I think that I have gotten to the end of Duolingo? The only problem is that I am far from fluent in German. I know, that’s not Duolingo’s promise.
With the conclusion of Duolingo, my morning routine will also be changing some. I’ve recently given up on attempting Connections daily (too frustrating for me now), and after messing my success streak in Waffle, I’m going to take an extended break from playing it as well. The timing for all this is perfect as there is no way that I could keep up playing all the games and doing Duolingo daily during BRAG.
I attended a lecture last night at Trees Atlanta. In looking for a place to eat afterward I discovered that Junior’s Pizza in Summerhill, a place I really liked, closed at the end of last year. The closures just keep on coming…
Wordle: six, my starter was COUGH
Yeah, first…

Wordle in 5.
Maybe I should look into Duolingo. I have lots of project to work on once I retire, but keeping my brain fit is also on the list. Having watched my mom decline over the years, I’m acutely aware of, and worried about keeping mentally fit.
Made it home early to attend a late call, then the rest of the afternoon on the tractor. While not aerobic, trying to stay on the tractor over bumps and whatnot is a core workout.
Our planned camping “trip” this weekend has been washed out. I think we may camp here and see how that goes. The dogs are in for a surprise…

Bummer about the aborted mission.
The opposite has happened to me. I scrapped a Thursday/Friday trip because it looked as if it was going to be raining, and now, it looks as if it will be very nice. Oh well.
Duolingo won’t solve your concerns, but it can’t hurt either.
I totally worry about mental decline, but I don’t think a foreign language is going to help me. 😉
Barb you should see if Duolingo has Catalan. lol
I have interpreters for that language. 😉
Would you do German? I’m a total advocate for Duolingo, it’s not onerous but it does work your brain some.
I’m a little dismayed how poorly some of my transplants are doing. Some appear to have stunted growth, while others have perished and been replaced with my dwindling supply of backups. I know I shoulder some of the blame, but I am also wondering is some of the soil I purchased this year is bad.
There have been successes, however. Yesterday I picked a bunch of sweet peas to eat with lunch, and I have three nice heads of garlic drying in the basement, with many more still in the ground.
I guess I ought to go outside today & look at what I planted – I am a total absentee gardener – I plan, then never look back. I did plant some seeds, so they should be sprouting around now.
Playing Strands and I have one word remaining. I know the six letters — O, E, R, T, N, A — but can’t make a word from them! *face palm*
I just cheated and looked up the words for today. I have to admit, I feel a little dumb not being able to figure this out.
I rarely play strands -that game does not give me joy.
Strands is the one that brings me the most joy. I like Connections but only once in a while.
One of this year’s WLF trials is lemongrass. I bought some at H-Mart (I think, or was it at another Asian market?) a few months back, and have been rooting it in a jar of water. I planted it outdoors today, we will see how this works.
I think the rabbit I saw recently is responsible for chewing back some beautyberry plants I had in pots. I just found a collection of scat on the ground elsewhere in WLF, that may be from said critter.
The internet seems to concur, and now I think I know why I was smelling shit on my flip flops the other day…
Allan is off to hyperbarics this morning – hopefully this will speed up the healing on the femoral artery entry point – that’s one of the biggest worries of this whole surgery. Its an excellent perk of his part time job.
My flight to Iowa departs at 9:59pm tonight -what the hell……..
anyway – I land at 11pm, we will see if I can find a Lyft or Uber, of if I have to take a taxi.
I find that most US airports designate a ride-share pickup location that is pretty far from the terminal, while there is usually a taxi stand right outside. Although the Cedar Rapids airport might be too small, I’ve never been there.
you are correct on the ride share waiting area – it is far (but not far compared to most airports). Drivers usually come from intown, but that’s only 15 minutes away at the most.
Taxis are right next to baggage claim.
Wow, I had no idea there was an end to Duolingo. I do it every day (almost at 1200 days) but I only do one lesson. Knowing myself, if I forced myself to do more I would burn out and stop doing it. I hope I have a lot more to go!
Rare kid-free Wednesday so we went to La Tavola and sat at the bar. Sitting two seats away from us was Michael McKean! Extra exclamation point! I clocked him immediately but looked at him a couple more times just to make sure. He looks exactly how he looks onscreen. The young bartender had no idea who he was even though he said he loves Best In Show.
My buddy Shelby tipped me off to Duolingo’s limitation. In the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages it takes you through B2, at least for German.
Michael McKean? Whoa. Betsy saw him on Broadway in “Glengarry Glen Ross”, and you know I wish I had too.
Related: apparently a new Spinal Tap movie is being released this year.
maybe they are here filming it?
I didn’t recognize the name but I certainly recognize the face.
Had she referenced Lenny from “Laverne & Shirley” you would have been all over it! 😀
good answer Paulie
Exactly.
I would think it’s already been filmed. According to IMDB it’s “completed”.
He told the bartender that he lives in Dunwoody, so I think he has a place here.
OTP, should have figured. Lol
In from WLF, trying to decide if I will shower and go visit eye doctor’s office today. I have a ton of chores on my list, but they were added when I thought that it would be raining today.
Sometimes I wonder if I really like bike riding, because this morning was another perfect morning to go for a long ride, and I didn’t.
Sometimes it’s work and sometimes it’s fun.
Just ate my first raspberry of the season, the only ripe one on the plant.
Hey, we got a pope and he’s ‘merican! Go ‘merica!
no way!!! which cardinal? (wait – is it Trump?)
I looked it up – he’s basically from Peru now. (or really, a naturalized Peruvian citizen now)
No, but expect him to take credit, citing his “influence” as the reason he was chosen.
Been buying Classico pasta sauce believing that I could reuse the jars for canning. Turns out Classico changed their jars recently, reducing the size of the lid, making them incompatible with Ball/Mason jar lids, event though they’ve kept this labeling on the jar itself. Assholes.
I have some jars/lids you can have – in a bin in the garage.
Will take them next time I’m in your neck of the woods when you are home.
I keep a few to maybe make refrigerator pickles – but I have plenty more that I don’t need
