I binge-watched the rest of the fourth season of “The Bear” this weekend; still no laughs. 😉
I wonder when I will get back into exercising? Partially related, I’m battling an ankle injury that I have no idea how it happened. I’m also bummed because I don’t feel as if I’ve used these long days to their fullest potential.
Wee Little Farm is starting to crank out food — peppers (hot and sweet), eggplant, squash, potatoes, beets, and a lot of ripening tomatoes; cucumbers are starting to emerge as well. I hope that the tomatoes will be ready for use when I can process them. I might need to freeze ripe ones so they don’t go bad.
Wordle: four, my starter was CRISP
Don’t look now, after today the first “half” of 2025 has passed by.
Also, today’s Wordle solution was another from my starter list that I didn’t pick. Dangen!
And just like that, the first six (of many) cucumbers have been picked! Pickling today? Very likely!
Wordle in 4.
I’m also having a time getting motivated to exercise. I could have ridden after the storm blew through but ran instead. My right heel has been hurting after runs and yesterday was no exception. Very odd.
We watched a lot of Game of Thrones over the weekend. I’ve decided sometime it’s violence and blood just because they can- not that it adds to the story. I think we’re in the last season. Also seems like less nakididity, but still some.
Almost 3 inches of rain over the weekend..

WLF caught about 3” as well.
Need to go to Kroger and gas up today, using as many Gas Points as I can.
I used Junes points already, we have a decent amount for July – but I feel like we are at 390 or something. But – City Market is too far away for Allan to run by (and we did notice that the beer we bought last week was not part of the points deal)
I used 200 of my June points today, saving 20¢ per gallon. I will have to do a 4x Fuel Point shopping day in July in order to get many points since I doubt I will need much from grocery stores next month.
made it to Iowa finally last night – landing after midnight. Flight at 6:50pm finally departed at about 9:30pm. Traffic was horrible leaving the mountains on I-70, but would have made it – but with the delays, got to have dinner at a Ruby Tuesdays not too far from the airport. (salad bar seemed somehow appealing)
Good time with the family – a little crowded, but we survived. There really wasn’t a good place for us to sleep, so it was good we got the hotel room.
We also had to bring groceries everyday – as the planning of the food was not done well at all.
Your many years of hash campouts probably helped with your ability to cope. 😀
Good luck with your continued journey.
How long you in Iowa this time? I need to go up to help my dad in August.
I fly home Sunday morning 7/6
then we leave for Boston Tuesday afternoon 7/8.
Once we get thru my birthday weekend – we have nothing on the calendar.
When did you two win the lottery? Lol
spending all the kids inheritance money.
but really – I’m sure the in-laws will give me a check or cash for a lot of this CO trip.
Boston/Maine is on our dime
Just teasing.
I’m trying to decide where I will be spending birthday number 60, alone. So far Nashville, New Orleans, Chicago, and Asheville have been considered. I’m also trying to figure out if I can ride sixty miles on my sixtieth birthday. Obviously weather and location will impact my decision.
And tomorrow I’m touching base with my friend Tamara, she of Edmonton living, if we are meeting up for a weekend in Montreal (her choice) this Fall.
Wondering if my saved okra seed is sterile. My germination rate has been horrible. Also, I counted six dead transplants into the raised bed I was counting on being my Okra Central. #flummoxed
Also, all seven fig tree transplants are now dead. #BlackThumb
With the last iOS update Apple introduced an annoying bug with Location Services. Now, several times a day their Calendar, Maps, and Weather apps ask for permission to use my location on my iPhone and Apple Watch. I give permission each time, but the service seems to continue to “forget”.
now I have to think about this – I think I’m all updated, but I don’t remember updating it as often as you are saying
It doesn’t seem to affect everyone, but it certainly gotten to me.
The new “to me” iPad got an IOS update last night… and the new keyboard/cover came in yesterday (in the middle of the monsoon)
It seems very durable and well built. We shall see. I’ve had little bluetooth keyboards before, but this permanently attached one is new.
I feel like we did a lot this weekend because I am very tired, but I think it has more to do with not sleeping well either Friday or Saturday night. I go to bed later but I still wake up at 4:00 am. Yesterday we took Finn to his swim lesson first thing in the morning, then had breakfast at the Majestic, and then dropped Finn at his mom’s for the week. Then we turned around and went up to the Braves game against the Phillies. It was a good game even though the Braves lost. It was a long day.
Short week this week. I need to figure out food for the weekend because we are heading up to the mountains on Thursday. Hopefully we will get the stove installed so I can cook something!
Part of the reason I’m worried about WLF’s tomatoes is that I will be gone a few days and don’t want them to be rotten/unusable when I get home.
It’s a delicate dance, that’s for sure.
when are you going to be out of town?
I’m sure we (or someone) can come steal tomatoes
Hahaha. I’ve stopped publishing my exact dates of being out of town. It’ll be alright. I’ll ask Betsy to swing by, and help herself to any ripe crops.
WORDLE IN 2 BITCHES!!!!
That was a crazy surprise
Still don’t know how you did that with my starting word. Since your brother did the same I will assume it’s either Blank family luck, or outright cheating. 😀
well – if you consider our last name, it could be a hint? Or not- but maybe that’s why the word came to mind???
Perhaps, I thought if that too.
Pickles from cucumbers are done. Also made a few observations about the process that I will use in future batches. Oh, and one cucumber already had a pickle worm. Harrumph!
I also now have a ton of dishes/utensils to wash later tonight.
refrigerator pickles? or did you do the real ones with boiling the jars, etc?
Just refrigerator pickles this time, four pint jars. I intend to try fermenting some this summer too if the pickle worms don’t ruin my plan.
