I spent most of my day puttering, before going out for a short trash pickup walk in the afternoon. It being garbage day for most of the streets in my neighborhood meant that the trash collection wouldn’t be 100%, so I knew that my efforts would not be in vein. Oh, and don’t forget that some of the trash is also generated by the shitheads who throw it out from their cars.
Thanks to ITP-Reader Sal the other day I reconnected with a high school friend. On my birthday (remember that awesome day of July 22?) Sal read my Facebook wall to me, including a post from my old friend who was trying to get in touch with me. Since I can’t log into FB, I reached out to someone with the same name on LinkedIn, and it was him! As an added bonus, he lived in Amsterdam for a short while, so I am parsing the information he sent to me.
More WLF choring this morning. I am in the process of starting to reconfigure parts of the farm by cleaning out old plants and moving grow bags. I also intend to transplant some Chinese Cabbage plants since I saw a squirrel eying them in the small pots that I have on the deck and want to give them the opportunity to grow to full-sized plants so that I can eat them.
Cycling tonight? Hopefully. It will be the first time I’ve mounted the saddle since RAGBRAI.
Wordle: four, my starter was GRAIN
Connections: perfect, Purple > Yellow > Blue > Green
I am glad you were able to reconnect with an old friend. It’s important. Bonus that he lived in Amsterdam.
I worked yesterday and tried to make sense of what happened to my friend. Family says it doesn’t make sense either. He was healthy, no history of heart disease. His Strava indicated everything should have been fine. He just collapsed and that was it. Going to be hard tonight at the GUTS run and him not being there.
I have Mia and Emma for the week and since school is back in session, they have plenty of kids to bark at.
Wordle in 3 starting with SCAMP. Connections: Y, G, X, B, P. Strands was easy.
Annual mammogram this morning. YAY me. Then probably yard work. With all the rain, the yard needs mowing again. I have given up on my garden this year. Just wasn’t motivated and now the weeds have taken over.
Hope everything is going well for Barb in Iowa.
Wordle in 3 and coulda been 2! A good day for a regular starter word.
There were chores around the farm last night. Replace tires on Debbie’s muck cart, inflate a possible slow leak in the new car’s tire, mow the driveway. Debbie made a delicious pork lion with creamed spinach and smashed taties.
My weekend trip to Newark looks like it might have to be postponed, as my contact might have the cooties. We shall see later today. I have to ask any of the NY techs for a hand as they have been such a PITA to work with. Other than that, I have a busy day in the orifice.

Senior leadership retreat all day today at the Carter Center. One good thing the new dean did is shorten the leadership retreat from two days to one. I think one day of trust falls is all that is necessary, LOL!
Trust falls – do they really do those things?
Nah. But other “team building” activities? Yes.
it was super hot & humid yesterday – but some front came thru – it is really nice cooll this morning.
nothing too exciting going on here –
Mom can’t really chew anymore – so its an applesauce & nutrition shake sort of food diet.
Oh, that does not sound good for your mother. I am sad to read that.
Its part of the progression of Parkinson’s.
a Hospice nurse came by yesterday, then an aide to bathe & help get mom dressed & out of bed.
Not sure who is on the list today, I know a chaplain (not sure why, but its part of the Hospice thing)
Tom did find out that the Hospice House – that we can use for respite care if needed, they also have a way to do longer term care at “only” $250/day. All the other long term care facilities are more like $350/day.
The More You Know.
Why is it that every time I consider going all in with T-Mobile their speeds slow to a glacial pace and I have second thoughts?
Made myself fried green tomatoes for lunch, using WLF tomatoes of course. 😀
