I had a weekend before the weekend!

As you know, I spent Thursday night in Dublin so that I could attend an event in Uvalda, with a stop in Vidalia along the way. Yes, I really wanted to buy onions in Vidalia, but didn’t.

Even though the four hour event started late, I enjoyed it a lot, including the free lunch which was provided. Did you know you can grow rice in Middle/South Georgia? I did not. Did you know a major hurricane blew through that area last year? Yes, we all knew that but I saw a lot of the remaining devastation as I drove through the region. I learned about a program where existing farms are looking to lease/sell land as long as it’s not developed for housing; Wee Little Farm at Final Chapters Estate may not be a pipe dream after all!

My actual weekend was pretty mundane. On Saturday I met my drinking buddies at Black Bear Tavern on Peachtree. There I violated one of my drinking rules — ordering from a menu without listed prices. When my bill arrived and I discovered my beers were $9 each, I was a little taken aback.

Wordle: four, my starter was SHOCK

  1. Fucking hell, something destroyed two more of my nice, large green tomatoes overnight. I might have to resort to eating fried green tomatoes because the best of the bunches keeps getting eaten before the pay even start to blush.

I am so angry with the critters. I should have bought the traps I saw in Tractor Supply a few days ago, but I didn’t want to spend the money.

It’s Monday and I am back to the grind! It’s so hard to come back to work after two weeks off. Fortunately my boss is out of town today so I will have a quiet day to catch up.

    Wordle in 3.

Having seen and done all I wanted at the rally, I headed south Saturday morning. Staying off the interstate made for an enjoyable ride, but my butt was done by the time I got home. Reports were another 6 tenths of an inch of rain at the rally Saturday afternoon and it really came down. Another camper ordered a new tent while there and donated his “old” tent to me. Just needs some seam seal and it will be ready to go.

Sunday was an unpack and clean up day. Debbie started binging “Game of Thrones” while I was gone and I had to tolerate that!! But there were naked woman, so there’s that.

      Steve –
Allan needed to order you new tires for the bike – so hope you don’t need it for a week or so. He gets back from CO on 7/1, so I’d guess it will be ready 7/2.

No worries. I thought about riding yesterday and then remembered it would be CX or road bike!

A LOT of naked women. I swear, every costume the women wear are quick-release robes so they can be naked in less than a second. (Not that I mind! 🙂 )

    busy enough weekend.
Saturday walked to a new to us breakfast place (Season) near the Marietta Square (from Annette’s house -about 2 miles) It’s a tiny place that you basically need a reservation – breakfast was excellent. Stopped at the Farmers Market on the way back, and saw the Marietta History Museum had a sign saying FREE TODAY – so we went in to check it out.
Then to a Celebration of Life gathering for a friend that died last fall, it was a good group of people we don’t see very often.

Sunday was a very warm Wheelhopper around Dunwoody – the E bike really is awesome for neighborhood hills & I was almost able to keep up with Bob on his One Wheel. A tough check had us baffled, but after a beer at the nearby Quick Trip with a few of us, we figured it out.

Wordle in 3 – 2nd word I didn’t think was a word, but tried it – and it really helped

  6. Warm morning in WLF done. Morning frustration of damage caused by critters nearly sent me into a tailspin, but I settled down and started making progress.

    Today’s harvest was:
    – one long purple eggplant
    – three jalapeño peppers
    – one yellow squash
    – one (partially slug eaten) head of cabbage

Wordle in 4. Yesteday 50ish miles on the Silver Comet, Florence Road to Rockmart and back. My teenage son has been riding his bike like a fiend around town, so he was raring to go. I think the last time I’ve ridden more than 15 miles was las September. Nonetheless, it was a great ride, I was surprised how well my body held up. I was braced for my butt to revolt from being in the seat that long, but that didn’t happen either. I also hydrated like hell, and avoided the massive cramp attacks that had been part of my long rides. It was good to be on that trail again.

Back from the dentist – 3rd time is the charm on getting my crown correct.

    • Jenka says:

Kevin had to go back to the dentist to get his crown fixed so many times that she made him start wearing a bite guard to bed. Seems to be working!

      • Barb says:

it was a weird issue because it is next to my implant – Dr. just didn’t like how it was – so she made them correct it – twice.
I think its ok now – and – I do have a bite guard too – I think they wanted me to spend extra money one time when I had a cleaning and no extra issues.
