Somehow managed to hurt my right knee yesterday, but went riding regardless. Probably not smart, but I really wanted to ride and the weather was amazing.

I solved today’s Wordle in four attempts; my starter today was RAGES

You almost had me worried this morning. Rare I’m looking for the blog and it’s not already up. Cut that out. Wordle in 4, Mini in 2.

As I cruised west on 285 last night, I saw blue lights moving on Roswell Road- getting on the same direction I was travelling. More blue lights behind.. traffic starting to slow, then a fire truck crossing Riverside and getting on. This is not good. A quick exit on Riverside and retreat eastbound back to 400 had me home only about 10 minutes slower.

At the Games meeting, there was some discussion of how to handle the Queen’s passing. The program has not gone to bed yet, so that may be one option. A book of remembrance may be another.

    • I inexplicably slept until 7am this morning.

My knee pain, which is on the outside of the knee, hopefully just some sort of strain, and a sore lower back pain have impacted my day already. I’ve scrubbed my Lowes and laundry trips, but still have to travel OTP to return my insect repellent sample.

  2. NYT Mini Crossword in 38 seconds.

Heardle in one second, and am I a bit embarrassed that I knew it so easily.

  3. Like most people I don’t understand the YouTube algorithm. For the past few days it has been suggesting videos with former Pittsburgh Pirate baseball player Willie Stargell. Normally this means the person just died, but Stargell has been dead since 2001. Other times there is controversy involving the person, but my Google search returned nothing.

Orthodontist appointment today, I’m down to the second of 3 sets of finishing wires, so hopefully these torture devices come off by Christmas. Of course that then opens me up for some unknown rounds of dental work, but one step at a time

Mini in 43, no *dles yet. I did procure 21 bags of cypress mulch for my yard this morning. I probably need 100 total. I never remember how many bags I can fit in my wife’s car (30), so I’ll get more on the other trips. I would have gone back in and gotten more today but I didn’t have time. At least the mulch is on the premises at my house. That’s always a hurdle.

My son is on the fence about riding Beautiful Backroads this Saturday because he’s still banged up from Sunday’s bike crash. I’m starting to think I’m going to ride it with or without him. I need the space from life for a minute and I sure do like the 66 mile route. Depending how I feel I might go for the century, but that might be a stretch, I don’t think I’ve been longer than 39 miles in one ride this year. I can do 66 though. I have enough pent up energy to get me there.

    • I am trying to decide about Beautiful Back Roads. It conflicts with my Betsy and Bella walk, but more importantly my knee isn’t very happy today so perhaps pushing myself more than I did last night is a bad idea.

My right knee is jacked up right now. My physical therapist said that cycling is actually good for it. I didn’t feel any pain or discomfort on the 39 miles I did on Sunday. I felt it immediately though if I tried to walk my bike at all (Lucas needed to walk a couple of hills). I’m almost to the point of scheduling an orthopedist visit to get an x-ray to see what I’m up against. The good thing about Saturday’s ride is there are multiple routes, so I can always peel off early if needed, but I feel like I can get 66 miles in.

Annual physical this morning, except that I haven’t had one since 2020. I had one right before the lockdown, then we didn’t do anything for 18 months, then it took me 6 months to get this appointment. I am not looking forward to hearing about how unhealthy I am. Oh well.

We went to Taqueria del Sol in Decatur last night. That place is worth the wait!

Wordle in 3; Mini in :34

Due to miscommunication, I thought Ollie had been out for 4 plus hours last night so I was in a more than mild panic. He turned about 6:30. When I spoke with Steve later he had let him out when he left so only an hour or so, which is typical.

Both he and George were worked up last night. I suspect the armadillo was out and about.

I had planned to ride out with the foxhounds this morning at 8, but I was too frazzled to get my act together. The season has already started and I haven’t had my new-to-hunting horse out with the hounds at all — not the best set up for a quiet start.

    Happy Hump Day!

This morning as I was leaving the house with my dog there was a cute baby opossum across the street, and my dog totally flipped out! I have never seen him so riled up. I wonder what he has against opossi?

      • David says:

They’re real cute until you’ve just moved into your house and you go to throw some trash away after dark and see eyes glowing back at you from within the trash can! 😉 That was 18 years ago and I remember it like it was yesterday.
