Technology is great, until it’s not. This morning I tried to change the thermostat from the comfort of my bed by using the HVAC’s mobile app, only to be told that the unit is offline. When I go to the panel the unit is telling my that it is online. What we have here is a failure to communicate! No solution found as of this publishing.

I thought today’s Wordle answer was a repeat, but apparently I am incorrect.

I solved today’s Wordle in four attempts; my starter today was CHOIR

  1. Went into a Play It Again Sports store yesterday. The last time I did this is unknown. I went in mainly to kill time before doing some afternoon beer drinking, but walked away with a brand new Bontrager inner-tube for my road bike for a mere $3. It’s a shame that they only had one in stock.

And it appears that Peachtree Bikes has opened a store on the northwest corner of Clairmont / North Decatur as well.

I’m impressed that you got today’s word in 4 with your start word. It took me 5 starting with FIERY. I think today’s word is in the mix as a streak breaker.

I am looking forward to a weekend of mostly solitude. I do have a planned activity tomorrow afternoon that requires a guide, beyond that I will be on my own until Monday. I have lunch with a friend planned on my way back into town.

Alrighty, time to shop from home (meaning raid my pantry and fridge) for this weekend’s food provisions.

    • I was lucky to eliminate a lot of potential letters with my second and third guesses.

Enjoy your weekend. I hope it’s everything you hope it will be.

David – looking forward to saying hi tonight IRL (look at me, using the kids lingo).
We will be home – just shoot me a text (or go old school & call) when you are getting close. I’ll get the back gate unlocked.

      • David says:

Oooh, I may just go old school and be a safer driver by calling. You’ll hear from me either way, I’ll give you a heads up. I put a reminder on my calendar so that I don’t get in the zone and breeze by you.

And yes, it will be fun to see you IRL! I think the last time was at OK Cafe a few years ago.

Wordle in 5 – had to resort to the google for that word.
Mini is 1:04 – I thought I had it – but then realized I typed a wrong letter. Dang it!

We did nothing last night except make dinner & watch some TV.
Tonight (or maybe late afternoon) a friend is coming over to help Allan make a “palm tree” since we are taking over a Parrothead Christmas get together called Lighting of the Palm. The original party throwers moved to FL & took the palm. I’m just wondering what they will make tonight. David – you may get to see it when you stop by for the firewood.

      • David says:

Oh fun! Does the homemade palm get lit on fire, Burning Man style? Or just decorated for Christmas? So many variations on the words lit and light. 😉

I hope you have a wonderful weekend, David! A weekend by myself in the mountains sounds like absolute bliss to me.

      • David says:

Thank you, Jenka. The back deck of this cabin looks to be 20 feet or so from a river, so that will elevate the experience even more. Usually I reserve the weekend before Thanksgiving to attend a silent meditation retreat off of Riverside Drive in Sandy Springs. Someone gave the Jesuit monks 20 acres on the Chattahoochee. It’s an amazing property.

I’m changing things up this year a bit. Given that I talk for a living (mostly online via webinars), it’s always so restorative to have a weekend of little to no talking.

Wordle in 4 and I’m not eaxctly sure how. My starter was AISLE! I think there will be general Wordle outrage.

Tomorrow is opening hunt and we have the following wagons back after a 2 year absence. Meg and Ella are coming to join us. It will be cold, but we will be prepared. And speaking of antifreeze, I have run out of both my regular drinking bourbon and scotch! A trip to my neighborhood purveyor of such is in order.

A half hour on the trainer last night. Thoughts of riding outside are not even in jest at the moment. I’m just not interested in that much effort-to dress out.

Yesterday’s Wordle in 4 using STEAL.

No plans this weekend other than to lay low. We had a big weekend last weekend and a full week and we’re tired. Tonight we’ll take Finn out somewhere for a burger. Kevin picked up a honey-baked ham yesterday so this weekend I’m going to use some of that to make a corn chowder with ham. While I was making dinner last night I made a risotto, and this weekend my goal is to make arancini — deep fried risotto balls. (Heh, balls.) I don’t use my deep fryer enough!

  5. Betsy’s birthday is tomorrow, so I will buy her coffee for our walk and I think she may be having an afternoon fire.

  6. For those who like to use my Wordle starters:
    Saturday – FILTH
    Sunday – AFOUL

  7. Barb says:

    thank you to Jenka –
I now have plans for Saturday night – and I found myself a date since Allan is working.
Now we have to plan a meet up so I can buy her a beer or a cocktail or something as payback.

    • Jenka says:

I’m so glad you could take the tickets, Barb! We had to switch up Finn’s custody for this weekend due to travel, we didn’t expect to have him this weekend and the babysitter isn’t available. Plus we’re tired. Let me know next time you wander ITP and I’ll let you buy me a beer.

    • I have no idea what this is about. I need to stay up to date.

  8. Barb says:

    Someone took out our mailbox.
    DANG IT!
Now a project that we totally we not planning on
