After blathering a lot yesterday I don’t have anything to talk about today. Yesterday was a dull day around the ITP Estate.

I solved today’s Wordle in three attempts; my starter today was PULSE.

    Wordle in 2! WOOT!

Today is my Friday, as the rest of the week will be spent in lovely Huntsville for the Para World Cup. West

P’tree and Spring are both verklempt, as a crane on the new construction decided it was tired yesterday and laid down. They hope to have those critical arteries opened later today.

30 minutes on the trainer. Debbie has me scheduled for some trail maintenance soon so I got my chain saws sharpened and tuned. Still need to fix the network in the shop. It’s on the list…

yesterday was way too busy work wise -(starting over an hour late didn’t help matters)
But – today is back to normal.

Finally made a doc appt with an orthopedic doc -my lower back is bothering me more & more (it has for years) so I think I’m finally ready to talk to a doc about it.
I’m also going to go to a new eye doc for some new transition sun glasses – my old ones are on their last legs. My previous eye doc was a Pearle Vision in East Cobb, and they changed something, all the people have changed, and I didn’t like it as much. So -trying a new eye doc (that I found on my insurance website)

Next up – I need to schedule a yearly physical – I know its been more than a year.

    • steve says:

I’m moving from my stand alone PCP (in Decatur!) to someone in the Piedmont system next month. The only doc out of the Piedmont system will be my ophthalmologist. He will likely be next- just from the travel standpoint. Once I retire, I won’t see a need to head all the way into town.

      • My PCP is in Piedmont, but unfortunately has become one of those “concierge” doctors who want me to pay even more in form of a subscription for the privilege to see them.

        • Barb says:

My previous PCP went to “concierge” – so I got a new one at the East Cobb Health Park. Wellstar is the name on the building – was going there for the for a few years for my mammograms, they seem to have everything there. The Ortho has an office in that building too.

    • Look at you doing all this adulting. I’m avoiding that as much as I possibly can.

      • Barb says:

trust me, I have avoided it for way too long…….
but my back is just getting too annoying to ignore anymore.

    • Jenka says:

Ugh, I am also late scheduling my annual physical, mammogram, eye doctor, dentist. It’s overwhelming.

      • David says:

The phrase I use when I land in a space like that is “How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.” Book something, anything, today and get the process going. Emotional clutter is just as tricky to dispatch as physical clutter. Hell, sometimes much more so. The key is to break the inertia. 🙂

  3. David says:

Kudos, Steve. I started with LEAST and struggled until I closed it out in 5.

I have fallen off of the get rid of shit bandwagon and need to get back on, just to keep my momentum going. My future self will appreciate it.

Dinner and Wylie & Rum, which I knew had Bridgetown Grill roots. One of the owners is the son of the guy that started Bridgetown Grill back in the day. There is much coattail riding happening there. The Miami Cuban was fine but the middle aged Cuban ladies who staff Havana Sandwich Shop on Buford Highway have nothing to fear. This is my second time at Wylie & Rum. It’s fine. It wasn’t our first choice last night but it works in a pinch.

    • Barb says:

BTW David – I did shred a bunch of old refinance ppwk last week – maybe I’ll see what else I can find in that file cabinet today.

And – hell of a busy weekend you had………

      • David says:

Nice! Thank you for telling me. That helps me get motivated to get back on track. I have a definite need for an accountability circle. 🙂

    • Jenka says:

I’ve decided I don’t need to try Wylie & Rum. Caribbean flavors are just not my thing. I do love a Cuban sandwich, though.

      • David says:

You’re not missing anything. They call it a Miami Cuban on their menu, which is probably fair, it wasn’t a Cuban Cuban in my view. Close, but definitely no cigar.

    • I’m about to identify three things. I’m playing a little “catch up”.

W&R is on my list, but there are many others also on my list. My current lifestyle doesn’t afford me many opportunities to eat out.

      • David says:

Nice! Keep W&R in mind as a back-up. My friends enjoyed it, I’m just a snob. 😉 But also, I had my mouth set for the roast beef sandwich from Bona Fide Deluxe, but my daughter saved me from myself by noting that it’s closed on Mondays. I’m glad I didn’t roll up on a closed restaurant, that’s never fun.

I am back from Chicago! What a fun trip! We stayed at a hotel called Staypineapple which is apparently a new chain because there’s one in NY and another city. We had an amazing corner room that overlooked the Chicago Theater on one side and the lake on the other. Saturday we got deep dish pizza at Lou Malnatti’s, then we walked down to the Willis Tower (formerly known as the Sears Tower) but the Skywalk was sold out that day. In the evening we went to the Tina Fey and Amy Poehler show, which was ah-mazing. They are super funny ladies, plus they are our age so they did a lot of Gen X jokes. Sunday we went to the White Sox game. The WS are very bad this year, and they were playing the Royals, who are even worse, so I was able to score box seats for $60/ticket. We were right below the broadcaster’s box. It s was 70 degrees and sunny, a beautiful day for baseball! Yesterday we just got up and flew home. The Skyclub at O’Hare is really nice, it has individual showers and also little pods where you can have a private work meeting.

Back to the grind. Fortunately my boss was also out of town so the work emails were minimal.

    • Sounds like a rewarding weekend. Nice.

    • Barb says:

What an awesome weekend! I lived in the burbs of Chicago back in 88 & 89.
I need to get back there, I haven’t been back sone the 90s.
I was so jealous seeing your pictures.

    • David says:

What a lovely trip! I always choose the John Hancock building over the Willis because of the crowds. The last time I was in the Sears Tower was a few months after 9/11. I could see multitudes of plains taking off and landing from O’Hare. I remember thinking, what the fuck and I doing up here?

      • Jenka says:

Hmmm, duly noted re: the John Hancock building for next time! Although next time we will purchase Skywalk tickets ahead of time. You’d think we would have learned our lesson in SF when we tried to walk up and take a tour of Alcatraz. That shit was sold out 6 weeks ahead of time! Duh!

        • David says:

Yeah, I ran into that with the Statue of Liberty when I took my son to New York. I was able to do a walk-up tour to Alcatraz so I guess I got lucky. Such an eerie place.

        • Barb says:

we got next day tix for Alcatraz, but it was about 10 years ago. We didn’t start early enough, we had to cut it short to get back so we could get to the airport.

  5. While I am not exactly complaining about the weather, I need sunshine soon. Looking at the forecast this week I have to assume we are below our May average temperatures? My “warm weather” plants (tomato, pepper, eggplant, cucumber) are not exactly happy about this trend.

    • David says:

My grape tomatoes are doing well on my patio. They’re on their way to reach the top of my “stakes”, which are green chicken wire fence posts. I’m glad I put them on the patio this year, I had a couple years of fails in the front yard, probably because I was in a space where I was slapping them in the ground without amending the soil. I have lots of blooms already, so I’m excited to have tomatoes soon! Grape tomatoes are my go-to, they eliminate a lot of the risk of trying to nurture big tomatoes to maturity without some critter tapping into them.

  6. David says:

Good grief, Henry Kissinger turns 100 on Saturday.

  7. Bob says:

Took a day off riding yesterday as I was still tired from the weekend. Tinkered around the garage and took a step backwards in organizing and purging. All the stuff in my “workspace” was encroaching so much that I had to create a path to my workbench through all of it. So to create space I have parked my truck in the driveway and moved bikes and motorcycle to that side of the garage. Now that I have space I hope to re-organize and find better space for the stuff so I can get the truck back inside. I may also be able to get rid of 3 bikes that never get used.

    • Yeah, I allowed myself to take a day off from riding as well. If all goes to plan I will be riding today (19 mi), tomorrow (25 mi), Thursday (60 mi), and Friday (25 mi). The weekend is up for grabs. My knees will determine my success.

I assume that I will be tailing off next week as I get my stuff ready for BRAG.

  8. Trying something new today, baking a cornbread in my air fryer (using the Bake setting). This will also show me if the 8”x8” pan I bought at Dollar Tree for $1.25 is worth anything.

  9. I am always amused when stop signs in other countries have the word STOP on it instead of the same word in the native language.

  10. Barb says:

We just decided we are going to cheap movie night tonight – Allan wants to see Guardians of the Galaxy 3 (or whatever the name is) $6 – I’m ok with that price.

  11. Barb says:

I’m getting sucked into watching a Hulu show – Pretty Baby – about Brooke Shields.
Since she’s almost exactly my age, I find her early career interesting
