Yesterday’s weird experiment was making French onion dip from scratch. I saw this done one a YouTube channel, and having recently finished a jar of Lay’s French Onion Dip I tried to see if mine would be better. Because I had to refrigerate my concoction overnight I’ve yet to taste it, but I will be buying some potato chips today and will try it at lunch.

I also baked a pizza last night. With dough I made? Nope, with dough I bought at Publix. Making my own pizza dough is on my list of things to attempt, however.

Wordle: three, my starter was URINE. Talked myself out of a deuce.

  1. I should add that while the pizza dough wasn’t homemade, the sauce used was. Barb, I took your suggestion and amended my sauce with some tomato paste to thicken it.

    • Barb says:

I made pizza dough a few times – but – it was a little labor intensive for me, and I’m inherently lazy when it comes to this sort of thing, so we haven’t done it in a long time. I made it to make a Chicago style pizza.
Note to self – its been a while since I’ve had Chicago pizza

    Wordle in 4.

The Publix pizza dough varies from store to store a bit. And like you, someday I will also make my own.

I was pretty much a slug after work yesterday. Pulled the trigger on some replacement lights for the shop that will require rewiring the existing ones. And for some unknown reason, the power went off AGAIN yesterday evening. Several flickers, then off for a good 20 minutes or more. While I got texts from GP, by the time I signed onto the outage map, our power had returned and we were not on the map. WTF, O?

    • Good luck with the lights.

The ITP Estate used to lose power whenever the wind blew the wrong way. It was rather annoying.

I did learn that our UPS is strong enough to keep Starlink running for a while, so I never lost connectivity. I can’t imagine it draws much, but still that’s good to know.

Kevka Kastle loses power every time a butterfly flutters its wings. For 12 hours.

      • Barb says:

“knocking on wood” – we rarely lose power. We buried the cables when we built the garage, since we needed a whole new box outside, it seemed like a no brainer.

  3. Decided to give my bike a good cleaning ahead of the riding I will be doing all week.

My left knee area is bothering me, for some unknown reason, so I’m hoping nothing becomes of this.

Sushi as usual then watching the Red Sox actually win a game for once.

Researching activities (read: “food tours”) to do in Your-up next month. I honestly can’t eat enough to do a food tour justice but I do love them so much.

    • Barb says:

well – does the food tour include beer or other alcoholic beverages?
Then – you can justify the price.
I have done a food tour in Barcelona, a chocolate & beer tour in Brussels, and the cheese & wine tour in Amsterdam – all were excellent.

      where are you going?

      • Yeah, Barb did a great job finding the tours we did last year. Both were delicious. The stinky cheese was best, since I was the only one who seemed to enjoy them.

        • Jenka says:

Barb, did you use Viator? I have had great success with that app.

          • Barb says:

I’ve seen viator, but never used it.
I joined some Facebook groups – one Amsterdam, one Belgium, just to learn more about the areas. Within each I saw people posted about different tours. The Chocolate one in Brussels I actually used a hasher’s name (that I had never met) & got in with a discount.

      • Jenka says:

Yes, if alcohol is offered on any food tour that looks good I would include that. I found one called “Eat, Sip, and Make New Friends Food and Drink Tour” which looks promising.

We’re doing Vienna, Salzburg, and Prague, 3/4 days in each place.

        • Barb says:

that sounds so fun – some day……..

        • Steve says:

Glad you won’t be in a rush!! Or maybe you meant 3 to 4 days in each place, not three quarters?

          • Jenka says:

HAHAHAH, yes, it’s the fastest trip to Europe ever! Three quarters of a day in each city and the 4th quarter is for sleeping. I won’t even have to take any vacation days!

        • Been to Vienna (but hashed so I didn’t see much of the actual city). Almost went to Prague, for another hash, but bailed on it. Never considered going to Salzburg.

          Enjoy!

And from all of us who have been there, it’s all down hill from fifty…

    • Boo Red Sox, since I think you missed the opportunity to mention that they beat the Mets.

Connections was only sort of annoying – when my mind goes one way (that’s wrong) makes it tough to get the right answer

  6. I don’t know who LambdaTest Inc, is but I’d wish they’d stop calling me. They call with different area codes and phone numbers, so it’s not as easy as blocking them.

    • Barb says:

i get so many spam calls every day – but =-Verizon has this spam blocker feature that my phone never rings. I can just see how many calls I get in my recent calls log. I do hate when I am waiting for a call back, and that # is not in my phone, so it just goes to VM. That can be annoying. (but less than my phone ringing all day long)

  7. Another grocery run, $80(?) spent at Kroger and there was no alcohol in my cart!

Eating a sandwich with chips and French onion dip. My “dip” is very thick and is more of a spread than dip. I wonder if I did something wrong. I am going to rewatch the video that supplied the recipe again.

  8. Barb says:

Back from the dentist – the 2nd crown is started. This one is replacing an old crown, that was even less fun, as they had to get the old one off – I’ve had it for 25 years(or longer) I’m guessing?
Maybe after this is done in a few weeks my dental expenses for the year might be done.
