My wild hair plan to practice BRAG camping and getting in some hill climbing riding up at James “Sloppy” Floyd State Park has fallen through.

I have ordered another battery bank for BRAG. I will have enough juice to recharge my bike computer, Apple Watch, and iPhone all week.

I harvested some potatoes on Monday, and will harvest some leeks today. Tonight’s dinner — Potato Leek Soup!

    Wordle in 5.

My plan to attend the games meeting was shot down when I realized I forgot my hearing aides. I don’t typically use them but that meeting is one where they come in handy. The zoom call is normally pretty much able to pick up all the chatter if one woman who is constantly saying “uh huh” would just shut up.

As I drove north this morning, there was lots of lightning off in the distance. Bob, y’all OK up there in the northside?

    Exercise tonight, for sure.

Potato leek soup sounds pretty good.

  2. No matter what I’ve done, I continue to get pre-approved credit card offers and life insurance offers. In this age of identity theft I’d be down with defunding the post office because of this.

BRAG training is not going very well, I’m getting real tired of this rain. However, I did get in 21 miles last night and felt pretty good. I’m sure the hills will get me in June.

Speaking of training, the streets of Roswell are getting old and I need a change of scenery. I may head down south for a silk sheets ride on Saturday morning if anybody wants to join.

    • Barb says:

We might be able to go down south to ride – let me ask Allan when he gets home later.
Maybe next week some evening we can meet down by the River – we usually start our ride from Sams BBQ1 – & go towards Roswell.

    • Steve says:

I think I’m available. Keep me posted.

    • A small group of us are thinking of riding in Tucker Saturday morning. If that interests you, let me know. I need to found out the details myself.

      • Barb says:

Tucker could be an idea too – Allan gets home from work Saturday morning, so we can’t do anything too early.
I guess I need to check to see if he’s healed up enough too – I can’t remember what the doctor ppwk says for the take it easy for how long instructions.

    • Now I’ve read others replies, so never mind. 🙂

My training has gone horribly. I rode 18.5 last night at a slower than desired pace due to wet roads. My hope for BRAG is that I don’t get an ambulance ride to a hospital for a cardiac event since I am old, overweight, male, and improperly trained.

I was pretty much a zombie yesterday – besides having lunch with Paulie – I didn’t do much besides work. Slept hard, lots of weird dreams, but I don’t really ever remember my dreams, so can’t tell you what they were about.

Hopefully tonight I’ll get some energy to do something exercise wise.

  5. Humid morning in WLF. Thoughts of a Stone Mountain ride today scrapped because I’m not feeling up to it. Instead I think that I will shower and go to Your DeKalb Farmers Market instead.

  6. Jenka says:

We have a charging bank that could probably charge the whole house. It’s so handy.

Sushi last night and then baseball. Red Sox are in a but of a slump but the Braves are doing great.

Potato leek soup is SOOOOO good. I need to figure out what to make for dinner tonight.

    • I have a big one, really big one for camping, and four smaller ones that I’ve picked up over the years. The thing about BRAG is that you don’t really want to weigh yourself down too much since you have to schlep your shit to and from the truck every day.

    • Barb says:

I need to figure out dinner as well – but I don’t think I’ll be making any soup.

Yesterday was the completion of “new HVAC” install day.
The full boat, furnace, 4″ filter box, blower, coil, and compressor, the works.

    Weeee….

It’s a pro-quality job (Carrier bits and pieces).
Jan’s father is a mechanical contractor, so his people are doing the work.

We’ve been limping along on the second floor (bedrooms) in the interim.
At least the weather has been cooperating.

I’ll be selling a kidney to pay for it.

welcome to the “spending all the money in 2025” club – Bob & I have been members for a while now.

but- AC is a good thing – so it will be worth it.

      • HamWithCam says:

Yeah, we were fighting a leak in the coil (older R-22) periodically. Even at R-22 wholesale prices, it got expensive. Rather than chase down the leak (expensive, time/trouble) we decided to just replace it.

BTW: And for the record, Carrier units are “Designed in the US and Made in Mexico…” We sourced wholesale via United Refrigeration, so dunno if we incurred a tariff upcharge.

We replaced the whole shebang last April — AND added a tankless water heater — and it was EXPENSIVE.

        • I replaced my HVAC in 2020, and took advantage of the 0% loan offered to pay it off over four years. Hoping it’s the last HVAC unit I put into the ITP Estate.

      • Jenka says:

Barb, I meant to tell you that I have joined the club: yesterday I hit the “purchase” button an all new appliances for the cabin. Fridge, stove, and dishwasher. The current fridge has like 4 things not working anymore and since it wasn’t great quality to begin with there’s no point in fixing it. The stove has been failing for years already. The dishwasher works but it’s 20 years old and it’s only a matter of time. The stove is also 20 years old. So we figured we’d do ’em all.

  8. Back from YDFM, Publix, Kroger (gas). It was an interesting journey, bought a bunch of things for “projects” that will be revealed as they are completed.

  9. Future historians are going to wonder two things about out housing choices:
    1. Why did we build them so goddamn big?
    2. Why did paint them black, especially the brick ones?

  10. Since I didn’t ride I decided to go out for a three mile walk. I need to get back to getting exercise each day in order to attempt to fight off the bad things that lurk in my genetics.
