Sweltering twenty-mile ride last night. When I was done my kit was as wet as if I had jumped into a lake.

I have found a replacement for the “Great British Bake Off”, it’s called “Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year”. It’s a British competition painting show with the same mood as GBBO. Thus far I have watched the seasons from 2916 and 2017 free with ads using the Tubi app; I am not sure if the show survived the pandemic, but I guess I will eventually find out.

I solved today’s Wordle in four attempts; my starter today was DRAIN

  1. NYT Mini Crossword in 1:14. I was all over the map today.

Heardle fail. I couldn’t get another song out of my head, turned out I have heard of this group, but know none of their music.

Somehow failed to do a Duolingo on Monday. Weird. My “streak” was saved by a freeze used in the app. I really thought I had done it that day, but I guess that I was wrong.

  2. Jenka says:

Yesterday’s Wordle in 3 using STEAL. I went over to a friend’s for dinner last night and I did NOT want to do Duolingo when I got home, but I did it anyway. Blerg.

I have been trying to find The Great Canadian Baking Show but I am not having any luck. I looked on YouTube and I found a couple episodes and then a lot of shitty hand-held recordings of the TV. I wish they would just release it on Netflix. We are currently watching season 19 of Top Chef and after that will move to Season 32 of The Amazing Race. Once Finn goes to his mom’s next week, we’ll go back to Atlanta.

    • I was going to suggest YT for the Canadian version, but you are right, there is no complete and/or quality channel. I also watched a version from Australia, or was it New Zealand, on YT.

Watching the latest TC with Betsy on Wednesdays.

  3. While not perfect I think I have a system in place that will keep WLF alive in my absence. It’s not as fancy as what I originally imagined, but if the technology doesn’t break, it should suffice. As a bonus I should be a lie to return a 50’ hose that I purchased this morning!

Also, vinegar purchased, so pickling will happen today.

Taking today as a “clean/organize the ITP Estate!” day. It’s much needed. In the unlikely event that I’d ever invite someone over again this place can’t look like such a shithole.

Good morning from BFE Arkansas. Google maps didnt say anything when i crossed from MS to TN this morning, but a cheery “Welcome to Arkansas” as i crossed the river. I laughed out loud.

I donated $100 playing blackjack ($10 a hand) and 20 to the poker slot machine. I screwed myself several times when i got 5 cards to keep on the deal and didnt press hold on all of them. I finally set the bet up high and lost everything in about 5 hands.

A short day today, but lots of opportunity to explore the Ozarks. Stay tuned.

  5. Barb says:

I need to go out & check my tomatoes – I have no idea if Allan watered them while I was gone – but I’m not an attentive farmer at all…….. so, it is what it is.

Top Gun Maverick was entertaining – especially for $6.

Mini – Fail – had a wrong letter & couldn’t figure out where for a couple minutes
Wordle in 5 – not sure about that word.

  6. Barb says:

I think we are too old for that Heardle – but I’ve definitely heard of the band. My niece LOVES one of the members.

  7. David says:

Wordle sucked today, I eked it out in 6. 1:02 for the Mini, complete fail for Heardle, I was convinced it was a Cake song based on the guitar but cake is not in their list.

I liked Top Gun in the theater. Watched the old one on Netflix the last day it was available, man that movie has not aged well. They cleaned a lot of stuff up with the remake.

We started watching David Letterman’s new show on Netflix, and I just love it. Each episode is 20 or 30 minutes. He does a couple minutes of monologue, has a guest comedian do a few minutes of stand-up, and then he interviews them for a few minutes. Smart people having intelligent conversation. More of this, please.

    • Funny, I kept thinking today’s song was “Summer Loving” from Grease.

Little Known Paulie Fact: I have never seen “Top Gun”.

Is this Letterman show different from the interview show he started a few years ago? I love Letterman, but not enough to resubscribe to Netflix.

      • David says:

I didn’t see his previous show. I’ll have to see if it’s still on Netflix. If you resubscribe some day you’ll have a great show to watch. Or maybe Betsy has Netflix and this can be infill for Top Chef.

Keep your streak alive on Top Gun, no need to look back.

        • Betsy has just subscribed again, I will ask her about it tonight.

        • Barb says:

you are talking about My Next Guest – correct? I watched some of them in season 1 or 2, but then sort of forgot about it. Good show. Need to start watching again.

          • David says:

The new show is That’s My Time. I’ll look into My Next Guest, I think that’s what Paulie was talking about. Letterman got a bit full of himself for me back in the day, but he makes a great elder stateman of comedy.

          • Yes, the one I saw a couple of episodes was called “My Next Guest”.

          • Barb says:

I’ll have to check out That’s My Time. The Next Guest one is interesting, if you have any interest in the guy he was interviewing. I haven’t watched too many of them, but I did enjoy the Barack Obama one.

  8. Haven’t been very productive since getting the watering scheme set, but I am now eating an amazing lunch consisting of beans and kale from WLF and some tofu I baked the other day. These beans are wonderful!

Lunch from Wee a little Farm

It’s slightly over-salty but hey, live and learn.

  9. Barb says:

colorful beans – I love it!
Someday I may try to grow some beans again – are you doing bush beans or climbing beans?

One of your volunteers is going to town, it has lots of good looking cherry tomatoes growing. Its the only one doing really week, but all your volunteers are doing better than my store bought plants.

    • I am growing bush and pole beans. My first batch of green beans were from pole bean plants, these green and yellow ones were from bush bean plants.

My volunteer tomatoes have green ones, and all volunteer plants are kicking the asses of the ones I grew from seed indoors.

  10. Working in the basement in this heat is a joy since it is at least 5-10 degrees cooler down here. Getting some shit done!

  11. Steve says:

Arrived in West Plains, MO for the evening. Very glad to be in AC. Prolly should have stopped for lunch and cool, but no.

  12. Steve says:

I am, but i still havent had lunch yet! Walking doesnt sound great but may be worthwhile.

    Wordle FAIL.

  13. Two jars of pickled cucumbers in the refrigerator, one jar of bread and butter, one jar of dill. I will let them sit in their jars and crack them open in ten or so days.

Last year I bought a ceramic fermentation jar, if I can get my cucumber plants to continue to produce cucumbers, that might be the next thing I try.
