I solved today’s Wordle in two attempts; my starter today was RISKY

Tuesday Tale of the Tape: 188.4 pounds (+1.4 from last week’s weigh-in); very disappointing since I thought that I was doing well.

  1. NYT Mini Crossword in 1:36

    • Barb says:

Wordle in 2 – I guessed as well as you did!
Mini in 2:20 – not bad considering

      Boring day yesterday over here.

  2. David says:

Wordle in 3 starting with SLIDE. Coulda got it in 2, but chose one wrong letter on after my first attempt. Mini in 1:10. It was clued oddly.

I guest taught at Kennesaw yesterday for a professor that teaches the same material 4 times a day. I could not do that for a living. I’m very pleased with how I have managed to teach college without teaching college by developing video-based assignments that rhe students use and that I grade with automates tools.

  3. Steve says:

Wordle in 4. Fairly disappointed considering I had the first, last, and 2 other letters with my opening. Mini was just too frustrating… anagrams? No.

A 3.5 mile walk yesterday. The computer showed 4, but I rode with a neighbor out to the pavement. Last week the county put down fresh gravel and it’s like walking on soft sand. I’m ready for my appointment with the cardiologist Friday and maybe be allowed to resume exercise.

The funeral was something else. We may see another in our lifetime, but likely not as grandiose. Certainly not as well attended. And I’m tempted to drop a note to the BBC and ask just how many cameras they deployed. Close to a thousand, I’d wager.

    • While I don’t pay much attention to the late night shows any longer the YouTube title for Stephen Colbert’s monologue last night reeled me in — “The Great British Send-Off”. LOL

  4. Rain? From where did that come today?

  5. If there was any question that my decision to pull the morning glory plants I put into WLF was the right decision, it has been answered. From my deck this morning I saw a pretty purple flower, and when I went into WLF I discovered the plant from which it had emitted was wound around a squash plant. Morning Glory is kin to bind weed, an invasive and problematic plant I have watched British gardeners complain about and pull on their YouTube channels for the past two years.

  6. Well this doesn’t happen often but Google has apparently borked Google Maps with their latest iPadOS update. The app crashes every time upon opening for me.

  7. Steve says:

I had beautiful, cloudless skies when I left the house, and admired the sliver of moon left in the sky. I just popped down to the cafeteria to grab breakfast and was surprised to see clouds.

You question the Google? All powerful??

    David, how was school teaching?

    • Steve says:

Sorry, I see you answered my question. If I had actually READ the blog…

      • David says:

LOL! It was a great day, I get to do this a few of times a year. Just enough. Yesterday was a great reminder on why I’ve worked from home for 18 years. My normal commute is about 15 steps from my back door to a tiny guesthouse in my backyard. On the way to Kennesaw there were three lanes blocked with a garbage truck fire. On the way back south 4 lanes were blocked with a 2 car accident where one car was on its roof. I think you have to seriously lose control of your vehicle for that to happen. It’s rough out there! I’m glad to be back at home today.

        • Steve says:

I don’t know if I could go back to commuting 5 days a week. The 2 I’m in the office aren’t bad, normally, but I also don’t have to commute anywhere near the top end. 85 South is ahead of the demand, whereas 85 North is attempting to play catch up, which they never will…

  8. When I was in Lowe’s this morning they were starting to put up Christmas trees and decorations. Allow me to be the first to yell “TOO SOON!” We are not even out of September for fuck’s sake.

  9. Jenka says:

I just want to say up front that I had no idea about yesterday’s Wordle except everyone said they had never heard of the word. I randomly used TRACE and got it in 2! I know the word well because I read a lot of Victorian novels.

I am one of those unfortunate people who go to the office 5 days a week, and it sucks. The only mitigating factor is that I live 2 miles away from campus and I can go back roads.

    • Steve says:

      2 miles? And you drive?

      • Jenka says:

2.4 miles, and I drive because almost every day I have to either drop the dog at daycare in Virginia-Highland in the morning or pick him up after work. If I don’t have to do that or any other errands, I like to walk or ride my bike. It’s a very pleasant route up Oakdale!
