I guess I am not going to be my desired weight by the start of BRAG, not even close. I’ve missed it by about 25 pounds. š
I saw a guy all kitted up, riding up my street this morning. I wanted to yell āItās too lat to train!ā at him. Lol
Wordle: three, my starter was COUPE
Whatever asshole critter that was eating my bean plants has finished the job, and has killed them all. No early beans for me!
And as much as I like Sluggo, some of his/her ārelativesā are eating my cabbage to bits. This Spring has been perfect for slugs and snails.
WLF is going to have to undergo a large shift after I return from BRAG.
Time to get some DDT!
one year some critter ate all my snow peas, the plants were looking sooooo good right before – there was nothing left but the little stubs sticking out of the ground. That was the last year I tried growing them.
Wordle in 5. It was not pretty.
Not wanting to ride or run on my road, I drove to solid pavement at Bear Creek and ran/walked my 2 miles. My thought was similar to yours- my running weight when I was hashing and training for marathons was 20 pounds lighter and it makes a difference.
A little excitement yesterday as a contractor cut some fiber in Miami. It just affected one switch, but it did bring out our more clever ideas in how to recover. Early in my career, one of my executives told me “When everyone goes “oh $hit” you go “oh boy” as that’s an opportunity to learn”. And it’s still that way…

Good on ya for getting out there.
Oddly, I am looking at BRAG to kickstart my efforts to lose weight. I know, I know no one loses weight on BRAG, but it can get me moving in the right direction.
That is great advice, I bet that is one reason why you are so great at what you do!
Today’s environment (especially at the Fed) is so much more controlled, the opportunities are rare, but then the contractor cuts the fiber and we’re off to the races!
Just realized that I cheated myself on Wordle. I scored a three today, not four.
Also, Iāve given up on mowing today. Iām going to let the grass grow for a week and deal with it upon my return.
Getting ready to head to Conyers this afternoon with the camper – watching the weather to figure out the best time to go – looks like there could be some midday storms.
Allan still wants to get the grass cut – we will see if that will happen, it may have to wait until we get back on Sunday.
We cooked 2 turkeys for the party, so Allan is working on his turkey stock/soup. The house smells like Turkey. We ran to Aldi to get some carrots & celery to add to the pot for the stock – found a $4.29 flatbread pizza with a $2 off sticker – so that conveniently was dinner when we got back home.
Have fun at your fancy-dress party. We will miss you hanging out with us In Rome.
I can recommend visiting Tractor Supply and Harbor Freight in Conyers. Tell āem Paulie says āYo!ā Lol
not sure if I will get to those 2 places – but -we are packing up the road bikes, we just might go ride the Arabia Mtn trail (Eddie’s house is actually on Klondike, the road the Nature Center is on, or maybe we will start at the Monastery – who knows)
Definitely take the bikes, but as you know the trail is hilly (helped by your new bikes), and can be scattered with debris.
yes- the hilliness of that trail is a good & bad thing, but great for training.
I nice quiet evening at home, I made baked chicken and cauliflower. The Sox were off so I didn’t have to watch them lose.
We bought our house 10 years ago when my license also needed to be renewed, so I renewed it for 10 years. Then two years later we got married and I never bothered to change my license. My license will expire while we are out of the country so this morning I was at DDS when they opened at 7:30 this morning and finally changed my name on my license. The ladies there kept saying “congratulations” and I’m all, “thanks, it’s been almost 8 years?”
You went a long way to remind us your birthday is next week. Hahaha.
I have received my reminder that I will have to renew my tag. This year I get to renew my drivers license as well.
LOL! It’s not for a couple weeks but we leave for our trip next weekend.
did you have all 18 pieces of ppwk you needed to prove your new name to the DDS?
How many years do they give you now?
I’m not sure if I got my tag ppwk yet – but if Paulie got his, mine should be here any day now.
My DL expires in 2026 – so next year!
Yes, I had a whole folder full of documents, but all they wanted were my marriage certificate and SS card. At least I was prepared!
They gave me 8 years, I don’t know if that’s due to age or if that’s new for everyone.
I also have to do my tag!
I googled it and it turns out that in 2016 they changed the limit to 8 years.
Bummer, I was looking forward to getting a license for my entire sixties.
Yeah, it was nice to have the same license for my entire 40s. Oh well.
Harvested my big bed of garlic so I could start curing it. This weather was not great for harvesting, itās muddy out there, but I wanted it out of the ground prior to BRAG.
Iād love to plant something into that empty bed now, but the leaves of a few trees shade it too much for prime time growing. That issue may be addressed this winterā¦
I have fitted all of my 5-gallon water catching buckets with metal mesh to give the small critters who mistakenly enter for a swim or drink a chance to use it as a ladder to get out, and thus not drown in my water.
Allan is out mowing the grass (I wonder how wet it still is?)
– he is bound & determined to get it cut today.
It was bright sunny about an hour ago but now it looks like it’s going to rain again.
I’ve seen sun and lots of clouds… I don’t think it can make up it’s mind.
Paulie, I can stop by and cut you grass if you would like… have mower, will travel.
Thanks, but I donāt this that is necessary. Most people would look at my yard and ask where my lawn is. š
Have you tired any critter netting over your farm? Not sure if that will help or they will just chew through it. We have it over Laura’s garden and so far so good.
I’m off today so have all day to stress pack for BRAG. I’m sure I will forget something, hopefully it won’t be anything too critical.
My team has been moved under a new VP at work and he scheduled an introduction meeting today (dammit!). So while I’m off I get to join a meeting after lunch, thankfully it is only 30 minutes.
You bringing a power strip? Iāve packed a charger with 4 USB-A ports to share the charging capacity.
Yeah, I have netting over some of the crops. I usually use the netting to keep moths from laying eggs on my brassica plants. These bean plants were supposed to climb up a new trellis that I put in this year, and while it didnāt appear that they were starting to do that, they will never have that chance now.
Yup, I have a small power strip with 3 outlets and 2 USB ports.
Sucks the netting doesn’t work. How about a full greenhouse? š
Excellent!
The netting sorta works, but these pole beans would have been hampered by netting. I may try planting more with a cage around it, in case itās the GD rabbits eating the plants.
Oh, Iāve researched greenhouses⦠If I ever buy and move to Final Chapters Farm there will be a greenhouse.
In the short term I am bummed that the rain continues today. Yes, I know this may be the last day for a little while.
In the long term I am bummed that my investments are not rebounding to the point before Captain Tariff began his reckless tirades.
