch this morning)
I’m guessing Allan will be at Hyox well past noon, but who knows?

Gave blood yesterday at Truist Park, since Allan was home, he got an appt too. Tried a burger at Wahlburgers after, it wasn’t anything special. I’ll stick with H&F if I’m getting a burger at the Battery in the future.

There is parking for Willies right there, Barb. One reason why I picked it. I didn’t know if the in-towners were going to drive or what.

I was up at 1:45 to let Lola out, but that’s fairly normal and almost always fall right back to sleep. The vertigo still has me feeling puny, but I’m in the orifice and should be able to make it unless work gets in the way.

As I was feeling puny yesterday, I was pretty lifeless, but watched the brief video of the young rider zooming up the sidewalk at the Tour of Britain this past weekend. One of the pros just handed him a bottle like he was a teammate. They tracked this kid down and he was part of sign on ceremonies the following day. It was something special.

Back from vacation, rode Phoenix, Sedona, Flagstaff, Moab, Durango, and Angel Fire NM. What an epic trip!!

Hope you all are doing well

    • Bonnie says:

Some of your pictures were epic!

    • Geez, couldn’t you find anywhere cool to ride? 😂

I’m neither jealous nor envious because there is no way I could ride the rides you did.

      • Steve says:

Bob, it looked like great fun! Amazing! Hope to get there someday.

Did you rent or fly a bike?

      • I’m going to guess that he flew it there because I can see the desire to know your bike intimately in order to do those rides.

      • Bob says:

It was amazing and death defying at times. There was some exposure where you had like 3 feet wide trail and 500 foot cliff next to you. Serious pucker factor there! All good though, we dragged 15 people through and nobody got hurt.
I rode my own bike, Connor (the organizer) drove a truck out with 9 bikes in it. He is still in Colorado so wont get my bike and gear back till Friday or Saturday.
        Such an awesome trip!

        • ITP Lurker says:

What a cool trip! That’s amazing that you were able to truck your bike out there, from what I understand flying a bike somewhere isn’t for the faint of heart. 3 feet probably felt like 3 inches at times. It’s tricky enough driving cliffs in a car, such as in the Rockies, on a bike would be a whole different level.
