My effort to clean off the rust and seasoning from a cast iron pan given to me came to a grinding halt, pun fully intended, on Saturday when I couldn’t manage to take off the grinding wheel from my angle grinder. Rookie…
Imagine my dismay last night when Duolingo showed me a screen that said “Here’s 32 gems!”. Seriously? A language learning app that can’t get simple subject/verb agreement correct?
Wordle: three, my starter was CRASH (because GRIND has already been a solution)
Wordle in 2!!
Saturday was mostly spent at the velodrome doing some pressure washing. As I was working the steepest section of banking, there was much stretching and standing and by the end of 4 hours. I was cooked. There should be some chemical used to help get the black “mold” (I guess) off, but they haven’t found anything suitable.
Sunday was a solid hour on the trainer before going out to Lilburn for the “We fooled them again” party at a bar there. A good crowd of our volunteers. Great to see everyone. On the way home, we stopped for gas and noticed a Tim Horton’s. We bought little donut holes and I got a cold press coffee- tactical mistake! I was awake at 0130 and kinda slept a bit more through the night, but not a lot.

Well done. Won’t be surprised to hear of an ace today.
Tim Horton’s – in Lilburn?
In Fairburn… on the way home. There’s one across from the Varsity on North Ave. and there’s the one we went to on Ga74. Debbie said they are building one in Newnan…
never been to a Tim Horton’s – isn’t it just like a IHOP or Dennys or some sort of breakfast place?
More like a Dunkin’ Donuts. Not a sit down restaurant at all. Better pastries, Canadian way of life!
I’ve only been to a Tim’s in Canada.
After a weekend of cooking, and being but one person, I will be eating leftovers a lot this week.
I forgot to mention that I got out for a decent 25-mile ride yesterday afternoon.
And I failed to mention we have a big meeting this afternoon to discuss “executive orders” and “return to office”… oh boy!
Bummer
Busy & expensive weekend.
Friday evening decided to go to Wade Ford to buy a truck – Igor (from Africa, not Russia) was our young sales dude. He was actually a good guy – we think we got an OK deal on the truck – so we now own a huge F-350. Yikes- back to having a mortgage payment for a few years.
Saturday morning – back to the dealership to get more lessons on all the bells & whistles – we may have to go back again someday when we figure out more questions.
Saturday afternoon went for a 20 mile ride down to the river in Roswell. It was a little breezy, that cheater E part of my bike was very nice going uphill on Lower Roswell.
Went for a 5+ mile hike at Kennesaw Mtn Sunday morning with a friend – it was a lovely cool morning to climb the mountain.
F-350!! You need a bigger trailer!! Diesel or gas? (and don’t forget! Ask Saddle Sores!)
Gas engine – Allan hates Diesel (from expereiences with the City trucks)
Was the ask Saddles Sores because of the drama at the old place & parking it?
No, she once put gas in the diesel truck…
that’s a bad idea – but another reason to have gas – that way we never have to remember
I saw a video where a kid put DEF in the diesel tank. Turned in to a 3 or 4 hour repair in the parking lot.
Yay! What’re you going to do with your new toy?
pull the camper. It won’t get used too much
Been a busy morning around the ITP Estate. Doing a lot of WLF related choring, and happy to report that I figured out how to get the wheel off my angle grinder without breaking anything!
Speaking of breaks, I am breaking for lunch — leftover egg roll soup that I made the other day. Only wish I had some fried noodles to put into it.
Good luck with the cast iron refinish. I have a rusty pan in my garage I have been meaning to refinish (it has been there for 3 years :-))
I did an adventure ride on Saturday, love my gravel bike for stuff like that. Go down the road and if you see a path, take it and see where it goes. I did half hooligan trail network and half greenway ride for almost 20 miles. The weather was perfect!
After my ride I jumped on the moto and celebrated GA Beer day with a beer at Gate City then went to the Backcountry Discovery Route SouthEast route announcement. There is now a route mapped out from Navarre beach in Florida to Damascus VA, looks to be about a 10 day ride. It connects with the Mid Atlantic BDR which connects to the NorthEast BDR which takes you all the way to Canada on mostly dirt roads. I can’t wait to start planning my next big moto adventure.
that sounds like an epic adventure on the moto.
We totally forgot about GA Beer Day, but its not like we really need another Pint glass……
I secured my fifth Georgia Beer Day glass at Wild Heaven in Lee+White.
I had heard about the new BDR. That does sound like an adventure. I don’t think I’m quite on the bike to tackle a BDR yet, but I’m looking.
You are welcome to try out my F800 GSA any time Steve. Seems like the 700 to 900 CC bikes are king on the BDRs. Small enough for the dirt but big enough for the road transfers.
I am back in Atlanta after a pretty grueling 4 days up north. Barb, I have newfound appreciation for how much you do when you go to Iowa. That was rough. Weather-wise it was 40s-50s most of the time until Saturday late afternoon when the temp dropped to 29 and it snowed.
While I was there I made shepherd’s pie and stocked Dad’s freezer with leftovers. He’s severely allergic to gluten so sometimes it’s a challenge to find food for him.
Yea!! Jenka is back and dad survived her visit! Glad it all went well.
Thank you!
its pretty crazy how much stuff you do (& don’t do) all day – isn’t it?
gluten allergy – that’s fun. NOT
My dads teeth are almost all gone – so I need all food to be soft.
YES, it was a combination of hard work and doing absolutely nothing for hours. By 7 pm every day I was shot.
my brother gets up at the butt crack of dawn, so he has Dad conditioned to go to bed by 0800-0900pm at the very latest – so, I keep on that schedule because I’m exhausted by then too. Then I watch something on my iPad in bed & go to sleep way earlier than I ever would in GA
My dad has always been an early-to-bed-er, so he goes to bed before 8:00.
I know we are supposed to be boycotting Amazon, but I am so tired of going to Lowe’s and the, not having what I need.
